The Hi vis reflective ( grey bits ) on my Scoyco jacket have lasted well, I got the JK28 in red to match my bike
have only washed it twice ( left out in the sun to air after use ) I don't ride 40Kms per day much less than that
its a cheap jacket made in China giving some skin protection at lower speeds
bought the show room display jacket ( the only one they had in my size ) on 28/6/14
for 2700 baht 200 baht discount

I've had ants in my computer monitor/TV, External Hard drives, fluorescent lights, light switches , main breaker/fuse box and extension leads.
When they get caught between contact breakers in switches etc and are fried they make a very effective insulation material rendering the switch almost useless, until you can take it apart and clean the contacts.
In TV'S and hard drives the results are much worse. -

@Gibbs2 what brand of battery do you use that lasts 6 years in Thailand ?

I converted my ZTE blade ( Orange Sanfransico ) to Cyanogenmod years ago so long I forgot how I did it
but must have used the sideload from SD card method as I only recently got ADB working
( I believe mine was a Gen 1 phone so could get custom recovery and root without ADB )
once you have ClockworkMod ( or TWRP) Recovery installed make a full backup and keep that backup in a safe place ( not the sd card )
then you should be able to recover from most mistakes.

His wife's blue book ( or Tabien bahn ) not to be confused with the blue book used for car registration.

So her ID copy and Blue book copy that's about it right?
( blue book might not be necessary but take copy anyway )
yes get her to sign them and state in Thai of course
"only for purpose of registering honda click reg number xxxxxxx"
over a conspicuous part of the copy
being careful not to actually obscure anything..this is to try and prevent fraudsters stealing identity, "purpose of" can be omitted if not worried
but copies need her signature.
The shop will let you know if they need to see the bike or not but I suspect they will need to see it because they normally take "rubbing's" of the chassis and engine number and need to confirm these agree with the green book.

further note updated
The drive was really slow and flaky, would not mount in windows took a long time to mount on Debian
S.M.A.R.T said it was ok but Crystaldiskinfo reported that it had 156 uncorrectable sectors...tried to write zeros to the whole disk to reset sector count but PC spontaneously rebooted after about an hour
it is a deceased drive..not resting, pining for the fjords or simply stunned..its dead R.I.P

Left towards Big C for both places
Pattaya plates already will make it easier and faster sometimes the shop will wait until they get a few to do before going to the DLT
they may also have to take the bike to DLT to check engine and chassis numbers... but they may have "special contacts" that mean they can bypass certain things I'm sure they'll let you know what's necessary.

The media reports about it certainly seem to have stopped.

Your friend just needs to goto Jomtien immigration and ask for a "certificate of residence" for the purpose of selling a motorbike
they will except a receipt showing he/she is staying in a condo or hotel no need to actually be on permanent residency.
If the bike has Bangkok plates it will make it a bit more complicated and take longer but the shop will be able to do it for you
Tax 3 weeks overdue no problem about a 2 baht fine
shop on South Pattaya road is new... somewhere around the area ( from memory ) shown on this google streetview
shop on Sukumvit

That nut is probably so rusted that you'll have to grind it off..just cut one facet off then unscrew...new nut ha ha no hap ! no problem get some epoxy resin and use the old parts to make a hybrid nut in situ only problem probably you can never remove the nut again.
Ps I think the thread is left handed ie right to lose opposite to normal.
-
If you want a shop to do it for you then look for a place displaying this logo
There is one on South Pattaya road at the Sukumvit end and another one on Sukumvit between South and Center road.
Cost probably a couple of thousand baht if all back tax has been paid and no other complications.
( like if the bike is currently registered in another province )
If your mate lives in Pattaya he/she will have to get a certificate of residence from immigration in Jomtien 300 + baht
and to be pedantic you don't transfer vehicles at the "land office" that's for land and property
you transfer vehicles at the DLT .....Department of Land Transportation
http://maps.google.com/?cid=12582398290207580349
or the main one if you need to change provinces

The Thai smile has many meanings including "keep that up mate and you're gonna get a kicking"

If your GF has 400,000 and doesn't want to spend it all on a used car then buy one 100% cash for 200,000
The prices on used cars have come down a bit 20 to 30% since the "first car scheme"
why pay the dealer interest when you can keep the money in the bank and earn the interest herself.

Doesn't matter, even if you're Bruce Lee when they attack in packs, more will join in until foreigner is down and out.

I would say in terms of crime, pollution, water management, traffic, green spaces, type of people and beach front development (if by that you mean the promenade and sand on beach ) quality has decreased
in terms of medical care, food choices, shopping choices ,electricity, internet and immigration moving to Jomtien quality has increased. ...so improvements in some areas but degradation in others.

Well it seems Pib is correct the Western Digital My Passport has the USB interface built into the HD controller board....yuck I'll have to remember not to buy one of those ! !
And as a further note one the 3 2 TB Western Digital MyBook drives I own failed the other day....
so I took it apart and was relived to see the hard drive had a normal SATA connection so hooked it up to my PC directly only to find that the partition was unallocated and no way to initialise it.
After a day of googling and lots of head scratching it turns out that the USB to SATA interface board inside the enclosure is doing transparent encryption of all user data on the storage medium, at all times !!
...so if the USB --> SATA board goes wrong you cant just plug HDD into any SATA port and retrieve your data
although I do believe some clever buggers can retrieve the encryption keys and unlock the data
http://eprint.iacr.org/2015/1002.pdf
I wish they had made it plainly clear on the box that the drive was always encrypted..yes transparently without the user entering a password or ever using the supplied encrypting software !!!!!!!!
Luckily for me I had most of the data backed up so just deleted the partition and started again with the hard drive in another ( non encrypting ) USB enclosure
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1828742/book-3tb-external-internal.html
QuotePlease be aware that whether you set a password or not, it always encrypts the data.
This means that if the USB to SATA interface becomes defective in any way, you can't just rip the drive out of the case and put it in a docker or into your computer and hook it up directly and be able to read your data.
So far Western Digital's stand point on this is that they don't care. If it's under warranty, they won't replace the board, they will only replace the whole unit - guaranteeing that you don't get your data back.
They won't sell you the board so that you can get your data back.
They have no software decrypter that will allow you to get your data back.
If you send your drive to any data recovery house other than the ones that pay them to be authorized, you void your warranty.
If you send your drive to an authorized data recovery house, be prepared to pay $600-$1400 -

Why not just go to the economic crime suppression division and ask them
Its happened before the culprits turn out to be either ex members of the organisation they claim to be from or just totally fake ( not ) members of the organisation they claim to be from. Its almost impossible to stop 5 or more bully boys from getting what they want when they turn up unexpectedly.
