  1. Of course he has - from the OP:- "Adding to his woes is a modest private pension that fails to deliver the retirement he envisioned." And I am sure that he will have some sort of pension from the Bank where he worked. As an aside, I remember a few years ago when a bank(s) had to be bailed out by the Government because of bad investments, but it still didn't stop them from paying out bonuses to those who had made the bad investments in the first place!!!
  2. And what about the pound that bounces round the Phillippines or the USA or.....?
  3. But - but - but (Sir!) Keith Starmer said at the Summer Conference last year that "All pensioners - ALL pensioners will be better off under Labour". That of course was just before he scrapped TV licences for the over 75's (Wonder how much that saved?) and scrapped the Old Age Winter Fuel Allowance for most pensioners.
  4. One thing that annoys me about this subject is that the Government can freeze pensions in certain countries because they do not have a "reciprocal" agreement with the UK, although I have paid contributions all my working life, and I get a small pension from my previous employer that is increased every year with no questions asked as to where I am living. This subject has been covered in depth many times, and I remember prior to the last General Election, one of the Labour candidates promised that he/she would bring it up in the Commons as a "priority" Needless to say, once Labour got in, it was "swept under the carpet" AGAIN, along with other broken promises and turnarounds by Starmer & Co. ***STOP PRESS*** Today's Government release re increase in pensions:- "Minister for Pensions Torsten Bell said: Raising the State Pension and rescuing the NHS – these are this government’s priorities to give all pensioners the dignity they deserve in their retirement. Those who have worked hard throughout their lives, paying into the system, are owed nothing less." He means of course, all pensioners EXCEPT those that have their State Pensions frozen, but it sounds and looks better to say "ALL"!!!
  5. It's a gut reaction type of thing. Besides, Thais think more of animals than they do of people - hence the number of fatalities/attacks by Pit Bull/Bully XL dogs rather than ban the "Devil Dogs"!
  6. "Witnesses reported hearing desperate cries for help during the disturbance, but no one intervened." Typical non-response these days - nobody wants to get involved. Could someone not have just called the police? Oh, sorry, this is Pattaya, the family friendly resort and all of the police will have been out and about in the streets keeping law and order!
  7. Lipton tea is tasteless colourless c**p! Try Tesco Lotus - they usually have a selection of Twining's brews.
  8. I've been here for 20 years and never actually seen a fight, despite living in a tourist area! I would also say that in my home town in the UK I could see a fight in the City Centre every weekend!
  9. "Brit"? Named and shamed again. Why not "foreigner" as is frequently the case when "farangs" are involved?
  10. I didn't realise they still made it - I remember drinking it as a kid 70+ years ago!
  11. Actually - from memory, (pre 2015) the price of Nescafe Red Cup compared very favourably with its equivalent in the UK, Nescafe granules - in fact, considerably cheaper.
  12. Starmer and him make a good pair! 😞
  13. ".......is the intellectual equivalent of blaming gravity for tripping over your ego." Nice turn of phrase - I like it!
  14. So where did you hear that she was pregnant and he kicked her in the stomach? I recall reading that he kicked her from behind, (which could be construed as even more cowardly) and he said that he slipped. Watching the rather indistinct video, it's funny how the "slip" was followed up with not an apology, but by shouting "get the f**k off, get the f**K off"!"Additionally, if someone slips, they nearly always make some gut reaction sound (like "Oh,s**t or something similar) but I can't hear anything to that effect here! Also I can't remember it being mentioned anywhere that she was pregnant. Anyway, he comes across as being an arrogant rich foreigner who thinks he can treat the local Thais like cotton plantation workers, and has found that in this case he can't pay her off (as would have happened if she was from a less influential family) If he hasn't skipped the country already, I would suggest that he does so soon, because he is certainly not winning any friends here with his behaviour, and to not turn up at court with no reason/excuse shows the world what type of an arrogant moron he is.
  15. " I still believe Thailand is the Land of Smiles, and I love Hua Hin even more today." So to get somebody to love Hua Hin even more - pelt them with eggs! 🤣
  16. According to Wikipedia "Bimbo is slang for a conventionally attractive, sexualized naive woman. " Guess you should've gone to Specsavers - not "native man"!
  17. Maybe need a bit of tuition from the likes of Angelo Dundee? Oh, but they're not boxers are they?
  18. Including "the black dude"? How would you label him? - Nigerian?
  19. And how long would it take them to respond? At Songkran?
  20. Having watched the video - "Som nam na" springs to mind - but once again the majority of Thai waited until the guy was on the ground befoer they began to get stuck in. Having said that - the foreigner ceratinly aske for a bit of "come uppance"! (P.S. Can't be British or it would have said so 🙂 - Eastern Europeans maybe?)
  21. "Most of the young criminally minded or violent kids are bad ." Yes, I would agree with that one - I've never heard of a "young criminally minded or violent kid" that is "good"! 🙂
