Here's another good one: Viagra ice-cream.
OK, OK, so maybe it's just colored to match -- but that doesn't stop you from making your own, does it?

One more reason to consider detached condos: keeping out the creeps.

Looks disgusting, don't it? My neighborhood motorcy satay vendor has yet to offer these, but here's hoping!
Hey, I saw something on the Korean (or maybe Japanese) television station the other day: brittle sweet corn that you could eat raw straight off the stalk. Someone bred (or modified) a variety with super high brix but I can't find anything on the web -- does anyone have more information on this?A little more on this corn: apparently it's a super sweet corn that was developed in the States but was too hard to farm, so the Japanese took it and farmed it and called it "Mirai". In the last few years it's been re-introduced back the States to rave reviews (and reports of people driving 100's of kilometres to get some). It's so sweet it can literally be eaten raw. Is anyone growing this stuff in Thailand?

Is Junket a brand name or the generic name for this kind of dessert?

Hi,
I don't understand why Thai ice cream have corn and bean?
Why they eat corn/bean in ice cream whereas in European country, we eat that for salad?
...maybe because they're different ;-)
Some Thai or Thai-Chinese people probably don't understand why the corn and beans have ice cream. (I suspect they've been eating beans and corn for dessert a lot longer than they've been eating ice cream)

Machines that vaporize alcohol so you can inhale it instead of drinking it. Sounds neat! Does anyone know if they're legal and available in Thailand? (Sorry if this is covered elsewhere on this stie, but I can't find anything.)
Thanks!

The delegates received a detailed breakdown of how the money would be used and the largest single allocation of funds is 253.4 Million Baht which relates to the construction of community housing. Khun Niran, the Mayor of Pattaya presented the budget proposal to the meeting. There will now be a five day consultation process to “fine-tune” the budget for 2007. Following this it will be sent to the Governor of Chonburi Province to be rubber-stamped.
Wow, that seems like a lot of money. (Community housing? What's that? Like council estates?) Anyone know where one might find this detailed breakdown? Or last years breakdown, even? It's hard to pick through individual news items to find every 30 million here and there.

Where is this boat now? Has anyone ever seen it?

As for why they degrade asymmetrically then, it means Thailand on the whole consumes more internationally produced Internet content rather than exporting content that other countries wish to consume.
So what you're saying is that Thailand is a nation of leechers. I could agree with that.

Is DDT still available in Thailand? See also http://www.palmbeachpost.com/health/conten...o_products.html
This mesh bag + fan trap looks like something one might be able to whip up with items already around the house. Reportedly, it works well.

Amnat has a movie theatre! What more do you need?

Actually this is now normal in the USA. It does take 3 hours to process 500+ passengers through security.
Next time take the bus.

Is it possible that Erik Schuetz is the most successful farang involved in the Thai film industry?

You may have better luck setting up your charity in the US or the UK or wherever you or, probably more importantly, your donors are based.

Last week my wife got a call from one of her banks (SCB), and from what she repeated to me it sounded like they were offering her a credit card (I thought maybe a Visa or Mastercard). Well, she received it yesterday but it's something called "Speedy Cash". I'm not sure what it is but it doesn't seem like a credit card: for instance, there's no grace period on purchases so they start charging interest the day you buy something, and the interest rate is an ungodly 30% per year. I've told her she shouldn't use it and suggested she call her bank and ask to be taken off the sucker's list.
I don't read enough Thai to understand the document that came with the card, which is less than one page (compare that to the reams of small print that accompany credit cards in the U.S.). Does anyone have more information about this card and what the deal with it really is?
Thanks!

I'm applying for a spousal visa for my wife, but I will have to go to the US fairly soon. Is it better to start the application here or the the US? thanks
If you think you can get your I-130 petition accepted by the USCIS office in Bangkok then it will probably speed things up considerably.

It's cousin Pueraria mirifica is native to Thailand. I'm not sure if what I've seen growing is this or kudzu.

...Freaking Out...
...shut down on the foreigners...
I appreciate that you're in a bit of a panic, but how exactly do you mean these terms? (If these are technical banking terms, I do apologise for my ignorance.)
Yen, yen...Yen as in "Jai yen"? Or as in "Japanese yen"?

There is a new and exciting market worldwide for ostriches gaurs and the products from them. These ostrich gaur products include the likes of boots, handbags, jewelry, feather dusters, as well as red meat, and these products are beginning to gain global attention for their ultra-fine quality. Ostrich Gaur ranchers both in the US and South Africa are beginning to turn over high profits.

'Parents might want to dress their kids in military uniforms to be trendy, but they should keep in mind the mental impact this might have,' said former senator Pratheep Ungsonhtham Hata, who heads a child protection agency.
Oh, c'mon! One of the things that makes Thailand a land of opportunity is that anyone can grow up to lead a coup.

I wonder what percentage of Thai people even know where the Lord Buddha was born? (Or why that park is named as it is?)

AUA (American University) at Dolphin roundabout (Naklua/Pat circle) has 6 week intro and intermediate classes for 3400 bt. I recommend the intro class to get past bar talk level. Learning to tell time is the biggest convenience I must say!
On thing to note: I believe AUA requires that your visa covers the entire term of the course. So if you're still doing visa runs every 30 days they might not let you sign up for a 6 week course.

CCR's stand for "Covenants, conditions, and restrictions". These are the rules of the condominium.
HOA stands for "Homeowners association". This is the management comittee of the condominium.
