  1. Sorry no 3 but you are a tad out of order asking 'kids to stay away from Samui during schoolies week'.

Do you really believe that this only happens on Samui? Have you heard of some of the mayhem that hits Australia's Gold Coast during schoolies week? Same in Kuta, Bali?

Anywhere that there are kids letting off steam in large numbers, mixed with alcohol/drugs/sex and wild partying (and I include the FMP) will invite danger and bring out the worst in a minority of people.

Do not get me wrong - I like your advice to all kids to stay away from Samui, but Samui is like a kindergarten picnic compared to some of the alternatives.

Perhaps they should go to Pattaya?

Schoolies Week on the Gold Coast is pretty well behaved apart from the "toolies" (older trouble maker kids) who cause problems. Usually arrested by Police.

  2. Alcohol, drugs and testosterone are a volatile mix.

Likely to be the problem but then again those who committed the assault actually have no balls at all! sad.png

You wish.......Try telling the poor guy who was attacked that.

They got too much balls, don't give a hoot about anyone, are most likely extremely vicious and that is a problem victims face everyday

Of course I could not and would not tell the victim that. Yes they are vicious.

"no balls" creeps back into the crowd - "not me Sir".

Any person who does not take responsibility for their actions has "no balls"!

  3. "Pornchai said the victim's blood was also found on Wanchai's underwear."

Too much information, thanks. Keep it for the courts. Typical Thai insensitivity, trying to gain a few brownie points... sick.gif.pagespeed.ce.tVTSNn-2vr.pngermm.gif.pagespeed.ce.7f2Kr9k8HC.png

A fact is a fact is a fact, like it or not. I guess there are many ostriches who do not want to acknowledge the truth however unpalatable.

  4. If the Governor deserves to be sacked, then why doesn't NCPO explain those reasons? He is not being transferred or placed in a downgraded position. Isn't an explanation for administrative acition part of accountability, especially in this case where a justufucation seems so obvious? When an independent agency operates without any checks and balances, it creates an image of totalitarian authority that does not adhere to democtatic principles, ie., the right to defend against charges and appeal judgement.

Maybe "face saving"? Whether it is or not, does not really matter - he is accountable and had to go. Someone has to take ultimate responsibility for a number of SRT failures.

  5. Something bad happens down the line, the top guy falls on his sword. As it should be.

This wouldn't have happened before the coup. No matter how high you are, if you screw up, you will be held responsible. Well done!

How exactly did the top guy screw up?

Has a long history of not doing anything? He is also responsible for what his staff do or not do in the course of their duties. It is called accountability.

Yes, the staffer who gave the contract (negligence or lack of due diligence?) to a contractor should also be called to account, as well as the contractor who employed the staff member whom it is alleged raped and killed the young girl.

And the perpetrator of the crime should get life imprisonment for taking the young girl's life.

    Seems simple to me.

  6. "stay in the job saying quitting won't help to solve a problem".

Huh? How has staying in the job improved the SRT? Incompetent is a word that comes to mind. Don't bother transferring to an "inactive post" - just sack him along with his salary and perks.

"but whether the governor would quit or not depends on his own conscience."

Not much conscience if he hasn't quit! Does he (or the Board) not recognise that the buck stops at the top?

  7. I have talked to street vendors, and they told me they all pay money directly to the police.

And no , this money does not go to install better street lights.....

So this will be another dent in the income of the " Royal" Thai police. Go Prayuth !!!

    Careful what you wish for.

Mamma still needs new shoes and if they ain't getting it from the locals in a long established, stable (and yes, brutal) hierarchy, I fear an increase in random pee-in-a-cup stops, or even worse.

Have you anything to fear from peeing in a cup?

Yes, are they sterile cups? cheesy.gif

  8. Damn, I used to be confused now I am lost about this healthy eating.

At 72 years of age, only medication to lower cholesterol level (currently 5.9 mmol/L) on advice from my doctor, eating bacon, eggs, tomato and sometimes baked beans 2 or 3 times a week for breakfast for more than fifty years. 167cm tall and weighing 65kgs, what have I done wrong? I walk regularly, at least 6hrs a week and when in LOS get much sexercise as well (of course smile.png ). And I do eat much fruit (including bananas for potassium), green vegetables and red meat (sans fat) often.

Nearly forgot, I also regularly played field sports (Rugby, Soccer, Hockey) for at least 60 years (incl childhood).

And I don't need to take my teeth out to clean them.

    Edit: added teeth comment.

Here ya go, and you're on track for 100+:

Oldest man in the world lives to 123 on diet of lizards and skunk meat

Maybe he was just 61, but it felt like 123

Maybe I am only 41 and feel like 72? But I do not recall eating lizards or skunk meat though cheesy.gif

  9. Muslims killing Muslims? Possible, but I doubt it in this case. I'd wager that this attack was made by a private non-Muslim on local Muslims not to persecute Islam, but as some kind of retribution, possibly for some loved one(s) killed in the many Muslim attacks in the area.

Unfortunately the Muslim communities in the Middle East are at each others throats. Could be happening down south, hoping the Buddhists get the blame. It is more than possible. Just saying. Who knows?

  10. Start with 'Hoy hoy trap a roach' sticky floored traps then use Bayer Blattanex gel (a poison bait) - the one specific to cockroach. reason for not using the poison first is that you will be ankle deep in dead cokroaches so catch as many as you can first with the traps. Both available from Foodland.

A "hoy cockroach trap" - yes, I can see the connection there cheesy.gif

  11. In this day and age, I can't believe that there are people who still use Explorer.

In what specific ways is it superior to Chrome or Firefox?

Worldwide browser usage stats May 13 thru May 14

North American browser usage stats May 13 thru May 14

Europe browser usage stats May 13 thru May 14

Interesting comment - what is the source of the stats?

    See http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php and https://www.netmarketshare.com/browser-market-share.aspx?qprid=2&qpcustomd=0

Seems to be some discrepancies in claims.

What makes you think you are doing anything wrong? You are at a fit weight and sound to be in good shape.

The bacon is not a good idea, as you no doubt know, and neither is frequent ingestion of red meat, but plenty of people eat both and live long.

If you want to improve the healthfulness of your diet without going to extremes or embracing fads/questionable science, cutting down on the bacon and the amount and/or frequency of red meat would be the obvious modifications, along with adding more fish or other foods high in omega 3s.

Thank you Sheryl and I do recognise your final paragraph suggestions. I have started heading that way, just need to put in more effort.

My "done wrong?" was just a flippant comment for those who advocate fads and questionable science (as you correctly put it). smile.png
