I'm forced to raise a cynical eyebrow when I see a CD rate offered by a bank to be so much higher than the BOT's.

What frightens you most here in ThailandMinivan drivers and bus drivers.
And I'm not joking. I was driving home today, and witnessed once again the reckless manner in which these knuckleheads put everyone's lives in danger-their passengers, other people on the road and themselves.

Couldn't you just park a scooter in the middle of the spot so that there wouldn't be enough space for a bus?

As with all things (particularly those involving the former PM), there's more than meets they eye here.
I have not idea what it will be, but another shoe will drop in the next few days.

Could anyone recommend a somewhat quiet restaurant or bar very near or on walking street that I could take my wife to for some people watching?

I wonder how many more guys they get to stand close to the edge.

Has anyone been to Vegetarian Paradise on 2nd Road? It's a small place behind Central Festival and the Hilton.

First of all when you enter the diner you are smacked in the face with club music
Not the case on my two visits. It was all Motown, Elvis and Blues.

This is not Thailand specific.
The same thing would have happened practically anywhere else in the world.
Don't believe me?
Get on a plane, fly to the country of your choice, show up at a bar in the wee hours of the morning, stand outside and shout "suck my dick" several times at the people inside.
(I'd like to advise you wear a helmet).

It’s a regret that some people wanted to organise their movement on the street without accepting the rules of democracy
She really is shameless (assuming that she understands what she's reading).

How can people not see that this is (an attempt) at satire?

Back in the day, these were called "telephone book cysts", because the method of treatment was hitting it with a telephone book.

For the average retail customer, SCB and BKK bank are essentially the same.
Your experience will depend on the staff at the branches you choose. Find a couple of branches convenient to your location and exchange some money or inquire about opening an account. The service you receive doing these two things should give you an indication of which branch to choose.

How to instigate a military coup in one easy step:
Step One: Attempt to pass anti-coup legislation.

I ate at ACD twice over the last four days. My wife and I both enjoyed the food and found it to be reasonably priced for BKK.
The waitstaff screwed up the order on the first visit on Saturday, and those working on Monday night were obviously overwhelmed with the job. I don't know if they were new hires or maybe they were understaffed, but the proprietor should look into this, because it negatively affects the overall dining experience.
We'll probably be back though because the food was good.

Thanks.
3.2% is the best rate I've seen recently.

SCB is offering 3.2% on deposits over one billion (with a "b") Baht.
Or am I reading this wrong?
The interest rate for Siam Commercial Bank below is for a fixed 12 month / 1 year Interest rate for 1000 million Baht and Overhttp://thailand.deposits.org/accounts/scb-1-year-fixed-deposit.html

That's really disappointing to learn of the change in quality. I was planning on stopping in for breakfast this weekend.
I'll probably still give it a go, but now I'm wondering if it will be worth the effort.

"For example, 15-20-0 formula fertiliser..."
I don't mean to nitpick at the details of Yingluck's brilliant scheme, but it is well know that the fertiliser value of bullshit is more like 10-7-10.
In this case 24-7-365 would be more accurate.
Scheduled Maintenance---Time or Distance Traveled?
in Thailand Motor Discussion

I bought a Honda Jazz 15 months ago, and it has 8,100 Kilometers on it.
I did an oil and filter change at 5,000 kilometers about 5 months ago at a local shop.
I'm going into to town for a medical check up next week and thought it would be a good time to do the Honda's scheduled 10,000 kilometer service because the Honda dealership is near the hospital. However, when I called to make an appointment, the Honda rep said they wanted to do the 30,000 kilometer/18 month service.
Below is their scheduled maintenance chart:
http://honda.co.th/owner/periodical/result
(2012/Automatic)
30 K maintenance seems crazy to me as the car only has 8 K on it, but I fully acknowledge that I don't have nearly the automotive experience that others on TV have.
Any knowledgeable feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.
