A family of six
I feel sorry for the provider. Anyway, I never ask the driver to use the meter. I just offer the driver a sum of money that I feel comfortable with. If he's not interested, I'll ask the next driver.

Six granola bars and a few liters of water for the entire team total. they went in for 3 hours not a 3 month trek....
Correct. Nobody can foresee the future, (except the fortune teller monk mentioned before). It was a freak accident due to weather conditions, and now people want to find a scapegoat or someone to blame! What's the matter with people?

Somphet Phetprom, 48, said he was delivering sand to a construction site in Thanya Buri when his brake system malfunctioned as he reached the intersection
Pathetic statement. Somphet; nobody will believe this , and you know it. The brakes just happened to "malfuction" when you reached the intersection? Of course they where ok before, or you would have stopped (with the handbrake?) to investigate your "brake problems".

So from 2012 to 2018 there have been 10 deaths of foreigners on this island, I don't think it would take much to work out who did it, just see who was on the island on the those dates and go from there, but then again, do they want to expose who did it, that is the question, money talks, corruption walks.
RIP, gone far too early
I can understand getting rid of 'competition', but that would not include normal tourists. What could they possibly gain from this?

I actually ate at one of these so called 49 baht steak joints. The steak was a pork steak, no beef was sold in the place.
Had it been beef, you'd still be chewing it.

I think was a fair question, but considering your nickname, it's obvious that you're one of the 'follow-orders-do-not-ask-questions' type of persons.
Have a nice day Sir.

Thai's don't need to present a passport for domestic travel, they do need to present their Thai ID card.
Thais don't need a passport, period. Most Thais don't have one.

We are talking about what the law says, other than the opinion of an IO this is kinda fixed
What the law says does not matter! If the IO want you to produce a passport, you'd better do it.

A rather large can of glue cost about 70 baht.

Wat a disgusting remark! Me and my family will NEVER go on a thai boat again...I already have been on a sinking boat to Riley where i had to hose water with a bucket all the way or we would sink...Even the outboard motor broke off it's stand while we were on sea, me and my mate had to grab and hold it or it would have been on the seabottom.
And all they care about is money....money money money...
Maybe the same reason you choosed to stay in this country?

All mom&pop type of shops have ice boxes outside.
