I would like to know what is going on behind the scene in Thailand, what is their motive for detaining him?
What can be gained by locking him up, what are they waiting for?
I'm not buying into the mumbo jumbo spouted by Chatchom Akapin about waiting to see if there is a case for the extradition surely that would have been known from the get go. Also he could have been released prior to receiving the extradition request.
They made a mess of the case involving the young Saudi woman, and in spite of stating they would be more balanced in their approach in future.

It's actually standard procedure to not talk about an ongoing investigation in most of the world
"in most of the world."
Here is a little different, they fall over themselves to blab about cases, photos of the accused totally perverting the course of justice. Guilty until the right payments are made.
It's a different world, the meaning of justice quite different to the rest of the world.

So they started down the track of legal Marijuana for medical use.
Why? Because somewhere people and corporations are making a packet selling it.
Do they know anything else about it?
Passed the bill through Parliament at breakneck speed, now what?
Lean on the government to gain the rights to a monopoly.

In nsw Australia the fine for not wearing a helmet is$337 and if your passenger is not wearing one the rider gets fined double,so everyone wears one, here the fines should be tripled but the biggest problem is the cops that just sit and watch.
I would like to think most Aussie motorcyclists wear a helmet to protect themselves, not to just avoid a fine.
However it is startling how many western people abandon their safety culture when riding in Thailand.

And just exactly where do you think electricity comes from? Grown in organic fields? The majority of electricity is created by fossil fuels. Oil, and natural gas. A lesser amount by nuclear and a minuscule amount by wind, solar, and hydro electric. And you think that battery production is clean. Lithium used in electric cars is a rare element and there is much pollution to its mining, more for its disposal and recycling. Andy finally one minor point. Average income in BKK is about $25,000 baht per month. A Nissan Leaf starts at $2 million baht. Are you loaning these people the money?
Your points may have some truth but are not entirely relevant to the pollution in Bangkok, the bulk amount coming from vehicle exhaust, as in most large cities.
Solutions applied in other cities was to limit vehicle traffic and increase the amount of more modern less polluting vehicles.
As for affordability, those who have cars today will have cars tomorrow regardless of the type of engine.
The point you make on electric car manufacture is a reflection on our rampant consumerism, if we are to mass produce it will come at a cost to the environment.

Australia PM urges Thailand not to extradite Bahraini player
in Thailand News - Discussion
Marisa Payne is the Foreign Minister who recently visited Thailand, Payne up until a few months ago was the Defense Minister.
It was only Payne who visited Thailand recently. I think it unlikely the Defense Minister would get involved in this issue.
