  1. You would think every Makro store is almost the same since it's a chain store. Reality is far from that. It depends a lot on the store size, location and obviously the store manager how their range of products is and how well they are stocked. I have around three Makros around my home and avoid two like the plague.

    MG4:

    Battery Type
    Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery
Maximum Power (PS (Kilowatt)) 170 (125) Model X (Model D)
Maximum Torque (Newton – Metres) 250
Battery Capacity (Kilowatt – Hour) 51
Maximum Range (NEDC Mode) Kilometres 425

    0-100 km/h 8.6 s

    BYD Dolphin:

    Maximum distance 410 km

    0-100 km/h 12.3 s

    70 kW Motor

    Battery LFP 44.9 kWh

EV charger. AC type 2 / DC CCS 2 (60 kW)

BYD now has 46 dealerships in Thailand:

    MG has far more

I'd definitely would opt for the MG4. Not because I own one and I'm super happy with it.

I've done extensive research before my decision, which was buy either Atto 3 or MG 4.

My GF helped me with searching also Thai reviews and FB groups.

Main issue about BYD is the lack of dealer network and situation with spare parts in the country.

But to me the test drive really made a difference and the impetus to buy the MG4.

So do the test drive and choose which car you like more.

To me, Suphan Buri is hardly the middle of nowhere. There is a Robinson department store and a multiplex cinema with a soundtrack option, although they may have fewer features. What kind of activities are you looking for? Perhaps they can be found there. I can find several gyms with a simple Google search. You might want to try again with the keywords 'fitness' or 'ฟิตเนส' because that's what Thais call a gym.

One hour drive to Suphanburi town. Hardly near...

  4. Got offered a decent paid job but in the middle of nowhere.

The location is Suphanburi province near the border to Chainat province.

Currently I am living with my partner in a house near Lat Krabang and have no intention to leave from there.

The potential workplace is a 2,000 soul village with 7-11 and CJ Mart. Suphanburi city with the next Makro or possibly other food than Thai food or something to entertain is a one hour drive by car. Obviously it is also impossible to commute every day to BKK from there.

The housing might be subsidised by employer or even fully paid.

I am concerned that the first two months there might go well but after that I think I might bore myself to death.

Besides riding motorcycle or fishing I can't see any activities to do there not to mention I'll be alone there as only farang during the week and have no intention to make friendship with other Thais, which mostly included sitting around doing nothing and / or drinking.

There isn't even a gym in a nearby radius, which is another downside.

As much as I'd like to get the job and work there I think it might be better to be honest to the employer from the beginning and decline the offer. Or should I just take the money for whatever two or three months and then just change to a more suitable working location?

Yes. It's possible but most units are designed to accept inputs wirelessly. So it could get complicated and expensive fast.

You want to control them external to the site, what lead you to that solution to begin with, what's your desired outcome, in other words, why this way?

    What's the problem you're solving?

    Do you have a grow?

If you do, there are websites devoted to those challenges with technology.

The more detail you can share the more alternatives or solutions are likely to emerge in reply.

The units are domestic ones with IR remote controls. And also no temperature display on the units anymore (new design...).

The problem I try to solve is to 1. run them all at the same temperature without running around with the IR remote and checking each unit individually and 2. set the temperature from a single wired controller and connect this controller to the Trolmaster system

As you know by now, yes it is a grow. And yes, it is very badly planned with domestic air cons, I am aware of this. I wasn't involved in the planning stage as I joined this company just recently and trying to fix all these errors....

BYD Dolphin ext range rumoured to be making an appearance soon.

    60 kWh battery giving 427 km ( WLTP ) and 201 Horsepower , 290 nm torque.

    11 kw AC charging and a 7.1 second 0-100 km/h.

I better shut my mouth about electric battery cars.

    In Thailand??

But have fun if you have the money to waste and circle around the neighborhood.

What do battery storage systems have to do with EV cars?

Please explain. I'm eager to know the relation.

Meanwhile I'm happy to drive around the neighborhood with 1/10th of the cost of a gasoline car with my EV....

You should be able to find volcano in Thailand online (Facebook or Line groups)

Thais always find a way to import and sell illegal items.

Be prepared to pay more for the service.

If you were an expat with a family who needs car to go everywhere - mostly work everyday and sometimes trips to beach road trips on holidays etc….but you might only be here one or two more years and then have to sell before you leave…..would you still buy an electric vehicle? And if so which?

currently we rent for 16k month - a petrol car since August.

    Thanks

    How's your financial situation?

Just asking because with no work permit history it might be difficult to get a car financed or you plan to buy everything in cash?

And do you really need an EV? You can make calculations based on gasoline and electricity cost.

Another question, can you charge at home? And even if you can, be prepared to pay another 10k for meter upgrade and wiring. Home charger / wallbox is free when purchasing a new EV. If second hand EV , expect another 10k to buy home charger.

Charging externally at public outlets is a pita and expensive.

You might consider second hand vehicles (ICE or EV) from the dealer.

Toyota, Honda and MG have good reputation for selling reliable and well maintained second hand cars.

"and a car"... That's the whole difference it makes. Drive down the motorway stress-free to Sattahip, board at leisure, relax and enjoy live music while dining on deck, sleep soundly and disembark in Nathon the next morning. Sure, it is pricey, but it beats the alternatives. The most convenient if money is no issue but time is limited would be flying, which will cost considerably more if factoring a car rental in Samui. The cheapskate option would be the train or bus to Surat Thani.

Driving down the coast by way of Hua Hin and Chumpon used to take us 3 days, on the infamously murderous Thai road network. And on occasion, we would miss the last Seatrans ferry in Donsak, or could not book a passage until the next day, etc.

In our case, the ferry is awesome. The car is always chock-full of stuff, either items of domestic comfort that we take along for our stay, or stuff that we bring to install in the house, or stuff that we take back from the house to reinstall in another property elsewhere...

We just disembarked from the Blue Dolphin in Sattahip this morning, and were back in Bangkok for lunch. I would not fight with Seahorse Ferry if they offered discounts for Samui residents etc., but I merely pray that they keep sailing for many years.

You're right. I'm not saying the ferry service is bad. Just not suits my requirements, budget wise. I have no problem renting a scooter on Samui, so flying to Surat Thani and then take the ferry would be my choice. Train I've also done before if time was no constraint.

Bangkok Airways about 7,300 baht return, so two people 14,600 baht. Add in a night's accommodation on the way down as you wouldn't want to do that drive in one hit, maybe 2,000 baht, so 16,600. Add in fuel - 3,000 baht minimum? So 19,600 baht.. Add in the cost of car rental in Samui while you are there (1,000 baht per day currently) and you would be over 25k for a week's trip.

14,000 baht is not massively cheaper but is a fair bit cheaper. And a hell of a lot less stress. It's not a journey that I need to make - I last drove to Samui two years ago and took two nights to break up the journey - but if I wanted to do it again I would definitely consider driving to Sattahip and taking the ferry for a stress free journey, have some food and a few beers and wake up there.

I don't think price is their USP.

Ok, that's all direct and the probably most convenient way. But I'd reckon train and bus to Chumphon or even flying to Surat Thani and take the ferry is much cheaper (possibly half price)
