Covid vaccination priority: Tourism industry will have to wait until there are sufficient doses

A leading figure in the fight against Covid-19 has stated where the priorities lie when it comes to vaccination.

And it is not the tourism industry, at least not yet.

Workers in the sector will have to wait their turn behind health care workers, people with chronic illness, the obese and those over 60.

It has also been announced that 10 provinces - including Bangkok, Chonburi and Rayong - will be getting some vaccine early.

But these will be people in the high risk groups, not the tourism sector.

Expats living in Thailand were not mentioned in the latest story from Bangkok Business News though migrant workers got a nod.

Dr Sophon Mekthon said that the aim of the vaccination program was to deliver a safe, efficient and quality vaccination to vulnerable groups then get the economy going - in that order.

Vaccine was limited so in the first phase health workers with direct contact to Covid patients would be prioritised along with those with chronic illnesses.

Among these were heart and later stage kidney patients, those with cancer undergoing chemotherapy or radiation, diabetics, the over 60s and obese people.

This was itemised as those weighing 100 kilos or more and having a BMI of 35.

When the country gets more vaccine then the economy and general society can be innoculated in phase two.

This will involve vaccination for health workers behind the front lines then those in the tourism industry.

Dr Sophon specifically mentioned hotel employees, those in the entertainment industry, guides, people travelling abroad like pilots and cabin crew, international businessmen, people in the public who travel, embassy staff, officials who need to travel and then workers in industry.

In the first phase of vaccination from now until April ten provinces will be prioritised with 2 million doses - enough for two shots each for just one million people.

The provinces and the number of nursing and ER locations each will have to deliver the vaccine in brackets are as follows:

    Samut Sakhon (10 locations)
    Bangkok (62)
    Samut Prakan (30)
    Nonthaburi (21)
    Pathum Thani (22)
    Rayong (13)
    Chonburi (32)
    Chanthaburi (14)
    Trat (8) and
    Tak (11).

Each of these will be allocated a proportion of the two million doses with Bangkok and Samut Sakhon getting by far the lion's share.

For example Bangkok will get 800,000, Samut Sakhon 820,000, Chonburi 28,000 and Rayong just 18,000.

In each of the ten areas the number of people in each vulnerable group has also been itemised so that for example in Bangkok 32,000 health care workers and 8,000 who have close contact with the sick will get a jab along with 100,000 each of the chronically sick and over 60s and the general public and workers 160,000.

The 14,000 people in Chonburi - that includes Pattaya - who will get the 28,000 initial doses will be just 10,000 medical personnel and 4,000 who come into close contact with the sick.

The figures seemed to indicate that except in Bangkok, Samut Sakhon and Tak in Thailand's north west, the aging population and the chronically sick would have to wait behind medical staff and those with close contact with the sick until they could get a jab when more vaccine becomes available.

They can forget about tourism .

There is higher agenda for humanity .

  2. Main problem with tests everywhere is that WHO finally informing that circles of the test should be lowered to avoid false result but it is ignored in many countries.

Another problem is that nobody knows where tests are produced means which company is preferred by WHO .

Personally I have this problem now when perfectly healthy I was diagnosed with positive result...just because I was tested using test from "Liferiver" company.

The is WHO recommend tests and second generation plus much cheaper where tested again I have negative result on covid....

That's all I can see governments prefer to keep up with expensive tests to gain income and build convenient statistics .

I think the difference is the term "a prostitute" and engaging in the "act of prostitution" - a prostitute is someone who's main income / profession is selling herself for money... a girl who is an office worker / student / hotel staff etc that occasionally sleeps with someone for gas money / cash / gifts is engaging in the act of prostitution but not a prostitute if that makes sense --- and to that end A lot of women could be said to prostitute themselves to some degree or another in any culture

For many many cases marriage in western world  it is just legal prostitution ...where mostly man is the looser.

  4. 1.Because they treat man as real man  if you normal for them.

2.They are cleanest woman with personal hygiene compare to others in the world.

    3. They are definitely more steady with their feelings to man  compare to western woman .

    4. They manage to live on little money ...western woman do not.

    5. So many of them MUST go for "easy" life to support their kids and parents..and Do not think all of them are enjoying it.... that's why they see us western man more steady that their Thai man .

