I question if this is BS or not you walk around nana on suk and they start drinking at 10 in the morning straight through to closing

The bar's license seems to cover sales between 2-5pm or is there a "police licence" you need to pay for weekly or monthly?

Buying from any shop with an electronic till is basically impossible.

My goodness. Sorry, but a little bit naive. You cannot imagine that the noise moves to you? For instance the area where I bought my condo was completely quiet when I bought it and this for very many years. Now it is surrounded by very many often extremely noisy bars.

I would not buy anything here anymore. I am thinking about selling my unusable condo - if I find an idiot that buys this noisy condo now. I never will buy a condo again in Thailand. It is a bigger condo and I have lost a lot of money...

And please no discussion like double glazed windows or whatever. This is naive too. Believe me I have done much better things than this for a lot of money. It is not easy especially to block deep frequencies. And sometimes even the floor vibrates.

I have to say I have been here many years myself and one of the reasons I have never "bought" anywhere here is what has happened to you. But you must realise it hasn't just happened to you it is every other person in the building, that would be 90% if they stuck to the rules on Condos. Nobody else complains of course. The building owners must not have paid off the land owners where the bars have been built. Have a polite word in the juristic office if you speak enough Thai. I would bet you are not alone.

Every week we get this push for 4 am closing.  The alcohol lobby cares not one wit about the people.  Just keep pushing for more and more profits and who cares about the people who live in the neighborhood.

I always find this an odd argument. Why would anyone move next door to a noisy "entertainment area" if they knew it was there, and then complain it is there? Noise abatement in Thailand is hopeless and complaints to the police or local authorities are ignored. The property agents might have advertised it is as "a downtown but quiet area" but they also say it is two minutes from the BTS when it is 20 minutes walk. Look before you buy.

    Nothing new in Thailand

Memories of an ex-cop who was in charge of purchasing of computers for all police stations in Thailand

His wife allegedly opened a computer company and he bought all the computers from her instead of IBM

136 million baht was pocket change to him

His inspiration must have been Thaksin who bought a load of second hand US Army comms equipment and sold it to his police bosses. That was the beginning his fortune 500 company that he sold tax free for billions.

Oh dear I thought guys like you only existed in coffee threads but we got beer snobs too. ????

Its a good thing there are craft beers even if you think they are too expensive. Not everyone thinks they are too expensive maybe for guys that need to drink a lot all the time but not for people who enjoy taste over volume.

Let people choose don't be a snob.

I am not a snob I just have knowledge on the subject. The Craft Beer connoisseurs are the snobs who pay extraordinary prices for beer that tastes of cappuccino etc.

I don’t want him anywhere NEAR Immigration, ever again. The so-called “culture of tips” is the only way I can continue to stay here.  The last thing Thailand needs is western-style “clean” policing.

Sorry, you have to play by the rules as they stand. Big Joke made things up as he went along the same as ever.

  9. Sadly I was so pleased to see the back of the Shin tribe I thought Prayut would be a good guy.

Considering he has done little in keeping his promises in the last eight years it is time he went, but not just a swap for The Watchman.

2014 to 2017 was his 1st term and his second full 4 years has come to its end.

It is time for an election.

  10. I just read this headline on a website (with no byline):

    Quote

Businesses will close if a tourism tax is introduced in Wales, according to industry leaders.

With the exit fee included in ticket prices this will be another No Entry sign for tourists to LoS. With all the double pricing in restaurants and even for government run parks, the endless scams from jewellery to taxis, to say nothing of the increasing amount of street crime, people will not stay long if the come at all.
