Hi All
I am holding a triple entry tourist visa obtained from the UK with my British passport.
Last week I activated my second entry in Aranyaprathet (Poi Pet, Cambodia) after spending a night there. The casinos were great, so great that I want to go back next week. It's a shame there are no casinos in Thailand!
My question is, am I able to obtain a re-entry permit at this border so that I don't waste 7 remaining weeks on my second (current) stamp?
Any advice is appreciated. Even better if someone has actually done this themselves.
Thank you

Peter, Yes, well in the eyes of the Thai law I'm not married. I'm in a same-sex civil partnership registered in the UK. Thailand unfortunately doesn't recognise this full-stop so that option doesn't work for me.
The ED is on it's way now. I got my school to sort it this afternoon.

I was thinking that. Might ask the school to start processing the documents now actually then.

Thanks Joe.
I'm guessing either way is a safe option then.

Thank you Mario. Do you think I should continue to use my remaining entries up or should I just get the ED paperwork sorted and applied for soon?

Hi All,
I am a 24 year old British passport holder with a triple entry tourist visa obtained from the UK.
I arrived in Thailand in mid-April with the hope of staying long term. I am living in my unmarried Thai partner’s house in Bangkok so therefore have no hotels booked, no return ticket like most tourists have. I will need to do a border run, say to Poi Pet soon to activate my second entry soon and wondered if there is a chance I will have any trouble coming back into the country on the same day.
I arrived in Thailand with enough money to comfortably support myself for just over a year and have no intention of working anytime soon. If I do, then I will apply for the appropriate visa and work permit. I don’t want to break the law.
My concerns are with this news on border run crackdowns which are impending in the not too distant future.
I have signed up for a Thai language school and am eligible for the ED visa but have told the school to hold off on processing the documents just yet as I still have time on my tourist visa. I have started the classes already and unlike some that use the schools purely for visa purposes, I genuinely want to learn.
Am not sure if it’s worth just getting the documents processed now and using that visa to continue studying Thai language now or whether it’s safe to use the TR visa. I’m not sure that if I come back into Thailand from the outside and get questioned, is it a bad idea or not to state that I am signed up for a school or not (which I can prove through receipts etc).
I’m quite the worrying type, so wondered if anyone could give me some advice on the best route forward for me to stay long-term in the wonderful Land of Smiles!
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

I'm a British passport holder with a triple entry tourist visa in Bangkok.
Soon I need to activate my second entry and wondered where the quickest and cheapest place to do a visa run is.
I can get to Cambodia no problem by car by my own means but if I do a visa run there, do I need to have a visa or can I just go to the border and get a second stamp?
Is there possibly any easier way with a good visa run company?
Any info is much appreciated.
Thank you

Your reply was literally 3 hours too late! I have just signed up to Walen yesterday afternoon.
Really appreciate the reply. Very helpful but bad timing for me

I'm just staying clear altogether of KL. I hear they are very awkward people.

Great, thank you very luch. I have already posted another question in the relevant section but do you have any recommendation on a good school in Bangkok for a genuine and eager learner?

Thank you, have you yourself obtained the visa yourself?

Apologies, I'm holding a British passport and I am currently in my first week of a 3 entry (6 month) tourist visa.

I am currently looking for a school to study Thai language, hopefully to a good standard.
Is there any recommendation on country best for applying for this sort of visa? Has anyone had any experience of doing this in Hong Kong?
Thank you in advance

I am in Bangkok now looking for a school. I do understand that a lot of these Thai schools are basically visa farms as a way of getting around the immigration thing but I am genuinely wanting to obtain an ED visa and learn Thai to a good standard.
Does anybody have any recommendations for a good school?
Thank you

With the Disclosure Scotland option for obtaining police checks within the UK, is a 'basic' check sufficient to highlight only unspent convictions within the UK or is a standard or enhanced check what the Thai government are looking for?

Ah, I'm guessing they have a habit of using their 30 day stamps for non-visa tourists.
That's great advice. Thank you.

Thanks all.
Has anyone ever had problems, or been questioned at immigration about your intentions within Thailand.
I know that over here in the UK, if they realise that your intentions are not tourism (as stated on your visa) such as to find work or look for a school, they'll put you on the first plane home. My worst fear!

Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you very much. So Thai Immigration aren't interested in when I am leaving as such? It's just for their records once I do actually leave the border?

Hi Everyone,
I have a question regarding the landing cards and passport control when entering Thailand. I am a British citizen planning on going to Thailand with mu partner long-term. I have been issued with a triple entry tourist visa to enter the country and whilst I am there, plan on joining a language school to obtain an ED visa to stay. I haven't quite figured out the WP side of things just yet, but am in no rush to do that.
Upon arrival to Bangkok of course I will need to fill in a landing card and wonder what I should put on the departure side of the card. I don't know when I am leaving the country. It will of course be within the 60 days I am allowed on each entry but am concerned they will question me. It will most likely be via Cambodia on a visa run, by bus, so would I use that on the departure card or could I leave it blank?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thank you

Right, okay.
Thank you. Do you know of anywhere (possibly in Bangkok) I am able to obtain a re-entry permit?
