  1. The construction of the new Lomprayah Pier in Bangrak has started and should be completed before Christmas. Thus no need to drive all the way to Maenam if you want to use their services. I understand that the pier is build in co-operation with Singha and perfectly legal. Last Monday/Tuesday the ministry was around and checked all. Lets keep the bay clean.

  2. Were any flights cancelled or delayed today because of the haze?

    check this out !

2 or 3 flights left Samui yesterday, I did not see or hear any planes coming in. The 06.00 am this morning also did not take off (probably coz there was no plane available). Haze slightly better at 07.00 am. Would expect the somewhat normal services resume today, clearing all the backlog first. Pretty messy!

  3. Help me understand how on an island running over with police and immigration officers and they do not have a clue what is happening on their island, Oh, I forgot the ole C Word, not cancer, the other Cancer Corruption !!

Koh Samui is known as the most corrupt place in Thailand,....By far !!!

By what measures ? Please verify!

By my own measure,...! In the past 28 years I lived partially in Thailand,... I travelled around constantly with my Jeep, spending a lot of time in and between Chiang Mai And Koh Samui,....Doing visa runs every were around like, Mae Sai, Mae Sot, Ranong, Penang, Vientiane, Savanakhet, Aranyaprathet, Phnom Penh, and everywhere in between,...just for the fun and the adventure....At that time you could do a visa run every month and get a extension or new visa on arrival at a land border....

Out of personal experience and a lot of story's of friends that lived and had businesses on Samui, Koh Samui was the most corrupt place in Thailand.....

Now,.?!?! there is no way to measure corruption ! some people never have trouble with it, others have constantly.

Some people can have a brush with corruption in one place and never in another,.....?!?!?! never did I knew a place with so many Accidents (hit and run), murders and mysterious suicides as Koh Samui.....!!!

    Best regards, Off Road Pat

Your OWN, I see....perfectly entitled to that, but should not generalize.....

  4. Mudcran/Louse1953,

I am not a Baptist, just a normal self respecting person who tries to show respect to those around me.

You on the other hand are a pretty good example of the worst of humanity, while you may not be a pedophile you're off the cuff and puerile comments help to minimize and normalize the actions of those involved in this case.

This was an underage girl, she is not old enough to decide that she wants to be a sex worker. It should not be a reason for idle banter and joviality you sick and unfeeling f#$k.

If it was a relation of you'rs would you be so callous and arrogant?

I think not but I suspect you're intellect can't see that far ahead...

Thank you Bignose you beat me to it.

Making jokes about child exploitation is the lowest form of "humor" if one can call it that. It's a sickness one rung up the ladder from participating in the exploitation.

Sadly many members of TV would be howling for blood if this was on their home country's soil, but here, "Oh, c'mon it just a bit of fun in the sun." says a lot about them doesn't it.

Look you Mother Theresas, before you start preaching consider this: a girl age 15 years and 364 days is not old enough to decide, but 24 hours later she is coz she is 16???? Legally correct, but c'mon, when was the last time you left your house.....

  5. Not sure but on the left between Banrack and Choeng Mon,laid back from the Rd.

Google "Fetish Samui" gets you this:

Currently, there is 0 BDSM / Fetish Escorts near Koh Samui.

    and:

    Erotic Massage Parlors

Ko samui is filled up with massage parlors. The girls will propose them self to you and give you all the naughty suggestions during the massage or even before.

Fetish Clubs (Ping Pong Shows) n/a Transsexuals / Ladyboys
Kathoeys (or "ladyboys") in front of the bar

Known in Thai by the jokey term Kathoey. You may also....

  6. You sure have a twisted view of things if you claim that Samui is dung heap and prefers Buriram...

It is expensive, yes, partly because it's an island, so everything must be transported from the mainland.

But for us who likes to live here on Samui, price is not that of a major issue. Of course don't we all would like prices to be lower? But we do make enough money for it to be worthwhile to stay here.

Now, imma gonna run out of my beach front bungalow and take a dip in the ocean, while you enjoy the elephants (and their dung) over there in Buriram.

Samui becomes a better place every time people who cannot afford to live here move to Buriram, Surin or anywhere North East......it raises the standard here immensely.

  7. Fly over my house at your peril. Had several, not appreciated. Precautions taken.thumbsup.gif

And what do you mean by that Rooo? Your going to get your slingshot out and try and take it down? That would be the worst thing safety wise you could do, maybe you will take out one propeller and the drone loses control and slams into your house or worse!

I own the only legal company that specializes in Aerial Photography on Koh Samui, I have been working with DJI (the world's largest manufacturer of 'drones') and I have recently got Koh Samui airport added to the 'No Fly Zone", meaning that within 1.5km of the airport the drone will not even take off. Even outside the 1.5km radius of the airport there are now height restrictions in place, yesterday I was at Secret Garden in Bangrak and my 'drone' would not go above 50 metres.

My drone still flies, less than 1.5 km from airport. about 20 meters high at least. But sure it is not as advanced as yours.

  8. Still need to be VERY CAREFULL IN SAMUI these days:

    Today :From a friend:

"My DIL works at Samui Airport she called us this morning saying thousands of tourist asked for living Samui to spend Songkran elsewhere in Thailand, also more scary she told us Police are looking for 2 other (supposed) bombs still somewhere on the island (?) "

There are still more than 10 flights available today to BKK alone, so not sure what the problem is of these "thousands of tourists".

  9. There is a new place in FMV (turn right at pier junction) serving Greek Food. Tried it out last Friday during walking street. Extremely busy, food was a bit slow, but good. Nearly as good as the other Greek restaurant near Tesco. Location in FMV though much nicer. Opposite is another restaurant serving Mediterranean food, also nice décor and aircon bar. Otherwise the Soi is very quiet, except walking street days.

  10. Reality is different things to different folks.

Reality to me is having no rest and all of my staff are working their little socks off. They are desperate for a break (but they are earning lots of overtime). I have even had to hire a temp.

Yes we had guests checking out on the 5th, 6th and 7th as Carmine forecast, but then we had check-ins for the 6th, 7th and 8th.

All of the villas that I manage (and that are available for renting) are occupied until the end of Feb with more than half already booked out until mid April.

Maybe the depression is a Chaweng/Lamai thing.

All of the good restaurants (well the ones that I visit) are very busy, That's in Bangrak and Choengmon. Of course, there are those who never have enough money and grumble about how 'quiet' it is.

I was in Antica Locanda (Bangrak) the other night and they complained saying 'busy but now quiet'! By the time we finished our meal the place was full with people queueing. They could not take any more customers.

Another factor that I use for gauging how busy we are - car hire. Both companies that I use have no cars available for customers. They are having to borrow cars from their friends.

For those of you working out there - I hope that your businesses have a successful 2015 and if you are suffering in the deprssion - may things improve for you at Chinese New year. Or Easter. Or Songkhran.

Agree, I need a break too. Since just before Christmas non-stop action.....and the first week of this year started excellent too.

  11. I think Fishermans Village is the nicest and most up-market area in Samui. Through April and May I stayed at The Lodge which is right on the beach in Walking Street. There are 50 restaurants and bars in its 400 metre length (no girly bars or massage parlours). I could lie on my bed and gaze out of my window at the ocean and Koh Phangan island and nothing stirred in the street until about 10AM. And the tastefully designed The Wharf shopping centre has just attachicon.gif20140519_123402.jpgopened in Walking Street with 120 outlets. I think I paid 24,000 per month all included.

Hope you are not serious! Agree with the Lodge though.
