  1. I am not staff nor co owner of ark bar.. I have no connection with the place, I only go as a customer

But It's wrong that you people judge only arkbar...

Dont you at least agree that all the bars clubs I. That area contribute to the noise?

Ark Bar IS the main culprit, believe it or not. The sooner the army comes and cleans up Samui the better, starting with Ark Bar.....

Your connection to local police will then be as useless as a fridge in the Arctic.....

One can only hope. I hear they are very connected. Must be, to have gotten away with the kind of churlish behavior they have demonstrated towards the community, and their neighbors all these years. Whether or not the army will be able to get them to quiet down, will be a testament to how connected these guys are. Let us hope their connections will mean nothing, at that point in time, when the government shows respect to the people.

I am sure the brother of the mayor who has a resort nearby will have some input as well. Its an utter disgrace......

  2. THIS IS THAILAND. THIS IS ASIA. Noise pollution, air pollution, water pollution, garbage disposal everywhere, even right next to 5-star hotels.

Asians couldn't care less... many Caucasians as well.

Nikki Beach Resort on Samui so noisy, even the Thai staff is complaining. But life must be a party 24/7/365.

I moved away from Samui because of noise and crazy traffic. Where i am now it is much better but still too noisy for my taste.

In a couple of years it might be same same.

I feel the same as Spidermike.

Since when does NB plays loud music 24/7 ? Even on a Sunday its not too loud to have a conversation, and the rest of the week the place is half dead......no need to generalize here!

  5.

flight from Nakhon Sri Thammarat to Bangkok.... what  are they doing in Phuket as this is not on their route.... ?  coffee1.gif

Ayoooooo!!! On all routes in the event of an emergency; the pilot has to find the nearest airport to make an emergency landing.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Nearest would be Surat Thani....and even then it still doesn't make sense...something is not right here.

  6. You don't want to land on Samui with this weather, that's for sure. Zero visibility. Sometimes the planes make a go around after attempting to land, but yesterday no way. I was diverted once to Surat, about 3 years ago, and then flown on same plane to Samui 45 minutes later. Better be safe......

  7. July and August are known as high season (from what I can gather). December and January are known as peak season.

We are pretty busy at the moment - most of the villas have customers or owners staying. (80 - 90%?)

I also use my local car rental guy as a measure. If his land is full of rental cars - it is quiet. At the moment - only about 4 vehicles there (he has about 15 to 20) so I guess that the island is pretty busy. At the pointy end anyway.

Still quiet for the bars. Another two closed in Bangrak recently. Samui's visitors these days are just not into bars, and I guess that with the immigration people clamping down, there will be a few less 'local' foreigners as well. Steps at the minimarts and 7/11s are still popular for some imbibers though.

Restaurants where I eat are doing OK numbers wise. Not packed - not empty.

Overall it is getting busier I am happy to say....

Picture in article is misleading, not Koh Samui but Koh Phangan.

  8. A said before, curfew is NATION wide and Samui is included (so is Phangan and Tao). The early closing of your 7/11 stores is a start. It all depends how long the curfew lasts, i.e. a few days or longer. If longer, you can bet that curfew will be implemented here as well. If you have no business outside after 10 pm then why bother going out anyway. Lets hope it will be over soon as it does affect businesses.

Today in BKK is government holiday btw....

ERM . . .If you have no business outside after 10 pm then why bother going out anyway. What an asinine thing to say! Why does anyone ever go outside their house!?! A thousand reasons! Have you forgotten sitting on the beach in the moonlight or watching a lightning storm at sea? Going to visit friends? Or maybe you have no friends to visit. One of the sheer joys of Thailand, and Samui in particular, is that one can come and go as one pleases, whenever one pleases, without needing any particular reason or being bound by the clock. (Although from the sound of what you've written above it looks like joy is something you're not too familiar with!)

Really? Samui putting its livelihood at risk by herding the cash cow tourists up the street with batons? 5-star hotels telling their guests they can't go out at night for a buffet and a show in Chaweng? Samui will have a blanket curfew at about the same time that the Samui police begin automatically stopping motorbike riders for not wearing helmets or taxis for not using their meters - both are which are enforced by law everywhere else in the country. Didn't you realise we're the last outpost of the Wild West?! thumbsup.gif.pagespeed.ce.dtxKiAJ9C7.gif

May be I did not make myself clear, but then again English is not my native language (I had to look up the word "asinine", if you would have written "extremely stupid" you could have saved me some time)) and I do not rely on the very few friends I have (I am careful choosing them). Anyway, what I meant is that if the curfew is enforced then what real reason do you have to go out after 10.00pm. And where I come from I can go out any time of the day/night as well, there are more places in the world where that is possible, not only Samui. Anyway, no point arguing with you or anyone who associates 'joy' with sitting on the steps of the local 7/11 drinking cheap booze......thumbsup.gif
