Just get used to it, that's the way they roll.
I used to jump up and down when they brought me the wrong food order, now I just eat it.
Valium helps.

How interesting. Because given that 'troll' refers to someone who makes insulting or argumentative posts with the intent of disrupting on-topic discussion, I'd say you and your cronies are the real trolls here.
How many threads have you had closed due to your off-topic flaming recently?
After your miserable failure in the POTY awards here's your chance to shine. You've got my vote.

Louk means child and Kreung means half so it's not insulting. Normally Thais will say louk kreung falng or louk kreung yippon (Japanese).
A lot of the Thai movie and TV stars are louk kreung.

You're probably thinking about how much time and money you've invested and whether or not to kiss it goodbye.
Well all I can say is if you are not happy, and you haven't been happy for a long time, just leave.
I know it's not easy and I think you are the type of guy that worries what will happen to them if you aren't around to provide support but what I did with one long term relationship I was in was tell her I had to work away and slowly made my exit.
I visited every other week then every month then every few months and I haven't seen her for two years now but I still send her money just so she leaves me alone.

Buuuut when your fellow countrymen asks for 100thb because he forgot his wallet you suddenly remember the word "principle"
I do take money from my parents, but never before have I paid for the company of a girl here. I use my parents money for myself not for others.I dont have a problem taking money from them right now as I'm still a student. But when I have my own job my spending habits wont change a bit. I believe in giving to people, the more I give I realized the more I received.
I rather take advice from a homeless person in Bangkok instead of a farang retiree who is after girls that are the same age as their grandaughter. Yes I'm generalising, because its what 90% of the single farang retirees are after here.
Making assumptions again. When you work? That's a laugh. You know that you have to wake up early and go there everyday or maybe you think you can flaunt in and out as you like.
Just carry on playing with your uncle's dingle dangle.

TVF is the envy of every Digital Pikey in Thailand. They can't sleep some nights thinking about all the money being made from the Google clicks.

Easy to make up 100000 excuses instead of admitting you're cheap charlie The funnier part is actually telling the lad you dont have 100thb on you instead of saying no outright I would of respected the OP if he straight out said I dont lend money to people instead of making himself look like a fool there. Farangs in this country are really of low quality, thank god I dont hang out in places where these english teachers and retirees go
Just stand outside Nana Plaza and see how many times you are asked for money.
The dilemma the OP faces is two fold. Firstly he didn't work for a while because he had to get his passport renewed and WP updated and secondly which you have no comprehension of he is working with this person and is concerned that the guy may talk behind his back.
Since you have never had a job this completely goes over your head.

Bikey I know what type of person you are sitting around on your bean bags and Afghan rugs sharing pseudo intellectual discussions with your neophytes about how you can change the World. Sorry Buddy the World is what it is and we all have to make the best of it. Humor in my opinion is priceless even if it is at someone else's expense.
You couldn't be more wrong, as it happens.
But lets go back a little to your suggestion that we have a special area that's welcoming to all. How about instead of that, we have a special area of the forum where it's open season on anybody, and you can take the piss as much as you like?
Thing is, we have exactly that - the pub - and that's fine. We all like a laugh now and again. The problem is that some posters can't keep the humour in the area intended for it, and instead wade into threads in the general forum having a pop at anyone they feel is an acceptable target, slapping each other on the back for being so clever - and often getting the thread closed by the mods. Can you not see how detrimental this might be to the atmosphere of the forum?
No

Yep "PC" and "Socialist" - the Thaivisa forum equivalent
of abandoning reason and debate in favour of pitchforks, torches
and cries of "Witchcraft" once they've exceeded the paltry
limits of their kerosene-powered intellects.
Well at least you have a child that will require love, care and attention. Let's see how you think 15 years from now.

Thaivisa is first and foremost intended as an portal for information for those seeking to come to or remain in Thailand. And yet you think its ok for us to belittle and mock them for discussing the kind of issues that people new to the country often face?
Yes
In that case, thanks for providing a perfect example of exactly what's wrong with this place.

