  1. I avoid chicken in Thailand. Elsewhere too for that matter, unless I know it is free range. There are far too many hormones and general nastiness involved in intensive chicken farming for my taste.

So far off topic, why the hell did you post it.

In reply to this: "However, when buying "fresh" chicken I'm never sure whether to go for the fly blown pieces on the top of the pile, or the pieces on the bottom that are floating in the salmonella soup."

As far as I know chicken is often found in street food, and as such presumably it is on topic.

Even my coworkers tell me to stay away from chicken here in Thailand as most of the chicken comes from 2-3 big companies that feed way to much antibiotics and other things that are not to healthy to them.

I work in a agricultural college so my colleagues should know what they are talking about!

Ridiculous to make it a local thing: any animal anywhere in the world is fed with antibiotics and fishes with pesticide.

People who do not know are people who do nto want to know and deserve the shiiite that will happen to them !

  2. Yesterday I went to the Dentist in Ari..... Got my teeth Blue lasered, which basically whitens them to the original colour, or as near as.

Big big difference , a lot whiter.

Anyway, it cost 2,800 baht.... Which is mega cheap, compared to the UK or the USA....

Then your teeth might be sensitive forever, the dentist didn't tell you about the risks ?

  3. Thank you for reply but I then wonder what peole do with their money if they always try to get the best for their money, do you have millionaire houses or you also built the cheapest house posible ? Driving a nice car is also part of enjoying life it seems, no ?

It is not (or al least not only) trying to get the "best for their money", it is rather trying not to pay something (a lot!) for nothing. The tax on a luxury, imported car can be as much as 2/3 of the selling price -- so what you are paying for the actual car is about 1/3 of the selling price, and the rest goes into the Thai government's coffers for them to spend (waste) on rice schemes and other worthwhile social programs (aka electing a Shinawatra). Driving a nice car is a part of enjoying life, but only a part. If you have eclectic tastes, and also enjoy a nice house, nice furniture, art, a boat, an investment condo, fine dining, exotic vacations, etc., your money is much better spent on enjoying those aspects of life, where the price is reasonable and the tax is low in Thailand, so you are actually paying for what you get.

Is a Camry or an Accord a "nice car"? Are a Camry or Accord "worth" the equivalent of $43,000 to $50,000? Most would say they are pretty pedestrian cars, masquerading as luxury vehicles because of high prices, and they are pretty much the upper end for affluent Thais and well-to-do westerners living in Thailand, not in many cases because they couldn't afford more, but because as you go into higher price ranges for cars the percentage of tax increases dramatically and the price/value ratio becomes more seriously skewed. Would you rather buy a very well equipped Vigo or, for the same money, buy a stripped down "taxi ready" Altis? Would you rather drive an Accord or drive a Triton, and have a significant portion of your child's international school tuition in hand (that perhaps you could not afford otherwise)? These are all choices that people living in Thailand make routinely, and people that drive trucks here are making these decisions intelligently -- and still driving a "nice" vehicle (perhaps not in your myopic view) and very much enjoying life. And many people that own trucks actually like driving a truck and prefer it to a car, and would buy a truck even if there wasn't such a significant price/value difference in Thailand. So, don't wonder what people that drive trucks (or comparably priced cars) do with their money. It is none of your business, nor is how you spend your money (drive a Merc or a BMW?) anyone else's business. But rest assured that, while it may not meet your approval, they are spending their money on things that will give them the greatest enjoyment as they see it, and they won't worry very much (at all) if you approve or disapprove of their choices.

Sorry for a long answer to a really dumb question (are you my ex-wife?). You're batting 500, and in a serious hitting slump.

Ok, so people who drive German cars are just dumb to buy merc and bmw or maybe they have better taste and these guys didn't have to buy a house for their wives that will never belong to them.

You are right, people can spend the money as they want but some should just accept to be cheap charlies <3 the kind of guy I usually don't even talk to.

  4. What is dirty is to spread your shiiite on your ass with paper and then spray water because if you try to spray water on your arm after having spread shiiite it won't leave.

What is clean is to use water first and then dry with paper or towel if you need it, but usually it dries so fast that it's even useless to use paper after.

Be smart! Save the world !

  5. Thank you, so to make it clear.

I could stay 1 year without leaving the country

But I need to report by post every 90 days and pay 1900 baht

So I will never have to go anywhere to meet any immigration and tell him information about my life that I do not want to talk about with anyone ? (reason why I hate all the other visas or extensions, I am not their friend and don't talk to peple who are not my friends)

When having this card are we treated better and do they understand that we are not simple tourists or just passers-by ?

    Thanks again.

  6. I mentioned this option in the other thread a few days ago, but nobody seemed to take notice.

I investigated this for a female friend if mine. I believe the 90 day reporting still needs to take place but this is carried out by the Thai elite people for you and that it is quick and easy BUT still costs 1900 baht every 90 days.

However, it also eliminates the need to leave Thailand every year (or every 15 months) to another country to obtain another Non Immigrant O visa, therefore potentially saving airfare and other associated costs, visas, hotels, car hire or whatever.

If you looked at the interest lost, then deducted what would be saved by not having to travel abroad for visas the. the 5 year 500,000 baht thing starts to look very attractive and much cheaper than 8k baht per month (probably half of that).

THE BIG CATCH, is will the system still be operating next week, next year, or in 5 years time? When the Thai elite visa service shut down before, it's members weren't automatically reimburse for the part used portion of their membership, to gain that they would need to take legal action against, Thai elite and can you imagine how smoothly that would have progressed.

    Hello,

I am sorry but are you sure that we need to report and pay 1900 thb every 3 months ?

If not I think this card is worth, just to avoid the hassle to havr to talk to any immigration more than once a year.

    Thanks.

  7. I'm suprise that people need help to understand that they should clean their home daily to get rid of the dust ? Do you really stay with girlfriends or boyfriends who do not even know how to clean properly ?

  8. I was a web developer for a few years. My best advice is to hire someone or look for an out of box method. If you try to build/implement/customize a web platform yourself you will be frustrated. A developer will know how and what to do.

Search for outsourcing to India or the Philippines. It is affordable and they know what they are doing. Make sure to see examples of work they have done before, avoid scammers or over eager amateurs this way.

Worst advice: be dependent on others.

Maybe you were not a very good web developper or you just want to protect your business :-)
