i've had enough scam artists (try) to get through my gate over the last few years so they won't be putting one foot on my families' property until they have been independently verified. and no, i won't be "inviting them in for dinner" either
-
i am aware i can discuss business, attend meetings and seminars with a non-B and without a work permit but can i do the same on a non-O marriage extension or would i need to change to a non-B? or get a work permit with my non-O?

...considering there are practically no rights associated with this display and outlay of cash....the laws should absolutely be ammended...
...the right to bring your money over....put everything in your wife's name...and then be kicked to the curb.....
...end result...egomaniac 'victim' wives.....broken homes and families....and scarred children.....
...the focus has too easily become money...capital...assets....
...not marriage...family....love.......
..a partnership has to be equal...equal rights.....
...not a lopsided rendition.....
...as it stands now...the laws...and lack of them...perpetuate this gross...perverse...injustice...
...with foreign men often losing all...including the children.....
i don't think it's a visa requirement to put all your money in your spouse's name
-
Best place to apply for a visa in the UK is the Thai consualte in Hull. They accept postal applications and deal wit them quickly.
What a pity that some members cannot be bothered to check the accuracy of what they state before posting nonsense which is clearly intended to confuse, mislead and misinform others
oh dear you'll never become a mod replying with that attitude nzexpat. have a look at the reply from ubonjoe as to how to handle incorrect information without being so condescending.

i miss the old days when could walk in and state "visiting friends"
-
I'd venture that those who would prefer to save 150 baht on a tuk tuk who will take you there and wait for you and take you back to the bus station are the same kind of people who would try to bargain down the price of a plate of noodles. Personally, I prefer comfort but others might prefer the 150 baht in their pocket.
some people like to walk because its good for you and keeps you fit, not everything is about money

can fathers get extensions of stay for looking after their children if wife dies or disappears?
-
Same here they came to check because there are no kids. It is ok if they do that once.. and interview the neighbors (like they did in my case)
But if they will come here every year it starts to become boring. I would say check it good once (they even went up into the bedroom) and then let it be.
Funny thing is they never want to see real pics of the relation (holiday pics and such and pictures of her in my country) but only the mandatory pics that can be faked easily.
i did my extension today in hua hin and the only thing wrong was the pics we submitted last year were not acceptable this year because we had the same clothes on in each picture. apparently this can be easily faked so they sent us home to take more pics. the first two we took outside the house and for the next two i put a tracksuit top on. that was acceptable!
also this year i had way more money than the standard 400K in an account and no questions about income, working, etc.. i guess money talks afterall
-
yeah, seems to get more invasive every year, common sense would dictate it should get easier.. but TiTIt really is getting too much. What the hell has it got to to with them if you have kids or not! It's a marriage visa!
having to stay at home with wife for 10 whole days waiting for the visit is taking the piss

By say "family run business" what do you mean? Are you married to a Thai? If so, the rules change and I think that you only need 2 employees.
i'm married and was told i would still need 4 employees (hua hin)

Apparently Thai economists are not learning anything from the failures of the west, USA in particular. Quantitative easing is being abused and creates currency supplies based on nothing. Now in Thailand as well? Say goodbye to all your easy and now fleeting riches Thailanders. This will create a bubble not unlike the bubbles that occur in America, the latest being the housing bubble created through the easing under the Clinton admin.
thai economists are learning everything from the west. they and their monied masters will of course be loading up on assets and awaiting the wealth effect
the poor however will suffer the same fate as the developed world. runaway inflation in food, rent, education and healthcare..
oh well cant win em all

so rising thai public debt is not a problem anymore?
spend spend spend say credit card companies..

You guys really only want to see that the Thais are ripping you off.
Problem: Empty hotels rooms because no visitors are coming from Europe.
Solution 1 Do nothing and take the hit.
Solution 2 Offer the rooms at a discount to encourage locals to use the empty rooms.
Room prices for European package deals are already highly discounted, its the flights that cost.
Stop whinging
Solution 3 Offer the rooms at a discount to encourage
localsanyone to use the empty rooms.- 4

You're not quite right with your statement. It means the end of double pricing, now you've got a discount for locals.there's that "for thai people only" bit. how long do us foreigners have to put up with this racist, apartheid double pricing bullshit?
whats next? ferang at the back of the bus only..
Fatfather
yeah sorry i'm just a bit cranky after i got a haircut yesterday and noticed that i had to pay double, SORRY, that thais get a 50% discount just before i had to pay. owner wasnt too pleased when i pointed out i could in fact read the thai language pricelist

oh, and citizens are just going to volunteer all this taxable income information then..?
-
"Agriculture Minister Pitipong Puengboon Na-Ayutthaya said the planned registration is not aimed at updating the database of tax payers but it is aimed at allowing the government to provide enough financial support to low income earners in time."
yeah right.
wasn't it just yesterday that Prayut was complaining taxes in Thailand only account for 18% of GDP compared to 40% in developed economies?