People who're new to the country should be welcome here, not mocked and belittled for not knowing the ropes by a bunch of cynical old-timers who feel the forum is just for them and their cronies.
Ok so what you're saying is we should have a "Special Needs" forum. Not a bad idea. Remedial education for those new to Thailand and not smart enough to play with the big boys. I like it.
No. What I'm saying is this forum should be welcoming to everybody - not a place where we call people stupid for making the same kind of mistakes we all made.
We were all new here once. Why be so unpleasant to those who come after us?

When have I ever claimed that anyone else would want to live my lifestyle? The whole point I'm making is that there should be room for all sorts of different people here. The only common ground needed is an interest in Thailand.
How have I imposed my lifestyle on anyone else? I don't go around saying things like 'men only come to Thailand for the cycling'. I don't make out that anyone who claims not to like food courts must be lying, or that anyone who doesn't do the dishes is not a real man. And yet here you are yet again having a pop at me because I don't choose to live the kind of life you feel I should.
Where are these 'pikeys' that a number of you seem so obsessed with? Where are the posts advising people to flout the visa rules?
There is room for everyone on this forum but anyone who bleats about getting ripped off by a taxi or has to pay falung prices and all the other crap deserves to have the piss taken out of them. If you aren't intellectually nimble you're going to get abused when you promote stupid ideas and idiotic threads. That's why a lot of people use this forum. Sometimes I laugh so loud at the posts I almost split my sides. But if people do have serious questions they always get answered with respect.

This is exactly the kind of thing that spoils this place. People attacking those they feel aren't 'proper' expats. All should be welcome here, long-termers, those with Thai spouses, those here to work, those here to study, those who're just visiting - or even those who are yet to visit Thailand but want to learn more about the place. Thaivisa should be a welcoming place to them all, not a clubhouse for those who feel they've somehow earned the right to post here.
Bikey what YOU don't get is that no one else wants to live your life. Biking up and down Sukhumvit, going to foodcourts and cleaning the house and washing your own clothes and dishes is not what most red blooded males want.
You are just as guilty as anyone else in imposing your dreary ideas and lifestyle on everyone else.
If someone is on an ED Visa so be it but there are a gang of Pikeys here who openly advise people to flout the law and not attend classes and even overstay and pay the fine on leaving.
Flouting the law and advising people how to beat the system is not what should be openly discussed here. That's why there is so much animosity towards these Pikeys living on their dim wits.

Mass tourism and the poor quality of the foreigners flooding into Thailand has destroyed the Thailand i once knew. And sadly the government wants more foreigners. The government seriously needs to rethink its policies concerning foreigners. The millions of very questionable foreigners pouring into this place is destroying it.
A lot of the social problems Thailand faces now stem from the Asian Economic Crisis of 1997. Prior to this Thais were a lot more respectful, cultured and better educated and also had a future to look forward to because Thailand had been booming up until this point.
The AEC caused a whole generation of Thais to miss out on decent schooling and their parents also had problems providing for them.
Thailand is now having to deal with this lost generation whose future is bleak in a job market that hasn't really seen a salary increase in over 20 years.
Totally agree.
I am not sure a lot of foreigners understand the sheer impact 1997 had on the thai people of all social economic classes ( except the elite). To see my work colleagues almost traumatized by the loss of their jobs ( unheard of previously) lower income families getting into debt etc..suicides when they got ill etc..
The whole country seemed to change, then the onset of mass tourism, the influx of retirees, the poor quality of the foreigners who came thereafter. The whole dynamic of the thai/ foreigner relationship also changed.
Place is unrecognizable.
As all countries have I suppose.
Jim the problem is not only in Thailand it's Worldwide. There is some sort of social experiment underway, instigated by whom I don't know, to create an underclass. Huge numbers of people in the US are living on food stamps and can't afford basic health insurance or care. In the UK people and families are living on charitable food hand outs because they cannot get social security for whatever reason. Conditions like this have not been seen since rationing in WWII. The gap between rich and poor has increased dramatically over the last 10 years or so.
Thailand is forced to keep wages low to compete and the tourist industry has sold itself short. I believe the only way for Thailand to improve is to raise prices and increase the quality of it's product. This is the only way that Thailand can attract the Quality Tourists it so desires. Unfortunately this will put an end to the employment of a lot of people working the low end sector, but things can't carry on the way they are. Thailand is now getting cheap and nasty, but it's still good if you can afford to enjoy it's better side.
