If you go live in any other country you will lose a few hundred each fortnight but you choose if in Aussie bank or 4 weekly payment to your nominated overseas bank account

For me there was no option, payments to my Aussie bank were fortnightly and after 26 weeks abroad changed to monthly.

First monthly payment was for 20 days only as they changed my payment date, following payment picked up the underpayment.

  2. Suggest your wife go alone to family home for a month or so,maybe a couple of times a year.

You will keep all your benefits from Centrelink and Medicare.

If you need assistance while your wife is away,Centrelink can provide " home help" you could also opt for meals on wheels if needed.

    I was taking 10mg Amlodipine BP 110 / 60.

Too much edema in ankles reduced to 5mg before breakfast daily. No more edema,

    BP @14:45 134/66, I believe the new norm for 80yo is 140/60-70

4 hours later following a spicy dinner  and a 490ml can of Singha BP down to 110/66

  4. My barber in Amphawa charged 40 baht a cut, if you tried to pay with a 100 note there was drama as he only accepted 40 baht and he would not give change of 100. So he would suggest settle up next visit.

Why would I need other ways of lowering my BP if, as you say, 176 should be OK at my age?

I do know that there are 'natural medications' to lower my BP, but here in Thailand, the meds are very cheap and easy to obtain, and they seem to work.

Cheap is right,my Australian meds bought in Bangkok 2000baht every month ,Amlodipine 300 baht for 200 doses.

I have an AIS Net Marathon 15Mbps 100GB/month 12 month package which is about to expire in a few days. I went to the AIS store asking how can I renew it and the staff did a Google Translate via the app while talking into her phone. She said that it automatically renews and I asked how can it as I need to pay for it to renew then she said staff doesn't know how much it costs to renew but it renews automatically. Then she talked with two other staff members. One of them said it's 1,800 baht and I need to top up via the app. I showed her my app and under "My Package" it has the green button "Buy on-top package" and she said yes, to add money via the app using this. I said thanks, I will do this but after further inspection clicking on the green button "Buy on-top package" there's no options to add money only to buy some other extra packages.

How does one renew this Net Marathon package?

AIS store really has no idea. Does anyone here have an idea how to renew this package for another year?

See below screenshots of my app:

If your phone has dual sim cards, MyAIS app will only display details of your "call" sim.

To top-up your data sim add money to your data sim number via your bank app.

  8. Can't be too careful,in the last 8 years I have had 5 Squamous cell carcinomas on my brow ,neck and ear, resulting in 3 skin grafts,my skull thickness reduced by 1.5mm,removal of lymph nodes and my ear reduced by half.

Followed by 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments.

Skin grafts done in Australia, lymph nodes and ear done in Thai government hospital @100,000thb

Try to read my post again.

So where do i pay tax on my pension

You can pay to me if you like, seriously you do not have to pay tax to Thai revenue dept if you do not bring funds to Thailand.

If your home country  assesses your pension as taxable, and you are already paying tax to them, then do nothing.

If your pension is below assessable threshold in your home country then do nothing.

Since I am not aware of your circumstances the above is for general info only

I asked the same question to my pension fund, and got an answer that doesn't make me any wiser.

They told me, tax is usually paid in the country you are a resident.

So I am resident in Thailand, but my pension get paid in a bank account in my home country, and will not be remitted to Thailand for the foreseeable future, in fact I doubt I have a need to transfer money for the next 20 years.

So where do I pay taxes?

Funds from your pension may be liable for assessment for Thai tax purposes when you bring such  funds ,exceeding thresholds , to Thailand

Sorry, but I said he may have to maintain the balance from the previous extension, which from the original post would seem to have been from money in bank.

Going forward, no need to maintain any balance, just the monthly transfers.

He will need to comply with current extension deposit requirements untill he gets a new extension stamp.
