  1. Please, do not compare yourself to the grease spoons known as Green Man and Jazztaurant (both expensive and greasy). Cajun is in a style all of its own. Real LA food would be very welcomed by the expats here. Cajun food is renowned worldwide, but very few good places exist outside of LA, much less outside of USA.

  2. The Thai apologists in this or other forums will forever deny that this country is sinking into a world of xenophobia, greed and corruption. So let's stop trying to convince them of otherwise.

I do know of 3 honest, hardworking farangs, with families, leaving Thailand. Within a 3 block radius of my village. Those are the only statistics I can offer you.

The stares, snares, double pricing, corruption, visa rules that are not followed from govt. office to govt. office, insencere smiles... etc etc. It gets old.

I came here to escape the rat race. But being treated like a rat, that is a different matter altogether.

  3. It is critical that you take the TEFL in Thailand, as they teach the nuances that is Thai students. Very different from the West. SEE is good. But if you had to wait, like, why not? Keep working in the UK, save up some dosh and then come. Bring about 3 or 4 thousand pounds, return ticket, etc. Prepare for emergencies.

Bring some nice ESL books. The books here can be quite expensive and are not very good or have that horrible Singapore or Philippino Engrish writing in them.

  4. Thank you. I finally know my last name: IDIOT. :o

I feel embarrassed to be a die hard apple user. First of all most of the posters in this thread are idiots. Most of the software and issues your whining about are upgradeable for free online. Next is in terms of service and support if you have Apple Care then your covered but you have to pay for shipping yourself unless you have a decent retailer who will ship if for you. Apple Chiang Mai for example will cover shipping to Singapore which is a service facility for you.

My advice is to better research and most the complaints are non issues.

  5. Anyone can please translate this medical term?

    มือเท้าปากเปื่อย

    or

    โรคมือเท้าปากเปื่อย

It is not measles, pox, mumps.. He has spots inside his mouth, could be contagious. Has fever at night. Has spots on his feet and parts of his arm. Kids across the street whom he has never played with ALL have it and it lasts 5 to 10 days.

    Thanks a million.

  6. Not defending this tex mex oasis, but rats are everywhere. Cannot really get rid of them unless you have 10 cats, collared and leashed at every nook and cranny in the kitchen area.

Their food is always fresh and hot meals are hot. Cannot comment on your bad gut. I had the runs and gut pain from drinking fresh sugar cane juice at the local weekend market. First time in 6 years that has ever happened to me. And I saw my glass being made from the cane itself. Anyway, glad you are ok now.

Back to food. The chili con carne from Coyote is overly spiced and no flavor. If you or any reader has a taco attack, they can buy the shells at Tops and many taco sauces. Takes care of most mex cravings I have.

  7. Sour grapes for giving an opinion? Give me a break. Read the whole thread, not just part of what you want to see. Price of the ingredients? 20 Baht. Price for the coffee size cup of green curry, 320 Baht. Your choice.

Like I said, not flaming anyone. To each his own.

You are welcome to it. Again, different strokes for different folks. I want authentic Thai food, not overpriced, watered down swill.

You will LOVE BRP. Look it up. They advertise everywhere. A nice lovely bowl of green curry, 320 baht! lol. Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed the place. That is important, of course. Not flaming you.

Sounds like sour grapes from someone who wont spend money.. Your paying for the location ambience and all round experience not tallying the price of the ingredients.

Eating with the waves rolling underneath you, a sea breeze coming in off the ocean, some fella tinkling a piano, good wine selection. etc etc

  8. Los Amigos in Nai Harn is the best tex mex in the island. Fresh food and the staff are very friendly and mostly related to each other. The owner is an American. Wife sells insurance also. Nice place.

Twin Palms is great for their Sunday buffet. About 1400 Baht, I believe. Free haagen daz ice cream, as well. Overpriced but quality food, for the most part.

For falang food, you have to pay to get quality. For Thai food, that should never happen.

  10. Well known for treating their staff like shiete. Overpriced, just like Baan Rim Pa, or however they spell it these days. It is not Thai owned. It is Hong Kong owned, by the way. I interviewed a few of their staff when they applied at a resort I used to work for and they hated it there.
