  1. He's been living under a different name since the 1990's. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c33zee04824o0
  2. Seems like not much is done at the Thai end to intercept it. UK seizures at airports for 2024 were highest since records began, 50% coming from Thailand. "The data suggest that about half of the arrests (184) involved arrivals from Thailand, 75 from Canada and 47 from the U.S." https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/08/40604161/whats-behind-increased-cannabis-seizures-at-u-k-airports-supply-demand-and-naive-smugglers
  3. Given his history you'd have thought he'd have tried to avoid "golden" metaphors. This one brings to mind a giant anti missile sprinkler system filled with Russian pee...
  4. Krungsri is great regarding getting everything done the same day at Chaengwattana. And the staff there always seem to be well informed on the requirements from immigration upstairs.
  5. Most definitely, ineffectually disguised behind a very unconvincing cheeky chappie cockney accent.
  6. Think the Subway at 7/1 has closed now, but you can still buy a footlong around there.
  7. Got the alert on my Android phone which I wasn't expecting given it's still on Android 10. The iOS information seems more accurate - on iPadOS 17 and no alert received.
  8. Disagree that it's necessary to be married to have a committed and happy relationship (whether in Thailand or anywhere else), but you might be right about the IO's thinking. Especially if the Non B was recently cancelled and the OP was fairly obviously out of alternative long stay visa options. In any event this sounds less like a rejection and more like a postponement of the application for extension. No doubt things will go smoothly after a couple more months.
  9. Yes it looks like you're fully funded. And even if the statement was unclear and did actually assume you'd be making contributions the next two years to get this amount there'll be plenty of time to sort it out. One thing of interest about the statements - irrespective of contributions made they are automatically updated twice a year. Firstly in April the projection increases after the current year triple lock is applied, and then in around November the record decreases when the previous year's future contribution gets moved across to become one of the "payable gaps".
  10. Somewhere on this page there should be a link titled something like "view gaps in your record and the cost of filling them". If you open the new page it will indicate any missing back years, and you can also tot up the number of full years that have been paid from there.
  11. Won't be any problem given that you have proof of payment. 65 weeks is horrifying, having said that I made my final four back years payment in December 2024 and my record was updated in less than a week (two years ago it took a couple of months). This time round they allocated the years correctly just by matching the amounts. However on a previous payment they did apply it to the wrong years - I phoned HMRC to tell them and they reallocated the money in real time while I was on the phone.
  12. There was a time when he looked like Hewitt, but as he gets older he's turning into a spitting image of the Duke of Edinburgh.
  13. "Ooh, I need a dirty woman. Ooh, I need a dirty girl" Young Lust - Pink Floyd
  14. It's a combination of the much older phenomenon of grumpy old men, emboldened by the anonymity of internet forums. Mostly benign, and generally a lot less harmful than the social media cesspools that suck in younger generations.
  15. The Philippines/UK agreement was not instigated by the UK government, but by the Philippines government back in the 1980s as part of an outreach for reciprocal benefits with other countries where there are large numbers of OFWs. Aside from the UK they also signed agreements with many European countries, as well as Japan, Korea and Canada.
  16. Just going on the increase from 800k to 2m, could be looking at 290k. 800-1m @ 20% = ฿40000 1m-2m @ 25% = ฿250000
  17. Nothing wrong with your memory, it used to be there on the forms pertaining to the Non O-A extension. The grandfathering rules for pre 1998 are set out in clause 7.
  18. Could've been worse. He could have said "Och aye the noo"...
  19. Got to feel a bit sorry for him. When I was at school anyone who ran like that would have been teased and bullied mercilessly.
  20. I like how he was sitting on the steps outside HealthLab, presumably waiting for them to open in a few hours...
  21. Presumably most of them would be quite pleased by this development.
  22. For the most common type of damage (wall cracks etc) the compensation is absurdly low - I think there's a sliding scale beginning at around 75 baht.
