  1. As a 76-year-old senior with illnesses that impede your traveling comfortably, what exactly would the Yellow Book's benefit be? How long do you plan to live that having one would impact your life in a way significantly enough to even bother? Either way, it has been documented to not go to the Tesseban but to the Amphoe instead.
  2. Might be semantics but my wild guess is that a condo/house owner who adamantly refuses to file a TM30 for the leaseholder does so for nefarious purposes and will definitely not Hand over a copy of the Tabien Baan. As DrJack rightfully says, refusal to lodge a TM30 is one of the warning signs to NOT sign a lease with this owner same as offering contracts only in Thai, being billed fake rates for electricity rather than paying directly to MEA etc.
  3. Thailand is always a magnet for all sorts of shady people, especially those who were dropped a few times too often as children. That will probably never change, but I leave that to the authorities as it's none of my business and a waste of time to worry about these things.
  4. For the latter part, I can 100% say that isn't the case, as I had both ED Visas (University) and Volunteer visas/extensions (Foundation) before and never once manually canceled any of them. You might be right about the work permit, though.
  5. Sent it by Mail to Chaengwattana, Laksi. I didn't call, they called me. 1st one was done in person, 2nd one was done online without problems, 3rd one got a rejection email, so I mailed it in. Then they called, never gave me a reason why it was rejected online. I'm surprised the lady still sent it back approved. Only did 3 reports during the Covid time, usually I never stay longer than 4-6 weeks.
  6. Happy ending all around. Last time (2021) I sent mine by mail, I was actually called, and they said I have to come in person. Said I had an accident and can't walk for at least two weeks. It was returned and approved 2 days later.
  7. Add it to the ever-continuing discussion of the Tourism Arrivals Levy. 😄
  8. Thailand doesn't have an active ETA program at this time. The measure that's currently being discussed won't start before 2025 (or ever).
  9. Serious criminals who are on some kind of Interpol watchlist won't be able to travel to Thailand anymore, at least not by air. . In the last few years, new systems were developed, including but not limited to APIS, SLTD & I-Checkit. Paired with biometrics and live checks of the Interpol database upon entry. Yes, there will always be ways, but the major holes have been plugged. The schools simply don't want problem customers, especially if they have to issue a guarantee letter that is being used to vouch for the student at immigration. They also want to gauge if you actually intend to pay the bill and attend the class. FWIW, if anyone doesn't want to use the class, I can gladly attend for you, eat, and learn more cooking.😆
  10. I think for many if not most it's the problem that you would have to surrender your current citizenship as dual citizenship is not permitted in a vast amount of countries unless obtained by birth. There are practical benefits, but they are limited depending on your financial situation. As is, people who have very little money it's rather useless because buying property is probably not in the cards. If you have a lot of money then you get most of what you want anyway unless you insist on having property in your name. Some people I know did it for fun as a pet project.
  11. Wouldn't a visa be automatically canceled when leaving the country without a re-entry permit?
  12. It really is a pain. I'm not even sure how to handle my current problem because for the past 12 years, I've never stayed more than two months/ ~ 60 days in Thailand in one go, and even that is a stretch. The only time(s) I reported my address was during Covid; same condo address but a different passport. I still have copies of those approved reports. Since then, I have never stayed longer than eight weeks, so I never reported again (you can't even go and report voluntarily unless you stay at least 75 days to get into the 15-day advance window). I now need a residence certificate under the new passport, and unfortunately, I live in BKK, where one previous report is mandatory before they issue you one. Wonder if they'd accept that together with a current TM30 and the new passport number or if I'm SOL.
