''with nearly a third suggesting only taxpayers should get it for free ''......... there are no tax payers in my village     !

If I have to pay then I will have the right to choose the most effective vaccine.... hopefully the private hospitals will know which type to give.

I want the vaccine and don't mind paying for it. However the Sino version is only 50% effective and I sure don't trust the Chinese! Hopefully the private hospitals will have a choice?

  2. Seeing polls like this really helps to keep me grounded and reminds me of the reality of how we are seen and appreciated.  I think that I will make a copy of the part about being "forced to take and pay" for vaccine and tape it to the wall by my computer. As I get requests for money to pay for her kids education, Mom's hospital bills, her car repairs, or a new car or a house, etc. I can reread this over and over!

"Thailand will replace testing and quarantine with a vaccination requirement, for all visas and visa extensions, within the next 3 months."   In view of how far behind Thailand is on obtaining the vaccine, I think you are a litte optomistic in your time line?

I also think the WHO should be involved in the design of the Certificate.

The same WHO that follows Whatever China tells them to say?

    Somewhat myopic.

What about the workers who support the other 78% of Thailands GDP ?

Vaccinate those in high risk groups, the elderly first, front line workers (medical families).

Then those who work with the pubic etc etc...  which of course includes those in the tourism industry.

Then it will be another year as most travel related people would be in the last group to receive the vaccine as they are young.

Trying to do this by the numbers is making for a very slow program in the usa. Lots of unused vaccine sitting on shelves as they try to get the right people in to vaccinate in an orderly way.

Are they stored in an area that has humidity or moisture? When I moved into my condo it had a shoe cabinet so I put several shoes and sneakers inside. I few months later I opened it and they were all covered with dust and mold. I was able to rub 3 of them clean, but had to throw out 3 others. The other side of the cabinet faces the shower and I suspect that moisture seeped in to contributed to mold growth.

The above items are in various rooms in my Bangkok city townhouse. It is usually air conditioned but of course humidity is always high. Still not sure of the cause of this? Never see mold on them?

You're confusing exchange rates with inflation.

Maybe, But while the official inflation rate has not gone up much the cost of things in the USA is rising fast! The cost of housing and about everything relating to housing is going up like crazy! I'm in that business there. The exchange rate has dropped a lot in the last few years and looks like it will continue to to so? With the huge deficit spending in the USA I expect it to continue.

You'll only be allowed in the domestic one.  It's right next to Bangkok Airway's all passenger lounge and is OK for a little while, but don't expect to be pigging out on the food available.

They say this is airside but it is actually before you go through security. Like treetops said: It's OK but not near as nice as the Miracle Lounge. Sure beats sitting at the gate!

I'm scanning the news headlines today, several days after Trump's bombshell, and I can't find any news of any appreciable number of Republican congress members (or maybe even ANY) expressing public support for his $2000 payments proposal.

"Senator Roy Blunt, a member of the GOP leadership, said there were not enough Republican votes in the Senate to pass the $2,000 payments.

“I hope the president looks at this again and reaches that conclusion that the best thing to do is to sign the bill,” Blunt told reporters."

    https://fortune.com/2020/12/25/us-covid-relief-stimulus-package-checks-pelosi-trump-republicans/

And some further explanation from CNET re the bipartisan $600 bill that's already passed Congress and now waiting on Trump:

"If the president would veto the bill, Congress would have time to try to override the veto. But if the president would just let the bill sit on his desk without signing it, the bill would simply die when the current congressional term expires on Jan. 3. This would force the new Congress to start the process all over again."

The thing is, that the money for these bills does not exist. We here in Thailand are effected directly by the drop in value of the dollar due to inflation.

I walk the beach most mornings between the Hilton and Market Village and have not noticed much of a problem? Not near as many soi dogs around as there used to be?

Are you sure your photo is from Thailand...because never ever seen a beach as clean as the one on the photo..;-)

Hua Hin beaches are like this most of the time. Especially now with few tourists.

As for the air pollution in Bangkok: I've been there several years and have a problem with items made of leather, vinyl and rubber Disintegrating. My office chair, headphone ear pillows, the rubber gasket on my laptop, a pair of expensive dress shoes, the liner of my motorcycle helmet etc. Not sure of the cause? I think maybe air pollution but a friend thinks it is caused by a bacteria?

  11. My brother and his 2 early 20's sons got it recently. The boys had mild allergy symthoms, he had a sore throat and mild fever for 3 days. He lives near Chicago. Another friend and his family from the midwest USA got it recently. Tested positive but none of them were really sick.

Took me years before I realised that some parents actually love their children and want them around in their life.

That's not a regret in my life though, as I never really knew them- banished to boarding school and worked in the holidays.

Some of us believe that we do chose our parents. Sad that yours did not work out? But you still ended up here!