Every western man who lost in their previous marriages in western world can see that much better then those who just visiting Thailand on short vacations.

  5. I'm thinking we retired expats actually save the Australian government significant money from living overseas e.g. pension supplements, rent assistance etc.

With that in mind, I wrote to my Federal MP asking for quantitative information on cost savings, also the administrative costs to departmental budgets arising from the various rules they have in place for overseas retirees.

Even if I don't get a meaningful response, I may succeed in giving some public servants a good migraine.

    It is perfect normal thinking..

    But...

The Top fellas don't give a sh... about this money spent overseas....or going so often to the Aussie doctor ...

The key is that a lot of money we spend in Australia are going to the sector of pharmaceutical people who have a big influence everywhere...

If you are in Australia then this is a big business for them until you die.Subsidy are paid...if you are there.

Just imagine ...you're in LOS wasting Australian dollar...and no profit for Aussie pharmacy....

That's the main reason they hate us to be somewhere else...

But it should be our basic right to receive our age pension...not a favour.

All who worked and paid taxes should get what we were charged for our old days.

Unfortunately new world order make us "modern slaves" if everyone say nothing in their face.

To be honest I would rather prefered a huge war where everyone become on the same level on the judgment day.gigglem.gif

  6. My advice to anyone with a Thai partner dealing with Centrelink is to declare yourself single. There is absolutely no benefit to you from declaring a foreign national as your partner, and you will open a can of worms you will wish you had never touched. All sorts of details will be required, some of which you may not have, and it is likely your SINGLE benefit will be reduced because of partner's income (they must be earning something, right? even if it's in another country?).

I was asked to send a C/L form to my wife in English as Thai not available, have her sign it, despite her being able to read English, and send it back for me to fill out. Yeah sure.

At one stage my payment was stopped because they didn't have HER tax file number, despite her having never been an Oz resident. Took a full day at the local office to sort out.

Thanks mate .. you saved my life in my future plans.

However, I am in Poland and only 11 months before my Australian retirement money but currently I'm trying to fight Polish Embassy in Bkk to grant short tourist visa to stay with me in Poland for just vacations.

Recently my G/f was refused with such visa even I am financing everything under suspicion that she will not return to Thailand....sad.png

My second thoughts was to go there and get married then bring her for vacation to Poland but it could be a huge mistake if Aussie got news that I am married with younger person under age of pension...

Probably Poland do not mind such relationship but because they are in agreement with Australia it may leak one day to them in case I will receive my age pension from Australia.

I think everyone should learn about it this days where we are became a "Modern Slaves"

  7. Although I am a couple of years away from the OAP I asked Centerlink the same question in November. I was told that they are happy to pay an OAP into an Australian a/c and that it did not matter where I was overseas. The 13 week time frame seems to be for those with Centerlink payments such as Disability, unemployment....etc.

Having said this...those of you who know Centerlink know that different answers come from different offices for the same question...

    That's correct.

  8. I have visited many countries in the world but do not remember that I could expect a police checking my ID....and specially in tourist places......

Step by step news about Thai ideas are spread around the world....

Nothing good in it for Thailand if they still want to vacation destination country.

Should I be worry now if I forget my passport ?

I know that I do not have to carry it except a copy of it....BUT they change their ideas all the time and I feel very uncomfortable now seeing a police man.

If I am coming to have a rest and relax to this country then last thing I need to be stressed....for my spent money over there.

I think Vietnam is better for me now.coffee1.gif

  9. Thailand is great for retirement if you are prepared to live in a bubble. Live your own little life cheaply and happily and ignore what's going on around you. Things that are not likely to affect you much, like the blatant day to day corruption that permeates Thai society from top to bottom. The injustices of the legal system. Better not venture out onto the roads. Don't care about te Thais that live around you, you know the ones that struggle to live on 300 baht a day (if they're luck), ignore the 'slave labourers' from Burma on the building sites. Oh yes I'm all right Jack.

I wonder -how deep the research these articles by so called 'travel experts' go. Have they ever experienced 'trying to get things done' satisfactorily in Thailand. Have they ever had to jump through hoops at the whim of some surly Immigration Officer, and I'll bet they've never had to pay themselves for private hospital treatment in this Country.

