  1. I had to pay maintenance for my daughter until she "ceased full time education", the legal age of which was 16 at the time. My daughter decided to stay on at school for her 'A' Levels, and then carry on to University, and I had to carry on paying maintenance until she got her Degree at the age of 21. Although I was quite willing to suport my child, when I queried why I should have to carry on paying beyond the age of 16, I was told by my solicitor that carrying on beyond the age of 16 and then going to University is classed as "Additional Education, but it's a "GREY AREA"!!! (Even she didn't understand the rules, so Magistrates have interpret the rules as they see fit - a bit like Immigration in Thailand!
  2. Agree 100% - probably all from Esan. My Thai wife is a lovely lady but has a few undesirable "quirks"! (The shower room/bathroom is like a launderette, and not a spare inch of space anywhere in the house - every surface is covered by "stuff", which is continually being moved, so you don't know where anything is! And why do Thai ladies wash the dishes and not dry them and "put them away"? They're just left in a heap on the draining board. I'm maybe being pedantic, but I believe that everything should have its place, so when you need something, at least you know where it SHOULD be! 🙂
  3. I rented my house out in the UK to a Polish guy and his girlfriend and brother. They didn't trash the place, but left it dirty, and were sub - letting (contrary to the contract), and when they vacated the property they left 27 black bags full of refuse (kitchen and otherwise) in the carport at the bottom of the garden. I partly blame the Council because in the UK, all garbage/rubbish has to be segregated (glass and tins in one container, cardboard in another, kitchen waste in another etc etc etc) all collected on different days, and woe betide you if you put one tin in with the cardboard! The container/wheelie bin (which has to be paid for by yourself) has a label with a big red cross stuck to it with "CONTAMINATED!!!" written on it - you'd think it was spent nuclear fuel!!! Plus the tenants probably didn't read much English and were unsure of which days each type of rubbish was collected as the instructions given out with your Council Tax bill are all in English. The bummer was that the Council refused to take the 27 bags of rubbish away, and I had to get them taken away by a Refuse Disposal Team at my expense!
  4. "SMF"? "WTF" does that mean? It has 81 meanings in "Acronym Finder"! From "So Much Fun' to "Shaking My Fist"!
  5. Or even manslaughter! I wonder how the taxi driver would feel if it was his father whose death he had cause by his contemptible thoughtless behaviour?
  6. Damn! I did see that and deleted it, but it obviously didn't delete, but thank you for bringing it to my attention! 🙂 (P.S. "Brought" should not have a capital "B", and there should be a comma after "today"!) 🤣
  7. "His"? "Him"? Where I was broought up this implies that they're talking about God (Or Jesus)!
  8. Accidents waiting to happen - look at those steps! And no wheelchair access? And signs saying "Men" and "Ladies" might help - at the moment they look like polling booths or changing rooms! However, a "step" in the right direction!
  9. Good idea, but only open until midnight, but what time do the bars close? What about all the late night "revellers"? - Where do they go when they are "caught short"? Maybe pee in the back of a songtau, or openly in the street causing on line disgust and "outrage"! 🙂
  10. I wonder if it had to pay for its uniform out of its wages? 🙂
  11. ".............he attempted to chase a dog with apparent harmful intent." Looks like he could do with a good feed - maybe he fancied a "hot dog" Korean style?
  12. She might have been just as drunk as he was if they'd both been out together matching each other drink for drink (Which is not unusual, by the way - especially some Aussies!) And where does it say they'd been arguing? Suicide? Assisted suicide? Pure conjecture.
  13. Surprised they aren't having a Committee Meeting to decide where they are going to hold the probe/investigation 😀
  14. "Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports has committed to tackling notorious dual pricing practices" Didn't they promise to do this a few years ago, or am I dreaming that it was just another off the cuff "positive" remark by TAT? 🤔
  15. "When I did haggle, if they said 200, I would say 100, and we would agree on 150." Quite right - many tourists think that it's all part of the game, but these people have to make a living and to spend any more than a couple of minutes haggling over 10 baht for something that is probably quite good value for money anyway is taking "bargaining" a bit too far.
  16. "This might be an issue in some cities such as Bangkok and Pattaya but it's still VERY CHEAP in Issan and the North East." And what are the prices like in the numerous restaurants and bars in Issan and the North East?
  17. "...........name not disclosed,............." I'm not surprised! Transgender/ladyboy might not fit his image back home in Hungary. I wonder how much it cost him to keep his name "out of the papers"?
  18. Your posts are gobbledegook - I can hardly understand them! But they were not on any other benefits, or means tested - they were happily retired here in Thailand, and I do beleive them, whereas I can not agee or disagree with you because I don't know what you are talking about!
  19. "another porkie pig, load of rubbish. There are no tribunals" Wrong! My married couple friends actually had to go back to the UK to expain why they should not repay the overpayments, and they said it was a "tribunal" - maybe Magistrates Court, but not's let be pedantic - they had to return to the UK for that sole purpose.
  20. Thank you Vinny - my apologies - I thought it was the final comment in his speech - whoever was broadcasting it must have cut it off immediately after he made it! Maybe couldn't quite believe that he said it! 🙂
  21. I could not find a tongue in cheek emoticon! Probably both! At the risk of being boring:- "All pensioners - ALL PENSIONERS will be better off under Labour!" (Starmer's final comment at the Summer 2024 Labour Party Conference - out and out liar! )
