Great; thanks Joe

Thanks Joe.
But even if it's a measly week or so, immigration will allow it?

Hello All and Happy Father's Day in Thailand!
I have two questions and hope someone will be able to help me.
1. I'm soon due for a 90 day extension on my ED visa. The date of extension is 5th January, so a month. If I go to immigration before that date, will they extend 90 days from that date or 90 days from the 5th January (giving me a bit longer than 90 days)?
2. If I do end up going early each time, and have actually spent less than a year on that visa (say for instance I have 40 days left), will they give me a 5th extension (obviously paying more than the normal 1900 x 4) up to the date that would have put me on a year, being 365 days I presume.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi All
I have an iPhone 5 to sell and am wondering where is the best place to sell in Bangkok and at what price I can expect to get for it.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Do you think they're looking for overstayers and illegal workers or simply road/traffic offences?
-
Over fear of not being able to speak English. I'm guessing they just can't be bothered and they're not going to be able to extract any money out of you.

C'mon. Let's not split hairs here

3 months and fluent in reading and writing. what a load of crap.Don't panic. It's just an issue with immigration. It really isn't that hard, and just practising with the school will help a great deal. I've done it over 3 months and in fluent in reading and writing.
Yeah, Frank, clearly a load of old crap. If you're a student, clearly you're not dedicated to your studying. It's entirely possible.

A 400 baht fine or a 400 baht bribe?
-
Maybe 'fluent in understanding' would be more appropriate. Getting the tones correct is the hardest part.

Three months and I'm fluent in reading. I can't understand what it means because that involves learning vocabulary intensively and anyway over time is something you'd pick up anyway.

That's great. What's with the staying left though?

Ohh, sorry! How dumb of me. Thanks though.

What is a PITA?

Morning All
Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
There are several police checkpoints on the roads over Bangkok, mostly in the non-central areas and fairly frequently pass through these when on motorcycle. Now I am confused about is what exactly these police are looking for... It baffles me. I've been pulled over several times for unknown reasons and told to move on when my helmet visor goes up revealing that I'm a farang that doesn't speak enough Thai to get an answer out of them.
So, are they looking for drunk-drivers, kids without licenses, illegal stayers/workers, no tax, no helmets or simply money? Whilst I am (as a foreigner) not breaking any rules, I don't want to be caught and cheated by the bribery system, if that's what they're there for.
Has anyone got any ideas what it might be/or know a police officer??
Cheers in advance guys.

I'm guessing Vientiane is still handing them out for 4 hours then.

Hi All,
I'm hearing from various people that there is now a measure in place in regards to applying for a Thai Non IM ED. Some people are saying you need to study 4 hours a week, some 8, some 12 & and even 25 to get a year visa. I'm talking about private language schools in Bangkok, not universities.
Does anybody have any up-to-date information about this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
I need to get my extension of stay done and wondered when the best time of day to visit is?
I was thinking of arriving late about 4pm, 30 minutes before it closes. Is that wise?
Thanks

I guess the only downside to doing this, is that you would need to do your 90 day reporting after 90 days, not the final additional extension day.