My wife and I and family live happily in the bubble outside a small town in northern Thailand.

We live comfortably but economically whilst not showing off to our Thai neighbors and locals.

Corruption can be found in any country if you look hard enough. It doesn't affect us on a day to day basis.

Not involved in the legal system. Hope not to be, ever.

That's normal status for any peace loving retiree .

  10. That's very good news for Mount Isa little town.

At least they will have some clear air for some time .

Probably train was heading to smelter in Mt. Isa .

I was there working on the contract 10 km near Mt. Isa.....When the smelter works then cloud is covering whole town and surrounding areas on many kilometers.

That's a combination of smoke and steam of acid gasses when inhaled you can't take a breath without pain in lungs....

They stop smelter only when wind blows directly to the center of town .

Center of the town is just less then 1 km from mine and smelter...... and on top of the story just imagine that most of the year temperature in this region is 35 up to 50 deg.sad.png

Officials said 2 years ago that this chimney will be fixed in 3-5 years time but everyone knows that this mine will be close in the same time ...hence just they taking side of mine not local people.

Another thing is that if mine will be close or even partly close then simply not much business for local people ...

That's a little story about clean air in Australia where only money is important ... not the people .

  11. Adain and again.....

Who is trying to feed me with something I just flushed out in my toilet.....

World is beautiful and day after day more ridiculous and funny...

Is someone idiots are trying to kill me with laughing...?????

It looks like Paris tragedy is overturning to stories to make us lough....clap2.gif

I think it is inadequate ......and sad.

    But I'm no wander anymore....

That's our thinking and world today. (not mine.... I'm still old fashioned and my brain ...I think is intact... and functioning to the human standard)

  12. What meant to be normal ...times ago ...Now i is abnormal and opposite.....

    We are to be blamed.

We allow our self's of changing our humans thinking.

We deserved to be reduced to minimum.

We are to be blamed for lost of our mind,

Because we are to be blamed for not using own brain.

Always pushing blame for others ........

  13. A little to late for those who died.....

Most funny and ironical is that this ; this f...wit idiots who are leading "ISIS" state do not realise that those methods they using will works against them.

For more then 2 years I'm trying to understand their motives I came to conclusion .....; ; if they could have normal working brain ...they could be loved for what they are trying to do ...by rest of the world BUT NOT using twisted religion......

World need change but using religions will never work for any nations....... It always crushing .....

    Look at the history.......coffee1.gif

  14. Very clever.

There is a hundreds of ideas to kill yourself but not this way.

Someone on TV said ; " It could be a far more suspect story without the Chain"

    Yes, totally agree .

    Someone very clever did it.

Just my guessing...; kill him with broken glass bottle lock the door with chain to pretend suicide then leave the room .

It is only first floor and it is easy even jump down after all.

First thing I would check his account and activities even long time before his death.

It could be not paying back debtor and loaner dispute.

    Suicide..? I'm not buying it...

Clever but also naive if case comes to good forensic's.

  15. That's what happened in Australia lately.

There is just subject #1 on everyday news .

Media just making it nearly every second day taking it as most important news and " cooking it" in different flavor instead showing tragedy of unemployed young uneducated mass of people having no future and trying every tricks to make a money.

Yes , that's why media is so occupied with bull..t to take out focus of real problems of not only youngsters and also rest of people have hardship in this country which should be better to live then in Arabic oil states.

Unemployment , very high prices for living and careless government does rest of it.

That's just work like hysteria and many just are trying to make money on this subject .

There is also so many divorce cases specially when couples come to the point of dividing assets....so many mothers are trying to get most or all of this deal... manipulating kids and law and just imagine the rest of the horror.

years ago there was a two school students who accused a teacher of molesting....

Poor fellow lost family , work and got punishment and public humiliation for doing nothing wrong.

Two years later those two girls got argued and one of them finally said the truth ......They did it because they wanted punish teacher for very bad marks in school......

Unfortunately in Australia in cases like that (usually) man is accused have to prove his is innocent ......

We are living in dangerous world .

For the money or fame you can be killed or suffer jail sentence because someone can.

    Just modern witch hunt.coffee1.gif
