  1. It's a bit of thin cloud or haze. You'll just have to wait until the next satellite image. Unfortunately it's not a perfect world.
  2. StreamVPN provide a service for Holland. (and just about every other European country) It is a paid for service but they provide an excellent service and are very reliable. Visit their site here.
  3. Had you not made an important gaff in your earlier post I might just have 'let it go'. You said that 'they usually do a passenger count whilst taxiing to the runway'. That is not correct. Passengers are counted as the pass through the departure gate and then they are counted again as they enter the aircraft. If you look carefully, one of the flight attendants will be using a manual click counter and the count that he or she makes must match that at the departure gate. Up until the point when the doors are closed, responsibly for the number of passengers lies with the ground staff. After that it's up to the airline. If the aircraft then departs the gate and worse as in this case takes off, then there will be serious financial costs to the airline. Gate fees and in this case landing fees as well will be imposed. Yes, I agree with you, this is a serious incident, but the airline should always do its passenger count before departing the gate, never whilst taxying.
  4. Yes, it popped up on the BBC as well, in fact that's where I first read about it. This line comes from the full story: ''He said: “The temple is now empty of monks and nearby villagers are concerned they cannot do any merit-making.”'' It just shows the grip that the temple and the religion in general has over the populous. If they really do want to 'make merit' there are plenty of alternative ways other than feeding a bunch of idol layabouts.
  5. My UK license expired nearly 7 years ago and as I have no plans to return there I have not bothered to renew it. I couldn't anyway as I do not have an address I can use back there. I renewed my Thai licenses last year without any problem.
  6. To be quite frank, this new system is unlikely to have any impact on my life whatsoever. I was simply providing some information to two guys that seemed unable to find for themselves.
  7. I live next door to around 10 or more fighting cocks. They don't bother me in the slightest.
  8. There's nothing wrong with those cocks. It's an urban myth that cocks start to crow at dawn. https://animals.mom.com/silkie-chickens-start-crowing-6531.html
  9. Did you guys no bother to read the full article? ''Points will be automatically returned after one year. If only six points are left, the driver can attend a training course, arranged by the Land Transport Department, to restore points. If all the points are deducted, the driver will have their license suspended for 90 days''.
  10. It's called optimism. I have an abundance of it thanks. ????
  11. I've been using Logitech mice for years now and yes, they do wear out. The average life of a computer mouse is 2 to 3 years apparently, (see here ) I believe that's about the same length as real mice. (the ones with tails) I've had my current one for 2 years now and I've noticed that the left 'click' beginning to play up a bit. So it's time for a change. At 105 Baht I'm not complaining.
  12. Well I'm not about to start printing off unnecessary paperwork on the off chance that my regular IO has a sudden change of character. ????
  13. Never done it, never needed it. And I've never known an IO to have a hissy fit either.
  14. I can open them on my laptop but I've never had the need to print them anyway. So why worry about it? They'll send you an email when your next report is due.
  15. As I said, it's all down to market volatility. Wise will have annalists and computer algorithms constantly assessing what currencies are likely to be doing relative to each other, just as FOREX folk do. If they perceive that the currency being paid in is likely to fall against the Baht they will only allow a short window of opportunity for you to put your 'money on the table'. Otherwise they risk receiving less money than the deal is actually worth. This very morning they only allowed 1 hour on my GBP transfer. On the other hand, if they think that your currency is going to rise, they will happily allow you a longer period to pay in. You might just 'fall for the bait' and mistakenly think that you've beat the system, should you delay your payment. You haven't! Either way, the golden rule is never press 'confirm' until you're sure you're going to close the deal straight away.
  16. A Click 160cc has never been under 60,000 Baht. They've only been a available for a short time. I bought what was then a top of range Click 125cc back in 2015 and it cost 64,000 Baht. And it's still running very nicely 7 years on.
  17. It that case you should have addressed your, what are IMO unfounded and unhelpful comments to the community at large, not to me personally. I've been a customer of TransferWise (That is still the company's name BTW, Wise is their trading name) and regard them as totally reliable, very efficient and they do exactly 'what it says on the tin'.
  18. That is not true. The rate that your are offered is only guaranteed for a set, usually short period and the more volatile the market rates are, the shorter that period is. I've seen it as short as 1 hour! If you do want to play at being an amateur FOREX dealer, use the Multi Currency Account.
  19. And that's all I ask of it. All the rest of your comments above are. to me, irrelevant.
  20. No, not necessarily. Many power plants, particularly nuclear ones, cannot be switched off anyway. There must always be some residual output no matter what. So they are simply utilizing that output to good effect.
  21. Referring to just one person's experience out of the many thousands of similar cases, is hardly proof that my chosen way lacks efficacy. And there are, I'm sure many thousands of cases where conventional medicine has also failed to save lives.
  22. It's true that Wise is not a bank, but they regulated by the FCA in the UK and FinCEN in the US. They do not hold your money themselves, it is kept in escrow accounts, separate from their own funds. They do have an office in London and they have many offices around the world and there are real people in them. Here's a short list. Wise is, of course a transfer business, not a savings bank. I still have a UK bank account so I do not park money with Wise, but I wouldn't worry overly if I found it to be necessary.
  23. With every bank I use, it's a simple matter to download statements.
  24. As you said yourself, using 3 or 4 banks, (3 actually) you can transfer more than the 50k limit. So which bank does the school use? If it's one of those 3 banks then there's no problem sending the higher amount. If, like me, you use a none partner bank, then 50k cap applies. I have noticed that just recently Wise have stopped posting the usual advice about this when making a transfer. I wonder whether the limit still applies. Has anyone out there tried?
