. Anyway a crack down is not the way to deal with such problems...
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
Criticism can be valid with a viable alternative. Criticism for criticism sake is not helpful to anyone
I have never had a problem with "meter on" but have been turned down sometimes. I guess some drivers live in hope but at the end of the day a fare is a fare! A crackdown to ensure taxi drivers treat locals same as foreigner is ok by me.
Wonder if the taxi drivers have been told about the crackdown?

I hope they tear down all those ILLEGAL piered restaurants. They make the place look like a complete shithole.
The place stinks, it is filthy and you would never know it was a beach at all. The local mafia businesses have stolen that public land for their own.
I would love to see the lot bulldozed into the ground and returned to a beach resort.
They have made their money there judging by the crazy prices for basic Thai food. Now its time to go and open on your own land and return the public beach to the public.
Ate there once a long time ago,seafood.30 mins later i was running to the dunny with clenched cheeks.Just finished and my gf at the time came barreling in.We shared that toilet all New Years bloody Eve.Never went back and didnt eat seafood for a long time.
How DO you share a toilet? Back-to-back legs off the sides?? Missionary?? One in the upper deck one on field level??
The mind boggles (well, mine does), please louse1953 answer this one. Writing is good but a picture speaks a thousand words!

Democracy - Key Elements
In order to deserve the label modern democracy, a country needs to fulfill some basic requirements - and they need not only be written down in it's constitution but must be kept up in everyday life by politicians and authorities:
- Guarantee of basic Human Rights to every individual person vis-à-vis the state and its authorities as well as vis-à-vis any social groups (especially religious institutions) and vis-à-vis other persons.
-
Separation of Powers between the institutions of the state:
Government [Executive Power],
Parliament [Legislative Power] und
Courts of Law [Judicative Power] - Freedom of opinion, speech, press and mass media
- Religious liberty
- General and equal right to vote (one person, one vote)
- Good Governance (focus on public interest and absence of corruption)
Can Thai peoples accept or do this?
Churchill on Democracy «No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time»

Ultimately and sadly, the construction Industry in Thailand is unregulated and what laws there are never enforced by any authority until after incidents like this happen. This is a prime example of Construction industry that has lost its way and out-of-control. Time for the Junta to review this industry too including examine the very people who keep on financing these dodgy developments such as the banks who never carry out due diligence checks on the companies that build them.
I can understand what you are saying but "never enforced by any authority until after incidents like this happen". This has happened in the past and the "authorities" STILL DO NOT ENFORCE. Therein lays the problem!
No one checks anything, no one is made to accept responsibility and no one is punished in a manner that may deter others in the future.

The Chinese are well compensated by free hotels, free tour, and most important of all, FREE VISA for Chinese offered by Prayuth.
I expect Thailand to now increasingly align itself with China and begin dissociating itself with the west. Plan accordingly.
A good start would be for everyone to ignore your attempted scaremongering.
Its not- have a look around at the facts and points he stated- its true that it is quickly headed that way.
What's the big deal about Visa? I am western farang with FREE Visa.

Maybe they will bring in laws to control the horrendous and devious overcharging by lawyers next?
Are you sure you wrote that correctly? I would have thought that "Maybe they will bring in laws to control the horrendous overcharging by devious lawyers next?" Just saying.

A hospital being built in Samut Prakarn collapses with workers killed and a few months later this project collapses with workers killed. If the building inspectors are on site, what are they looking at?
Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect ThailandLooking at their bank balances perhaps? Just speculation on my part.

Very sad, the thought of people still alive under it right now as we sit here typing, in agony with crushed limbs and bones, trapped, struggling to breath, drowning on concrete dust, unable to move, dying, an awful experience.
Do you suffer so graphically for all the people in the world who are suffering as much, or more than these trapped workers? Your life must be hell. Do you believe your empathy helps them in any way? The ONLY positive thing you can do in a situation like this is send money for taking care of the families who lost their breadwinners or for covering medical bills. 'Feeling bad', or even sad, does NOTHING.
A nice and realistic thing to do to help BUT merely patches over the reality of what and why it happened.
Perhaps now is an opportune time for he NCPO (or its agencies) to investigate, assess why it happened, punish (and I mean PUNISH because they caused deaths) those who allowed it to happen and bring in stricter rules - and police those rules - to avoid this happening again in the future? What a wonderful opportunity for the NCPO to show the Thai people that they really do care about everyday occurrences and not just politics.

Just enforce the Drink driving laws
I agree - and it's not rocket science.
Perhaps it is called "pass the buck"? If drink driving does not decrease then blame the brewer!
"We" have been seen to do something! May not be effective but "we" have dealt with the problem.

The best thing to do as you say above is just replace the wife.
I hope you've learned your lesson.
P.s You could also probably get a new screen too.

I spat it out lol
I will try the toothpasteCarefully and lightly so it does not scratch the plastic. This idea has been around for years and is also useful for cleaning headlights that are not glass, on many modern motor vehicles, once the lens has that "cloudy" look.

You people are a sorrowful bunch. Last night you stayed up hoping she wouldn't return so you can make your ugly comments. Now she comes back and you start your insults. Very disgusting group of people here.
this and good luck to Thailand's first female PM who should not be hounded by this pack of TVF dogs
A supporter of corruption I am guessing? Or maybe one who cannot see the trees for the forest?

