The sickest thing about Thaksin is between his ears. Ask the relatives of the 2,500.

So if it wasn't reported and they didn't want it publicized where did Tanakorn Panyadee get the story?

Reading between the lines I would guess Police General Permpoon is looking forward to some grant money to provide equipment for online English lessons in regional schools. I just hope they stick to the language and not the woke nonsense kids are brianwashed with in UK schools these days.

its really none of our business.
yes, its obvious what is happening here........but we are not Thai, and we choose to live here or not...........for now at least we have that choice....
before we start criticising Thai politics, we should all take a long hard look at our own governments, especially UK and US
A good point. I do spend as much time criticising both the government and the opposition in the UK, but not on Asean Now of course. The trouble here though is also a matter of 2,500 lives which people seem to have forgotten.

Welcome to the Land Of Smirks. Please pay your entry tax at the kiosk and then proceed to the tax desk to pay duty on all money you have brought into our country. We will check your health care insurance to ensure you are covered for covid, traffic accidents and gunshot wounds.
Have a nice holiday.

I will say this again as I always do when wages are the topic: It is time people were paid by the hour in Thailand. Salaries can only demamd what the market will stand for the skills on offer.

All foreigner wanted the CHANGE: HERE IT COMES????????????????????
(I repeat) A strange comment among several that don't fit the facts since the Thais voted for MFP not PTP, and got PTP thanks to the Senate vote. The Senate was appointed and is controled by the previous government who took power in a coup.

Great to see this party back in power again. Its like early Thaiksin or Tony Blair or Justin Trudeau. You start governing for all people not the rich elites, you reach out to the poor Northern areas too, to the low incomed and forgotten, the struggling groups barely making it through. You give people hope, you open up your country, you improve education and investment and encourage foreign investment too. As countries improve too you introduce a dynamism; you bring down drug taking, crime and unemployment. The cynics will say blah, blah but no younger fresh new ideas will help Thailand to what it was like before the coups. This was what the Thais voted for.

First I have to say all the Weed shops don't look good to Family Tourists and given all the "other" entertainment available quite openly it will not encourage them to holiday in Thailand. For myself i just get tired with the virtue signaling weed heads who go on and on about how much better it is for you and how, unlike alcohol, it doesn't kill people. The sale to adults should be allowed but with a restriction on how much you can buy in any given 30 days. A "weed licence" should be available at a reasonable price from clinics and hospitals with an electronic record of how much credit is left and have the purshaser's ID number or passport number as a means of stopping people having multiple record cards. I am not against dope but I believe it encourages people to try other drugs.

Why are they still referring to him by his full name rank and his nickname"big Joke" over and over again? by now, every person in Thailand knows very well who is Police Lieutenant General Surachate and Big Joke, and that both names refer to the same person...
Local reporters get paid by the word. Every repeat is more money if it isn't edited. Algorithms can't tell it is the same sentence written again with different words. Isn't AI wonderful.

This guy's inflated ego will burst one day. Who has a pin I wonder?

HMRC can send the (frozen) State Pension payment overseas but many of us still have bills to pay in the UK so paying them will be a problem and double the exchange charges. I had intended to do 185/6 days and 180 days but with covid and the price of flights now it isn't so attractive. It also means paying for two properties year round. The "proletariat" as they see us, are being squeezed into boxes so they can control us more easily.

On my list to avoid like the plague.

So only for medical use but going to control.retail outlets lol. So what will the retail be selling ???????? Insult to a persons intelligence reading the news in Thailand
The retail outlets should be more like a herbalist retailer's not fashion boutiques or i-shops. People over 21 should be allowed some small quantities for relaxation and pain relief. Weed retailers are more numerous than convience stores in some areas.

I did not like Thaksin when he was PM but he was elected by the people and he did a very good job. Just look at the countries accomplishments: GDP, foreign investment, English level and education.....
I suggest more effort in research is required as that statement is laughable. The only good idea he had that did not make him money was not financially sound and that was the 30 baht health scheme.

If I remember correctly there is a statute that says roughly: No person who has been convicted of a criminal act shall be deemed acceptable for any government post.
Please Buddha, let us not have that man back in direct control in any capacity.
Of course there is the matter of K. Prompao's heroin conviction in Australia but Thaksin was convicted in Thailand so there can be no exception.

Could be they claim it & force you to reclaim it via a Tax Return in Thailand or your home country or both.
So, does that mean all money transfers will see a "deduction for tax" on it as the banks collect the money to pass on the the Tax Department?

Joke had some powerful friends in high places in the last administration, but even they had to curtail his ambitions.
So, is he yellow or red?

Are they two different stories? injuries and what happened are different.
Let's say the falang could have avoided it
Two amost identical stories that happened in the same place and at the same time.
Only two Thais arrested, not a group which is normal, for beating up a drunk with a British passport in Bang Lamung.
You don't have to be Columbo to put this together.

A case of same-same different day. This settlement negotiation must have been going on for a couple of weeks while all the jigsaw pieces were put back together after voters spoiled the plan by supporting the wrong party.
I bet the families and friends of the victims of the "War On Drugs" will be delighted to get this news.
The land of smiles never ceases to stay the same.

Yeah, Sir Kier does all his own shopping and lives on a shoestring. Their is a reason for the expression "champagne socialist" and he is a prime example. I think the last Thai PM who wasn't unusually rich was Chuan Leekpai.

I always find it amusing that politicians go on fact finding missions like this. They are simply self promotional visits. I would bet he has no knowladge of what the price of anything was 3, 6, 12 months ago and has no concept of how much a 10, 20 or in some cases 50% increase in supplies means for Mr and Mrs Somchai and their three kids. Maybe he could give some thought to Thais being paid by the hour sometime soon though.

Maybe he was scared he would be charged 35% tax for using an ATM to get money from Aussie so he brought cash.
As that old saying goes: "Send your money on holiday to Thailand and stay at home yourself".
