Interesting, thanks.
So if I don't take the second one, Astra, I could take 2 Moderna. Hmm confused.
I guess if I take Astra, then I'll still need two Moderna to satisfy some countries
Actually 2 AZ jabs will satisfy more countries requirements than any other combination.

I keep thinking, just a little bit longer and it will be over? Can travel again, eat in restaurants, have friends come to Thailand to visit etc. But after 18 months of dealing with ever changing restrictions I need a break! I am going to return to the USA for a couple of months and come back when the conditions are better? At some point it is just not fun here anymore.

For those that are interested a really good site is "Snakes of Hua Hin" You can submit a picture and the administrator is very good at identifying snakes. I am amazed at how many there are around here? I see very few, but people from around the area and in the city submit pictures everyday and there are a lot of very nasty ones such as spitting cobras which I didn't know even existed in this area?

How many customers will restaurants get if they demand proof of double vaccination? Methinks a lot of places will ignore that requirement just to make some money.
I asked my Thai wife what she thought about checking the papers of all customers? She just laughed!

If 2 vaccinations are really required they might as well remain closed!

I guess it depends on the school? I paid for a couple of students for a 4 year university in BKK and seems like it averaged about 30,000 baht a semester plus books and housing if needed?

I also took 1 sinovac and am due to get AZ on sept 7th. I plan to go to the USA on 12 Sept. At first I thought I would take the AZ on the 7th and then take a booster when in the usa? However not to mention the health risks there is the problem of what various countries consider fully vaccinated? Many don't accept a mix. So maybe I can take a J&J as a third jab but not sure of the timing? I am now thinking that the better idea is to not take the AZ on the 7th and instead wait and take 2 of the Pfizer which now has full FDA approval. That would solve the acceptance of vaccination question. I can get into the usa with just a covid negative test. No quarantine and vaccines of choice available everywhere. Just walk in and request. You might need to get before going to the UK to avoid quarantine? Call around and try to find where you might get the Pfizer vaccine if you have the time?

This article says that unemployment was 1.06 percent in the first quarter and if not opened it might go to 2.5 percent by the end of the year?
anywhere else those figures would indicate an overheated booming economy?
There must be something that I don't understand?

I walk on this section of the beach many mornings. There have always been some Thai's collecting shellfish from the rocks at low tide. But in the last week or so the tides have been extra low and there have been more people harvesting the mussels etc. than I have ever seen before!
The wife bought a few kilos of the mussels and cooked them up. She and her family love them but not really my choice of seafood.

I believe that they stopped doing the ACH transfers from USA to Bangkok Bank many months ago. The transfer that was sent probably will not go through and will be returned to the sender.
Now it has to be sent another way, such as bank wire.

A good way to make money is to buy failed businesses for pennies on the dollar!
Sounds like poor planning on someones part?

I wonder where the forthcoming lamda and epsilon outbreaks will start and whether the Thai miracle vaccine cocktail of AZ+SV will work wonders with them.
Does this kind of make you think that there will be no end to this? The new varient of the week?

Today alone were 102 positives. For the last week it also hoovers around 100 per day. Together they have already thousand at hospitals, hospitels.
So they had to shut down the whole island shortly sandbox started. Closed air port for domestic flights, bar charters to Utapao 3x per week. Tourists are stranded there and no domestic tourism allowed in.
Samui has only some 10 tourists per day. Again, airport closed.
Such copy of sandbox for pattaya, hua hin won't work at all. Completely different circumstances. It's not possible isolate those places from the rest of country - they are in a very middle of thailand, not in remote borders, as phuket and samui.
Lines drawn in sand.
I think that the important part to note is that virtually none of the new positives were caused by the vaccinated tourists!

Thailand is in dire economic life-support condition now. It needs tourists to survive - Time to pivot away from tourism is not an option in the short term anyhow.
Drip feeding tourists into Thailand is a complete waste of time, It needs mass tourism and it needs mass tourism now, not drip, drip, drip. Too few tourists arriving is as bad as none at all - a handful of people visiting a hotel or restaurant wont keep it afloat !
so option 5. Abandon Sandbox and Cancel COE, PCR tests, Quarantine, flash your vaccine passport and get on with tourism with Sandbox
The danger is not from the vaccinated tourists. The real danger is to the tourists from the deep red zone! Having entry requirements other than vaccination, has no benefit to Thailand. At one time maybe it did? But now that covid is so widespread, it makes no sense?

Checking the Facebook page again for Hua Hin Hospital. It looks like they are getting some vaccine in as the line has gone from around 3200 to 7396 since 9 July. It is Sinovac for the 1st and AZ for the 2nd. No preference for over 60. Just going by assigned number as per registration.
Good to see that they are getting some vaccine.

I just had my wife call Hua Hin Hospital and check on availability to get vaccine of any kind. She was told that there has been no vaccine this month yet and no idea when any will be available. Also it makes no difference how old we are the que remains the same for all. So not the same for all areas of Thailand.

No issue mixing shots?
That's what they are offering here in Hua Hin. The problem now is that Since 9 July the Que is at around 3200 and has not moved as of last night? I'm at 10,900+ .
I guess they just are not getting any vaccine here?

With your situation, take what you can get when you can get it. It's that or go completely unprotected. I would not reject Sinovac if that is all there is.
I kind of agree, but wonder if it will be ok to take Moderna or other more effective vaccines on top of the Sinovac?
-
I am in Hua Hin and was scheduled to get my first dose of AZ at HH hospital 9 July. They did not cancel but let us show up and eventually told us there was no vaccine.
Since I am over 70 with High Blood pressure they told me to check back on the facebook site and issued me a new que number of 10,900 plus. Now instead of getting AZ vaccine they are giving Sinovac! So looks like a very long wait to get a not so good vaccine?
I have paid for Moderna but who knows when that will be available?

Not sure about Thai law but in the USA and I think here also, Minors can own property but cannot sell or transfer it until they reach legal age. Easy to put into their name but maybe a major problem later on?
-
Are you sure you have to have a PCR test?
You didn't say where you were going to?
Many countries such as the USA now allow a lot of much less expensive tests.

Supply problems again at the only vaccine manufacturing plant. It would have been cheaper just to have important better Mrna vaccines months ago or even yesterday.
Astra and Sinovac aren't much good against variants. Yesterday Singapore has stopped excepting people who enter that use Sinovac as there vaccine. There goes a wealthy bubble.
I think the one here would be AZ? or can take a chance and wait for Moderna?

My friends GF has been waiting many months? I think its pretty slow right now? You can check the embassy web page for current wait times.
