Lightweight, polite twaddle means as much as the proudly promoted MoU's gathered at meetings of this nature.

Because it affects Americans ?
What about the first Russian in space or the Chinese/Vietnam war or the Tutsi massacres in Africa or the mass killing of American Indians ?
Why should the world know more about the USA/Vietnam conflict , moreso than the Saudi/Yeman conflict or any other conflict in the world( that doesnt involve the USA)?
I made a brief comment about a few notable historic events, no need to get carried away over the many that I did not mention. Should we go back to discussing the atrocities of the Roman Empire. Also Saudi Yemeni war is not an historic event it is current.

How much do you know about Asian history?
Very little, but so what. The events mentioned are some of the most significant and world changing events. WW2, Vietnam and the Moon landing are history all of earth's inhabitants should know about.

So long as it is all in front of the cameras I suspect it is just a token display to keep the press and a few easily convinced folk that something is being done.
I am not convinced that this is the end of corruption in this area.
We all know who his boss is!

Will they be given the same treatment as the two Russian tourists who were imprisoned for taking some coral?
No, I believe the punishment is all the sticky rice and mango you can eat.

Exactly, children's necks are not strong enough to "wear" a helmet, meaning that if there is an accident there would be a severe risk of breaking their necks!
Broken neck or cracked skull, take your choice.
A helmet will give them a chance.

Religion has lost the plot, me thinks. If in fact it ever had it.

there is still a prevalent culture of seniority and hierarchy in the Faculty of Education.
Would somebody kindly explain to these privileged youngsters that seniority and heirachy are natural bi-products of a free-market capitalist society.
And while they are about it, that equality of opportunity is no guarantee, in a healthily competitive society, of equality of outcome.
Higher education in the West has become the preserve of the "progressive" left, busy filling children's heads with neo-Marxist nonsense. With my daughter in her first year at uni, please don't tell me the same thing is happening here.
Here it is fascist nonsense.

If wealthy Thai's were careless enough to leave their valuables laying around would they want all the publicity.
Would they try and sue the cabby for temporary theft or some other ludicrous charge.

The default answer to many issues here is "cannot" easier to say that than think of a solution.

Really, I hope you don't work as a stockbroker or financial analyst. Take a look at all the BMW's and Benz's around the streets, even upcountry.
The luxury enjoyed by the few is not a reliable indicator of the health of the economy. It's just business as usual for the well off and connected, while the rest scramble for the scraps.
