  1. Seems like Musks opinion also matters more than the rule of law (to him at least). He is becoming more and more a liability for all the businesses he's involved in. He said he'd step away and perform a more non-executive chairman role. Why does he still seem to control the day to day business of Twitter? To me it looks like he just needs drama and attention all the time.
  2. Did a transaction over 50k last month with Krungsri. Never signed up for face scan and didn't speak to any branch in a long time. Worked just fine. I used to have a 50k limit on the account which is the default. Just had to get that increased but did that a long time ago.
  3. How can one be evicted from a province? Makes no sense.
  4. I suggest a good search at home. It's not like you can forget the key when somewhere else because you need it to drive the bike home. And if you still manage to forget it while out and about without the bike then why take the key? I've also attached some little accessory to my keys, makes them easier to spot and less likely to lose.
  5. Uhm no it's not. According to the list Turkey is number one in Asia (and in the World).
  6. What kind of sicko calls it entertainment if some person gets impaled and then dies? Seriously messed up.
  7. If that's humor then maybe it better be on the wane 🙂
  8. Why does it matter if he is an engineer? Would it be different if he was a salesman? A pilot? An office clerk?
  9. Either he is innocent then why would he resign? He should then fight the case. Or he is guilty then instead of resigning he should end up in prison. To suggest in either case that he should switch from police to politics is unbelievable. What kind of message does that send? In the first case where he's innocent that would mean that there is no justice. On the other hand if he's guilty that means it's fine to have criminals in politics? Can only shake my head.
  10. So now we are getting AI posts directly from AseanNow and even disclaiming that it doesn't represent the views of the poster? It's marked as an opinion piece but whose opinion is it? Between all the strongly increased trolling, nonsense posters and low quality news content I don't see this stuff helping the site to be honest. At least it's marked as being AI generated. BTW the whole post is using increased font size 😕
  11. The comparisons to other riots are missing that this one was an attack at the heart of the democracy. Certicifcation of a vote. It's an attack on the nation itself and was unprecedented. Harsh sentencing should be expected. To even float the idea of pardons for these attackers is doing damage to the nation. What a never ending disaster this guy is.
  12. No it just means they didn't activate it. If they used a tool they wouldn't see this message. Hu? What does a country need to provide in "security to hackers" for a datacenter? The datacenter does their own security. The sentence makes no sense. Microsoft doesn't care about the slow (because cheap) internet connectivity that end user ISPs like 3BB and AIS provide. Microsoft brings their own connectivity by working directly with Tier 1 carriers. That stuff is not an issue. What I do see as an issue is the lack of legal and political stability. Singapore is a lot better in that regard and one of the reasons why pretty much every cloud provider sits there instead. Plus of course the top notch talent available. And let's not forget that their geographical location is ideal as a center both to the west and east in asia and a huge reason why ISPs developed their connectivity there first. Pretty much all the undersea cables connect there. If you want to connect Bangkok then you always have to detour through the Gulf of Thailand mostly around Singapore anyways. It's just not attractive. MS will make some small local investments. But what they really want is to sell the Thai government their services.
  13. Probably written using OpenAI's Microsoft's ChatGPT. A lot of exagerations sprinkled with halucinations to make it sound bombastic. BS "journalism" is what it is.
  14. "World News" from "LAD Bible" about a random person's plastic surgery? 😞
  15. Thanks for the information of an actual local. Unfortunately on the picture there is no beach visible and on Maps it looked like there are trees all the way to the water line. But I'll trust the word of someone familiar with the area. Do you know if there is anything called Hua Hin in the area?
  16. I stand corrected, seems like they signed recently https://www.oecd.org/tax/automatic-exchange/about-automatic-exchange/crs-mcaa-signatories.pdf My point stands, the CRS has nothing to do with the recent changes because it relates only to funds transferred into Thailand so Thailand already has all relevant information and doesn't need to ask a foreign country.
  17. Looking at google maps I can't see any beach whatsoever in Phang Rat district or Phang Rard as they spelled it. The reporting is so bad...
  18. What? This whole story is getting weirder by the day. Why would the head of the police of Thailand send money to the Move Forward party leader?
  19. Assessable foreign income was always taxed. What changed is what is considered as assessable. Nonsense. After being 180 days in the country doesn't mean that you have to immediately file a tax return. No there is no such requirement and nothing changed in that regard. Some have to some don't. Depends on your assessable income, exemptions and so on. No blanket statement can be made. Lol what? Thailand is not party to the CRS. They do have other information exchange programs though. Also what does it have to do with the recent change which affects money transferred into Thailand? They don't need information from other countries because the money went into... Thailand! Unfortunately the post did not help at all to clear up the uncertainty that seems to be common amongst expats at this time. The author seems to be or was the British Consul to Thailand in Pattaya.
  20. One sided reporting with no-one bothering to present the point of view of the tourist. The video doesn't look like he was going on a rampage. In the current anti-foreigner media campaign climate I'd be very hesitant to believe what is presented in the local media. Doubly so if it's from "The Thaiger" which doesn't seem to have high journalistic standards.
  21. Ok let me rephrase. "Why low value imported goods would have lower tax rates than locally produced". Everyone else probably got it the first time.
  22. It's an old well known tactic from Thaksin. He promises handouts to the mostly poor population in order to get their votes and him into power. He of course never pays with his own money. Then they have to go and find "creative" ways to find the funds. And the population falls for it every time because they are desperate and need the money plus are not well informed. In the end they get screwed over and over.
  23. Man what a shtshow the US political landscape is. It's like a competition of who can shout the loudest nonsense wins. Logic and facts went out the window. Quite scary to be honest. I thought Idiocracy was satire but turns out it was indeed a look into the future.
