There is a modern block opposite the spare land used for market trader parking. The rooms are ok with aircon etc. Some have a terrace but can be noisy when the market starts up. There is a sign up with a phone number but I believe the lady who runs the cake shop near Vogue is an owner. I think about 6k p/m

I'm looking for a way to earth in an old 4 story building. At the front of the building is the mains supply in, with meter etc. In the ground under where the meter is situated is a good copper earth rod. A single wire runs up from the rod to a small white plastic box, on which is the tube for the electric bill. From this box, twin core (both black) comes out.

Hi, I'm Looking for markets (not food markets) and flea markets around Krabi.

Thanks for all the replies. 3bb seems clear favourite. What is the cost and speed? Is there a usage limit or cap?

Unfortunately this is a very old four story. All the sockets are just 2 pin. When we came home with a new rice cooker recently, she promptly broke off the third pin on the plug. Apparently it's the norm here. My plan now is to run a cable down the outside of the building and hammer a big stake into the ground - or I could continue taking cold showers. There is a pinned thread here now to test your earth. Unfortunately, after an experience with a tiler,I'm dubious about trusting Thai 'tradesmen' again.

On the forth floor :-(

Using TOT at the moment but it's not great. Can anyone recommend better?

I'm in the process of installing a hot water shower. It needs to be earthed but the electric supply in the building is 2 wires only - no earth. Likewise, all the water pipes are plastic. How do I connect this shower to earth?

Krabi Town
in Krabi
Krabi Town is worth a night stay....plenty places to stay and the night market has great food....slow quiet and laid back atmosphere....I much prefer it to Ao Nang.

Hi, I have a double entry tourist visa which I plan to extend 2 times at immigration. I plan to drive or bus to another country for a short break in between visas.
I've just bought a 6 month return from the UK. Will the airline (Eithad) let me on the plane or will they need to see another ticket for leaving Thailand when the first visa expires? How about immigration at Suvarnabhumi - what will I need to show there?

The question I sent to the embassy last week before starting this thread:'Do I need to include a self addressed envelope when submitting a visa application?'The reply I got today:Dear Sir/Madam,Yes, you can do that or pay us 10 pounds to post back to u as (special delivery )Kind Regards,Visa OfficerRoyal Thai Embassy29-30 Queen's Gate,London,SW7 5JBIf I was to include a self addressed envelope, it would be Special Delivery as that is the safest (and Post Office approved) way to post a passport. I think the cost is about £6.50

The instructions do not ask for the self addressed envelope. I think that is because they use an envelope from the post office as part of the 10 pound postage fee. http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/401
Reply to the email I sent last week:
You can include a self addressed envelope or send a £10 fee. This came from a Visa Officer.

Yes, read that too but the recorded info on the phone also says they don't accept postal applications, so none of it is very clear. I called to clarify, waited in a queue for 35 minutes and was then disconnected. No reply to emails either.
I figured there must be someone here who's made an application by post in the last few weeks

Hi,
Apologies for a stupid question but as the Embassy doesn't answer the phone (only puts you on hold) and my passport is involved...
I've made previous applications in person but for me it's a hotel stay or 2 trips to London so I want to apply by post. The website is not good and Google even says it's been hacked. The embassy asks for a £10 fee the return my passport. Do I have to provide a self addressed envelope, it doesn't say.
Thanks

Double entry visa is valid 180 days, not three months. In length of stays you write "up to 60 days each entry".
Many thanks!

Hi, as I read it with a tourist visa, you must arrive in Thailand within 3 months of the issue date. How about the second visa? Must I return to Thailand within 3 months on the issue date too?
My plan is to apply for a double entry visa. Arrive Thailand later in September. Stay 60 days. Get a 30 day extension at immigration. After 30 days, leave Thailand for a short holiday (maybe 1 week) and then return using the second tourist visa. If that visa is issued by the embassy on 1st of September for example, do I have to use the second visa within 3 months of that date?
Also, what do I put on the visa application form for length of stay in Thailand when applying for multiple entries?

Ok, that clears up the 1% query I had as I suspected it was the Visa charge, fair enough I suppose. Re 'paid for' accounts, controversial area of banking (see link) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/bank-accounts/10601361/Complaints-about-paid-for-bank-accounts-reach-400-a-day.html as many of the 'benefits' do not apply anyway.
I also like this article as it covers most of the comments on this link and answers (I think) the OP in full plus many questions raised on other threads re financing our stay in Thailand. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money, I particularly like the sentence : "While the right card is absolutely the best way to spend abroad, the wrong one is absolutely the worst way."
btw, seems Jui-Jitsu missed some off of his list including the Natiionwide CC altho the Halifax Clarity does come out on top. (unless this article is already out of date?)
Hope this is of some help to the OP. Cheers, Ray.
I looked at the flex plus account which is £10 per month but offers free ATM withdrawals and no sterling transaction fees. Whilst the insurance is pretty much worthless in this situation, I concluded the savings made in the aforementioned ATM fees were more than the £10 charge plus they also pay interest when you are in credit.

Thanks for all the replies. Judging by the comments here, it would appear more people are using Nationwide than Halifax. I'll take that as a vote of support for Nationwide
