  1. please will you tell us the name of ngo in question. there is a lot of bad feeling towards ngo's in cambodia.

people might be more willing to help you if you can show yourselves to be one of the good guys.

also there are all sorts of technical questions like

if the files were so important why did you not back them up

and why were you not running a good anti virus like avg

which is being recommended on this forum

and how did you acquire the virus in the first place - usb game - email - visit to a porno web site?

just educate your people about the importance of security and tell them

not to do these things. it is difficult i know

and the temptation is to treat a computer like a new toy.

  2. in koh kong cambodia where i have spent time the roads were only cart tracks.

now slowly each road is being dug down, filled with stones and then concreted over in sheets about 10 feet by 5 feet with expansion joints in between each. there is a drainage channel each side of the road, the result is good.

in pattaya the potholed roads are just filled with tar. this works well in the short term but come the rains and the heavy vehicles it soon breaks up. why cannot pattaya do the same. it must cost more to keep on refilling the potholes.

    Just questioning:

    - where are all those NGOs, do-gooders and know-it-alls?
    - who issues these kids work permits and who checks these?
    - how do these kids get to Samui in the first place and who runs these gangs?

Not expecting answers though ......... :violin:

there is no money and no headline publicity for the ngo's and so they do nothing.

they want white pedophiles in order to fun raise some new cars, laptops, iphones, houses and fashion accessories.

and if they can't find any, and there are very few, they just make them up.

the kids are smuggled in thru the porous boarders with neighbouring countries.

they have no paper work at all. no passport. no visa. no work permit.

short of building a barbed wire fence with pill boxes like north/south korea

you cannot stop them. maybe one day this will happen.

there are gang leaders. just look at where the kids come from and go to.

the police are not interested. they have better things to do.

Calcutta is nearer to Bangkok than Phuket ????

    Are you serious ???

By train from Bangkok to Calcutta?

Take a sleeping pill and wake up in 20 years or so.

The current plans from India to Thailand are about decent road connections!

Bus? No idea. Maybe you can make in under 1 week.

    distance.jpg

i already took one sleeping pill and woke up 70 years later.

there is still no train service so what difference will another 20 make?

as for the bus my understanding is that now that the fighting in burma

is much less travel is much safer and more possible.

that still leaves the naxalites on the western boarder of burma.

it is not well known that there is a big communist problem in india

with armed groups in many places.

    thank you for the map.

  5. most thai atm's use visa to connect to a foreign bank.

sometimes the visa system is not working.

so you will be unable to use any atm.

also do not keep your atm cards next to your mobile telephone

like do not put your wallet in the same pocket as the phone.

the signals from the phone reduce the strength of the magnetic strip.

some atm's are more sensitive than others.

this could explain why your card works in some atm's but not others.

replace your atm card as soon as possible.

  6. i still don't understand how they did it. they must have had access to the server which makes it an inside job. then planted code on the server to accept their dummy atm cards at a certain time on certain atm machines. then used a gang of 20 to access the named atm machines at that time. this could be done on any atm machine. nothing need to have been done to the atm machines.

  7. i am told that there is very little gold in the world and the volume would only fill an olympic sized swimming pool. I went into this some time ago when in Perth Australia. The gold they sell is 99.999% pure and too soft to be of any use in jewelry so it gets mixed with silver I think and becomes 96% pure which is what they sell in Thailand. In Perth they also sell gold certificates which can be traded like gold. The main problem with gold is storage. I bought an ingot and kept it in my hotel room. Not finding a safe place to store it I sold it back to the gold shop. The price in 1985 was about $800 us per ounce which fell to about $287 when I bought it and has now risen to about $1500 per ounce. Some say that all currencies are doomed to go the way of the Zimbabwe dollar and that the price will rise to $10,000 per ounce. Of course there is very little actual gold and with the demand for jewelry the amount is going down so what is being traded? These gold certificates are a good idea if bought from a reputable dealer but there must be some doubts about what you are buying. It is said that not all of the gold stored in fort knox or the bank of england exists and that some of it has been rented out to make jewelry. Remember how Venezuela wanted and got its gold back? Germany is trying to do the same thing but will have to wait a bit. Why gold is worth so much as a currency must remain a mystery. Pity that we are not still using cowry shells.
