The OP mentions only one resort. That is the other resort?
My house, that i have lived in for over 15 years is supposedly on Forestry land, as well as half my village. A few years ago, they started surveying, and issueng first time chanotes. They quit when they got to my property line, but said "coming soon", that was 3 years ago. My property was cleared of jungle 10 years before i bought it, and crops planted on it. My understanding of thai law, which is limited, is if you clear forestry land, plant crops, etc., and the forestry dept doesn't kick you off in a certain amount of time--it's yours??--like homesteading?

Chiang Rai was my last port of call as in vacation while I lived in Thailand, I spend at least one night in every province of Thailand, and I can say I ll like to go back to Thailand and live in Chiang rai when I get much older.
To the big old fella, (Dutch I think) That owns the restuarant opposite the liquor shop, I hope you still going very strong.
I love Chiang rai like I loved samui late nineties.
The Dutch restaurant has since closed in downtown Chiang Rai and he has relocated to Bandu, 12 Clicks or so. The restaurant is up and running and the food is still good.
Where in Ban Du???

Just a thought but its possible that the university uses the same fibre optic connection for all of the students there ? Does the service decrease in school hours ?
Not really sure. Trying to get good info from the kids that work in the sales offices is an exercise in futility. You raise a good point however.
It appears that CAT is not a popular service with our TV readers. I guess I will try the broadband to start and if response time is poor I can try upgrading and hope that, at some reasonable cost, I can get acceptable response times.
Sunholidaysun1, thank you for your reply. Hopefully I will have a good report in about a weeks time. Fingers crossed!!!!!
Live in the area, have had, TOT, CAT, now have 3BB=happy with so far.

Are they still alive in the mornings ?
At the moment yes, but if that smoke is being inhaled , eventually the lungs will pack up .
I have smoked cigs for 50 yrs and breathed CR smoke for over 20. My lungs are not "packed up". Move to Napal or somewhere if your so worried about it.

I find that most appliances, electronics are disposable now. It might cost more to fix them, than a new one. Buy mid-range, hope for longevity, and sometimes you win-I have a Fridge over 13 yo, and it is one of my best

How can it be a cultural show when you learn nothing from the visit? When you are lied to?
Wrong, i learned the neck isnt stretched , but the rings push the collar bones down.

Looks a bit on the small side, I was expecting an awful lot of dosh from my Tarmac Scam. If the Tarmac doesn't work out I'm going to introduce brass rivets to Thailand for machetes and the like. I bought one about 10 years ago in the UK, cheap as chips about 5 dollars and the handle just won't fall off. got to be down to those Brass or copper rivets. Just imagine how many machetes there are in Thailand, I mean everyone must have 2 or 3 per household, and the handle comes flying off every 10 minutes and they fix it constantly as if its connected to the Wheel of Dharma in a constant Birth/rebirth cycle.
anyway, isn't the Forum chatty today. got to be a good thing, surely
Who cares, we only have till Dec 21

One would hope they are in short supply and difficult to acquire.
Alot friendlier to the environment than Roundup or Gramoxone.
Used to use one on my mums old allotment back in the UK years ago.
Never seen one in LOS.
And what is wrong with Roundup, i use gallons a year, and no smoke. And it is from such a reputal company- Montsanto. Eventually the weeds come back, but it is a good break in the fight. Now Paraquat is different, i think it is another name for 'agent orange'

I use the recycled plastic "Jerry Cans" from the place near the rear gate of the little duck. IE not the super hiway entrance.
I have a couple of these, I only use them for Deisel though. I
Try the army surplus stores on the way to Pattaya Noi, they might have jerry cans.

Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, March 08, 2012.
In northern Asia, a fast moving system will move through south of Honshu Thursday morning, bringing a brief period of rain to portions of eastern Honshu, including Tokyo and Mito areas. Farther north, a large low pressure system will bring a chance of precipitation over far northeastern China, eastern Russia and Hokkaido. Precipitation should be mainly scattered and remain on the light side.
Moving to eastern China and Taiwan, a pool of moisture combined with a stationary front will continue to trigger light to moderate precipitation across central and southeastern parts of China and Taiwan. This front will shift slightly north on Friday, bringing light rain to southern Japan.
Over Australia, no good news is for New South Wales through Friday. The persistent low pressure system off the coast will remain stationary and continue to produce rainfall across the southeastern Australia. This will cause even more flooding in some areas. Conditions may improve slightly Saturday as the low moves toward New Zealand. Farther north, tropical moisture will keep scattered showers and thunderstorms going in northern Queensland and Northern Territory.