Cancel the drivers licence, confiscate and publicly burn the car. If he is caught badly driving again or without licence, publicly burn the next car. Maybe then the kid or his rich parents will get the message.
The only beneficiary will be the scrap metal merchants.

Let the U.S. and other allies take out the heavy weapons of ISIS by airpower and deliver weapons to the Kurds ground forces to deal with ISIS terrorists. DO NOT let genocide take place in the mountains where many people have fled for safety.
Cut out all the legal" crap and just do the job. Find a reason to help NOT reasons why help cannot be given. Better a good decision on time rather than a brilliant decision too late.

I don't even understand who would want to ride a motorbike! I hate the things! far more enjoyable is a 1,500 baht " Bicycle " from Big C with " basket and bell " ideal for " cruising about " rather slowly and stopping for a picnic lunch " enroute " ( I obviously live in a different world from most......)
Farang Jaidee
Yes, you do live in a different world from many others. Personally, my imagination stops at why people jump out of a perfectly sound airplane at 10,000 ft with a lump of silk in a backpack to keep them safe.
Motorbikes - well, only motorcyclists understand why a dog loves to stick its head out of a car window.
By being alive we face death every day - what can make the difference is how you mitigate the risks. If you think jumping out of plane or riding motorbike is dangerous? 20,000 people in India die each year with rabies from dog bites!

Light Olive Oil if you can afford it.
From what I have read Canola Oil is the next best option and not too expensive.
From my research a few years ago on oils, Olive oil (Virgin or first cold pressed) good for adding to salads etc. for flavour. Not good for frying - high temps of frying breaks down Olive oil. Best for frying is a vegetable oil such as Canola. I do not buy oil in Thailand so I am not sure of labelling. But, oil LOW in saturated fats is best for your health with pluses being polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. Stay away from Palm Oil. Buy the best oil you can consistent with what you can afford, of course.
And when researching on the internet, see who is behind the results. Is it someone/company who has an interest in pushing a product or results from an independent third party giving validated, peer reviewable results. Much snake oil on internet!

What a load of b**sh*t! This has nothing to do with "How speed will change your life?". Or, maybe, end it. This is all about media grabbing headlines for the companies involved. In other words, just advertising of the promoters/companies and their products in a different way.
But, I am sure that a lucky winner will enjoy his/her prize.

With the military Junta keeping the corrupt at bay and process's lawful, and seeing Thais of the honesty and high moral fibre of these three leading the others towards reform one ( if they are not belongers of the pessimistic 'history is static' or Shinawatra back side lickers to their lawless leadership and elections is everything barstool dribble) is seeing an optimistic future for Thailand. Well done again Khun General Prayuth and keep steering the ship towards democracy for the next few years it is going to take.
What a bizarre post.
Coherent writing was never a virtue of the propaganda machine. When written by a person whose first language is not English? Give the poster a break!
If it had been written in Thai, then I would suggest that the vast majority of TV readers would not understand at all.

"Available records show Mitsutoki also had a Cambodian passport and he used it for travelling in and out of Thailand 14 times. He used two Japanese passports to travel in and out of Thailand 52 times."
"in and out " would appear to be his modus operandi.
Is it normal for a country to issue 2 passports to each citizen?I think the Japanese authorities need to "explain" to NCPO why their citizen has two passports (corruption?). And as a "peace offering" should return the offender to Thailand for further investigation, then NCPO can confiscate ALL his passports pending further investigations. And circulate his details to all immigration offices should he try and leave the country again. If he is found to be not guilty of any alleged offence let him go (keeping one Japanese passport - with the agreement of Japanese Government.

The airport to which an airline lands does affect ticket prices, because of airport charges. Don Muang obviously cheaper than Suvarnabhumi.
Perhaps with seeming demise (or reconstruction of MH as a viable entity) now is the time for Air Asia to step in again with flights to London?

Balcony railings are quite low here in Thailand .
I made many Balcony's and balustrades here in europe , height here is standard 110 cm or higher .
We make them in glass , without stainless or wooden top-rail the glass is 10mm/4 pvb safety foil / 10mm .
1 sheet of glass is "heat strengthened" the other sheet is " heat soaked" .
It's expensive , but safe , the edge is to small to sit on , does not break into pieces , impact resistand .
was that an advert ?
Who cares? At least I learned what "balcony" glass is.

... Let me be the 1st to opine that he did not do this terror campaign for free, and that it was not his idea.
Can you believe it, he did it for fun.
Politically motivated,he believes in the principals of democracy,a freedom fighter, like Ben Gurian, who knows maybe the next PM
OMG - the Jews are involved in this?
And here I was, naively thinking this is about terrorism by "separatists" in southern Thailand. I've got to get out more often!
Crackdown on Bangkok taxi drivers who refuse to accept passengers
in Thailand News
Posted
Criticism without a viable alternative is hardly helpful.
And I wonder if the taxi drivers/owners have been advised of the "crackdown"?
I have never encountered a problem with "meter on" in the last few years, but have some times been refused service. Perhaps some drivers live in hope? At the end of the day a fare is a fare and that has to be a huge improvement over NO fare!
And I do not have a problem with locals being given same consideration as foreigner. Maybe some posters are reading discrimination where perhaps it is not intended.
