    There's one upstairs in Mike's Shopping Center, overlooking beach road.

    There's another one on the Soi opposite Tesco Lotus on North Pattaya Road, just east of City Hall.

    Mostly kids, though.

    There are probably others.

    It's not Seoul, but for some reason, Madrid Spain doesn't have any of these lockers. :o

    Is there some evidence that the Madrid bombers used storage lockers? I thought the bombs were actually on the trains.

    Storage lockers (koin rokka) are ubiquitous at Japanese train stations. Some can even opened by mobile phones and are used to exchange packages. http://web-japan.org/trends/business/bus060815.html Some clever Belgian artists even used some of these to set up an art exhibition. http://www.transcri.be/projects/offtherecord.html Of course, that's super-safe Japan, not super-dangerous Thailand.

    I think that lockers are probably not on the top of any planning list, especially given the bombing campaign in the South and the general increase in terrorism around the world. Lockers certainly have disappeared in many parts of the US and other countries.

    Yeah, and I heard they're gonna get rid of cars next year.

    I’m looking to do something similar and have been investigating adobe, stabilized earth and rammed earth (particularly the latter) and would be very interested to hear from anyone who has had experience of working with any of these in Thailand.

    Visa Exempt - Whats The Point?

    Is the embassy being over-cautious, or am i just missing something? I know a few people here get the 30 day stamp, but it seems that this is risky according to the embassy! Should I follow their advice and get the visa as well?

    Surely they're just covering their a**es -- even with a visa there's no guarantee of being admitted into the country (is there? the folks that issue the visas aren't even in the same Ministry as the folks working immigration).

    I'm currently looking for some good computer games, so I'm here to ask for your suggestions!

    There are so many different kinds of games and gamers that I really have to believe you'd have a much better chance of finding something you might like by spending a few hours reading a game review site, instead of soliciting recommendations in this forum. (Be careful, though, at least half the game review sites seem to have been thrown up by paid/compensated reviewers.)

    Unless you're looking for games specific to Thailand. Outside of some games that have been translated into Thai e.g. Ragnarok or The Sims, I don't think such a thing exists. Although I'd love to see someone develop Beer-Bar Tycoon or a bar-girl dating sim.

    Bendix is spot on. I could give you a long, drawn out economically based answer involving interest rates and currencies, but then at the end of the day be back to what Bendix has said. Go to the internet and track the yield curves of the USD and EUR and you will get a good idea of where short term THB interest rates are expected to go.

    Then could give you a short economically based answer involving interest rate yield curves? Also, why use US and Eurozone yield curves? Is the Thai yield curve at http://www.thaibma.or.th/yieldcurve/YieldTTM.aspx insufficient for this purpose? Thanks!

    Heading to Phantip, etc., again soon, and I'm wondering if I should replace an old 17" CRT with a digital monitor. I'm looking at 17 or better, though for an old Linux server...

    Why on earth would you care what's attached to an old server? Do you spend a lot of time in front of it? (If you do, you either need to learn how to admin it or start calling it a workstation.)

    An oft repeated suggestion when buying computers is to get the largest screen you can afford (that will fit on your desk).

    Well, I'd agree it's a bit ludicrous to publish a fare of 333 baht then tack on the taxes and fees that triples that price. Especially the inane fuel surcharge!

    However, I just spent a really irritating week trying to find cheap tickets back to the States. I didn't much care about what days I was flying, just the price and time spent in the air. I simply could not find any (real) system that allowed flexible date searching on international flights. The only explanation I could find was at http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/TravelQA/Bo...29/Default.aspx which suggests:

    "Q. Why are International fares no longer in Travelocity's flex search feature?

    A. Travelocity used to have the best flexible date search capabilities in the online travel industry. Then, mysteriously, United Airlines' fares disappeared from searches (repeated attempts to find out why United pulled its fare have failed). Now, international fares are gone.

    From what we can gather, the US Department of Transportation is to blame. They asked that Travelocity include those often hefty fuel surcharges in their international fare results; but Travelocity simply doesn't have the technology to do this, since these and other taxes and surcharges are calculated when exact dates are chosen by the consumer. Although well-intentioned, in our opinion this DOT requirement is a disaster for the consumer. Travelocity, which runs on the Sabre fare reservation system (global distribution system, or GDS, in airline speak) was the last booking engine that provided international fares in truly flexible date searches (that is, searches within a 330 day window, as opposed to a 3 day or 30 day window)."

    Bullsh!t or not? I don't know. But there must be some reason this feature doesn't exist. (BTW, the closest I could find was http://matrix.itasoftware.com but when I finally wound up on e.g. orbitz.com I'd consistently get a message like this:

    "We're sorry. Due to changes in airline availability, the fare for your selected trip is no longer available. We have adjusted the fares for all affected flights. The fare for your selected trip is now $ XXXX total. See below. (Message 1048)"

    So there you go.)
