  1. By "bank draft" I presume the OP means cashier's cheque. I very much doubt that they charge 0.1% for this. Krung Sri, Krung Thai and Bangkok Bank both charge a small, fixed fee irrespective of amount. 20 Baht if I recall correctly. I doubt Kasikorn is different.

This is by far the most convenient way available for transferring very large sums of money around.

    Wrong.

Bank draft and cashier cheques are different.

Bank draft: the one who emit the draft from his account pays the 0.1% fee even in the same province.

Cashier cheque: the one who received the cheque pays the 0.1% fee when in another province (not sure for same province)

Cashier cheque also costs 20 thb when you get it, as you said.

  2. ok thanx all for your'e answers . there is no need to get in to stupid arguments about wether street food is safe or not ..... some people can handle street food while some simply can't . let's just leave it at that .

    Wrong.

This is a fact, street food is not safe and even dirty, no need to argue about this, this is not an opinion.

The only opinion that people can have is that some don't care and eat it, some care and do not eat it.

But street food if of course not safe and anybody who doesn't understand this is plain stupid.

I also eat it from time to time, expecially boiled noodles as they are the safest, but still I don't think it's 100% safe.

  3. At Mukdahan I also find them very unfriendly, I always feel like to disturb their quiet life when going there...

Nong Khai has always been the best.

I like the more quiet Mukdahan border, never felt unwelcome there, but feel the stress of the officers in Nong Khai,

had serious troubles there with a Passport which had been washed by accident ( warm water)

and had lost some Visa stickers. (Lao, Cambodia, Thailand)

Big lady boss had to come from the Immigration center Nong Khai to the border, an affair!

That my Thai GF was with me and that I have children in TH helped to get me in.

With that sorry looking Passport in same state, I went out / in at Suvarnabhumi Airport,

    also in Savannaketh

and got extensions of stay twice in Udon Thani beforehand. whistling.gif

BUT, this is NONG KHAI! I was told, not so easy!

As you can read, finally I am not the only one to think that they are more civilied at Nong Khai <3

  4. A bankers draft in Thailand is called a "cashier's cheque" and the bank's charge for it is 20. baht.

    Wrong.

Cashier cheques and draft are different.

Cashier cheque fee is 20 baht but there is a fee to put it in someone account (1000 baht for 1 million)

Bank draft costs 1000 baht for 1 milion for emission but then the receiver can put it in his account or free.

    You are entirely wrong ...

A bankers draft is a cheque issued by the banks, and a cashire cheque is a cheque issued by the Thai banks.

I have taken many cashire's cheque's from the Thai banks were I hold my accounts

I have purchased many cars in Thailand, the car prices were between 1,350,000 - and 1.900.000 - I purchased a land property for a second home, the price was 3,500.000 -.

I pay each time the total cash sum of the purchased items, it gets out of my bank account into the cashire cheque to make the payment and I have done this many, many times and each time the fee for the cashire's cheque was 20 baht.

What is wrong ? you do not know what is a draft and only use cashier cheque for which the fee is 20 baht.

Thai banks issue cashier cheque for 20 baht and draft for 0.1 %, I checked most banks and the fee is the same, so what is wrong ?

But it seems that you do not even know that the one who receive the cheque will have to pay 0.1% at least if he is in another province.

Please come back again when you will know what is a bank draft in Thailand <3

  5. just an update on any farangs who are thinking of using their old passport instead of their new one, Once the good old HMPO decide to send your new one back to you and in my case its been 9 weeks now and not a sniff off my new one,the old one becomes invalid and you can be in big trouble for showing the police a cancelled passport even if it has many years to run,Mine is valid till November 2020  but once i get my new passport back i will be showing them my old one. its safer and not as expensive if you happen to lose it ( i use that term loosely)  This police colonel is an absolute Barcleys and is talking out of his rear appendage

You think that the mib know what is a camceled passport ? They also speak english right ? So sad for you, you will learn the truth soon !

Anyway who cares the law in this country when everything is so cheap...

  6. Hello,

It seems that Kbank online transfer to another Kbank account is 500000 thb ? (daily limit)

Do you know how to raise the limit and what is the maximum that we can transfer online each time/day ?

As the fee to get a bank draft is 0.1 % it can be quite expensive if you transfer several millions and it would be cheaper to do it online.

A cashier check is only 20 baht but the receiver will also have to pay the fee 0.1 %, which is not possible.

    Cheers.

  7. The wife ended up buying a bank draft made out to herself for 310 Baht from SCB. She was told that SCB in Loei will give her cash for free for that bank draft the same day. Her bother will drive her to the land office in Chiang Khan so she will be safe. You are right about paying in cash because once she pays the land owner, she will have the Chanote changed to her name at the same time.

Sent from my SGH-M919 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

I was told that the fee is 1000 baht for 1 million bank draft, why did she pay 310 ?

  8. Yes, you can have a bank draft issued at any KBank branch without any problems and it can be cashed anywhere in the country and at any bank.

The fee for a bank draft in local currency is 20 THB.

You need to bring your passport.

    Actually above is wrong information.

A Cashiers check has a fee of 20 baht ( for any amount). Yes it can be cleared at any Bank in the country, but if it's out of the issuing banks region, then there is a charge imposed when cashing or clearing into an account. So a Cashiers check is better within the same region.

A Bank Draft has fees when you purchase (ie: 1000 baht per million baht purchased), but it can be cleared without charge/fees at any bank in the country.

REMEMBER both type of checks are liable to take at least 4 days to clear out of the issuing banks region, but immediately/same day within region.

    Hope that helps you.

    Hello,

I think what you are saying is right but Misterwhisper got it wrong.

So if we do not want to pay more than 20 baht fee we have to issue a cashier cheque in the same province.

I wonder why some people use draft, even in the same province when cashier cheques are almost free ? Is a draft more secure?

    Thanks.

I actually requested issuance of a bank draft at my local bank in Bangkok just a few days ago, and the fee was 20 Baht. It even said - in Thai script, of course - "draft" on both the cheque proper and the receipt. The instrument has in the meantime been cashed upcountry at a different bank than that where I originally purchased it here in the capital, and there were no clearing charges whatsoever incurred by the recipient of the funds.

    Hello,

Which bank gave you a draft for 20 thb ?

The fee is 1000 baht for 1 million at Kasikorn (cashier or draft) and the only difference between draft and cashier is who pay the fee:

draft: the one who issue it pay the fee

cashier cheque: the one who receive it pay the fee

    Cheers.

  10. Hello, any update ?

I am also looking for something different and not Samsung.

I tried imobile and it was good but the monkeys do not sell the spare battery of the IQX and need to send the mobile to service center to change the battery, so I won't buy imobile anymore as the battery lasts only 6 months.
