Thanks a lot. Not sure how easy it is to 1, get a new passport in Bangkok, and 2 transfer the ED visa to the new passport within Thailand... Would you know??

Hi all
I am doing a Visa run to Laos over the next couple of days and whilst slightly off topic, I would like to know if the visa given to you on arrival at Laos for British passport holder covers a whole page? Or is it simply a small stamp? I ask only because I have about three pages remaining, and it needs to cover my educational visa that I will be applying for in Laos.
Is 3 blank pages in the whole passport enough for all those things??
Any information is appreciated.
Thanks

Is there a way you can get the visa without actually having to leave Thailand? For example, taking your passport themselves to Laos?

What about with visa run companies?
I hear they're processed faster.

That's good news then. Thanks Joe

Hi all
Does anyone know of any long queues with visa applications? I am planning on converting my visa very soon and am concerned about whether or not they are having troubles/back logs with applications.
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks

Okay, well I tried and failed.
It turns out part-time courses cannot be changed in the country and travelling to a neighbouring country's Thai consulate is unavoidable.

Hi All
Does anyone know the law on tasers, batons and pepper spray whether they're legal or not?
I know you can buy them all in markets and night bazaars and they're all readily available but that doesn't mean they're legal.
In a lot of counties they're considered a firearm. I know Thailand is relatively safe but for added security a lot of people have or are considering buying one of them. I posted this in the 'Ask the Lawyers' section but no reply unfortunately
Any info is appreciated.

Does that mean you'll still get an additional 30 (or 45) days or would you lose the days that haven't passed?

The pennies do indeed add up. I mean back in the UK the banks would provide you with bags detailing the number of each denomination of coin allowed in a single bag. Do the banks do the same here?
The orphanage does seem like a pretty cool idea though.

I mean I'd like to get rid of them all in one go as opposed to buying my weeks grocery shopping in 1฿ coins.
Is that what you mean?

Hi guys
This is probably a weird one but I'm finding myself bringing pocketfuls of Thai Baht coins home with me everyday. They're going into a pot but that's filled up pretty fast.
Does anyone know a place I can get these exchanged for it's wonderful paper kind? Don't particularly want to go into a bank and embarrass myself.
Thanks a lot

Might be worth a go. Worst case scenario: I have to go to Laos for a couple of days. Will post back when it happens.

Anyone heard about being able to change from a tourist visa to a non-ED at Cheng Wattana?
Apparently it's possible without the need to go to Laos or a neighbouring country and it's approximately the same cost of 1900 baht.

That's the one!

Also, I was sent to the re-entry desk on the Thailand side as the officer mistakenly thought I needed one. So apparently you can get one at the border. Would have saved me the time and effort but hey ho.
Advice appreciated anywho.

How unfair. All I want to do is gamble at the casino. I suppose it's Cambodia's way of making a couple of extra bucks. Just a pain really.

Hi all
I have recently travelled to and from Cambodia via Aranyaprathet (Poi Pet on the Cambodian side).
On arrival I got a visa and got it stamped but never actually travelled outside that area where there are several casinos.
My plan is to go back and just go to the casinos in the area. I'm not sure whether I am officially 'in' Cambodia and whether obtaining a visa on arrival is necessary. Will probably stay in one of the hotels in that area overnight and jump back into Thailand the next day.
Has anyone had any experience with this before?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Great success. Went to Hollywood Major today. Not waiting too long. Paid the fee with the application form filled in and after about 15 minutes I was on my way.
It's a bit out of the way though, even for myself with a motorbike.

It does state that it's for the 3 national legalised labour countries only. That's Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos.
I have a British passport and would hope not to make a wasted trip to this immigration office. I was hoping to go tomorrow since I'm planning on going to Cambodia on Sunday but the office that doesn't state it's for those 3 countries is only open from Monday as you said.

I've just gone through immigration at swampy 28/28

Surely it's risky asking these questions to immigration officers though as that may point them in the direction that you're not a tourist which will lead them to further questions to then face possible deportation no?
I don't know. I would have possibly kept quiet about it all. For most people it's time to leave and get the right visa.
