  1. One of my neighbors is a policeman ..

he told me in a round about way , old people and or people that look poor , it’s not worth fining , sometimes they stop them as a matter of course but only to give a warning , there’s absolutely no point in a confiscation of vehicle or fine because they 9/10 won’t be able to afford it and it will ruin their livelihood ...

ive noticed in the past 8-9 months they DO stop youngsters ( Thai ) a lot now , I assume they get the same treatment as us Farang .. mainly for Helmet lack of ... some / most can’t have licences either I’d wager .

I have all , but when I was stopped a week or so ago after checking my tax , he told me this runs out next week . I said I know , he said it’s ok for a few month after , but don’t forget . ?

  2. True . You pay the bar not the girl , and that covers their loss of potential earnings due to lack of staff . Then

whatever you do between the two of you in private is up to the pair of you

that cant and isn’t against the law .

Ive never seen posters in bars advertising price for sleeping with bar girls .

None of this affects me any longer ( unfortunately) lol . But I can see why this what the police concluded . Again .

The tourists in the photo came to Pattaya in a bus driven directly from China, they got off the bus, into a boat taken to the parachute rubbish off the coast, parachuted, then came back to the beach, boarded the bus and went to the next destination, which is the fake floating market off Sukhumvit on the way to the NongNuch tropical gardens for the morning Thai culture show, all prepaid.

Nearly correct , after the parachute ride , they go onto Koh Larn , for a sit down , 2 hours eating in a prepaid Chinese owned beach restaurant. And a splash about .. then back to the beach road to collect from coach . Possibly a trip on said coach to pratumnak Hill to see the Buddha, or Chinese temple . Carnage . As I live on the hill ..

  4.

I thought , or understood probably incorrectly I guess ,

that the rules were , inprisoned until somebody pays for your flight home for example , unless you can finance this yourself but I would imagine that’s the reason they are still here because they can’t .

So imo , hardly any actually get deported .. so the prisons are even more crowded ? I doubt that too ... I know of an individual , remain nameless

who had overstayed by 2years , caught under different circumstances

    ( at hospital ) . Locked up 3 days , ( I was happy because , glad to see ) .

Only to find out that he was out and about the week after .. ?

  5. Just seen an ‘ incident ‘ about 30 min ago , A 4x4 reversing onto a road , one guy got out of the passenger side to stop traffic , fair enough, guided him out .. got back in , then the car reversed even more and reversed into a parked car on the opposite side of the road , about 10 people shouted as you can see what was just about to happen .. bang !

Then they just drove off , as if  nothing happened . Smashed the offside rear lights etc ... I drove up ( on my bike ) along side at the next junction and indicated what happened , answer . “ ok ok , it’s no problem “ .. drive off .. ?? ( a Farang was the passenger ) .

How embarrassing to see what looked like a middle aged or older, supposedly adult human being, make an absolute prat of himself in front of what is probably his wife. Its Thailand, so what if mopeds ride on the sidewalk. Get over it and if you don't like it, go back to cold, grimy UK where you can not fart without being taxed, or arrested, or wherever you come from.  What is it with people who think it is there right to attack people. Why do people fight all the time ? Chill out. Grow up. Get a life.  You are a guest. Back to the school yard.

And how clever are you to know he’s from the UK . ?

  7. I dunno , my missus loves it so much that when I decided to retire to the land of smiles , she said she’s not going back (UK ??) . She’s been there 13 years now , ( 18 years together ) and I’ve now been retired out here for 3years . We talk every other day , FaceTime etc .. but she has no interest in coming back , even says if she can ,she’ll continue to work though her 60’s if possible .. likes working , earning , sending cash home etc .. stays with another thai lady now , rents a room .

  8. Thing is the hoards ,particularly from China , hardly spend any money in real terms , they stay in Chinese owned hotels , Chinese coaches ferry them around , they obey their guide holding a flag and follow them up and down the street .. but you never see them on their own/ couples in shops , restaurants etc .. is it cost effective, on Pattaya beach for example .. daily hundreds and hundreds of speed boats are constantly pilling them on and off taking them over to Koh Larn , to sit on the beach for an hour and into a Chinese owned restaurant for a quick lunch , hoarded back on again . The deasel alone chucked out by these boats can’t be good .

Don't be silly,, this is for farangs, not Thais..   like when there was a police road block opposite where I had dinner the other night, to book bike riders not wearing a helmet..  Farangs were stopped and booked,   Thais just got waved on through....

No wonder they never change !!!!

I was stopped yesterday to show my licence ( no problem ) . At the same time 2 Thais we’re getting fined for ‘ no licence and no helmet .

  10. I see many people still walking around ‘ smoking ‘ them , I think personally they are unaware .

Example I was standing outside a bar , only yesterday waiting for the rain the ease off , and a guy next to me started using one , I said they are illegal now aren’t they ?  He said not that he had heard , and why would they be ? ... I just shrugged, I dunno mate , just saying .

Yes but the trouble is that if you get sick and return to UK, someone might well utter the following words: "Sorry Howie, you made your bed, and you've had plenty of chances."

Yes but I haven't had plenty of chances , and as I say , I'd only expect the same as any immigrant would receive , plus I have paid national insurance for 39 years , my circumstances to ' Mark ' are completely different .

Still your entitled to your opinion ofcourse .

  12. You say this is not a unique story , but it's quite unique really , I mean firstly he's 41 and lived in thailand 15 years so he was 26 when he went there , so he's contributions into the state would have been very low ( Nat insurance etc ) . It looks like he's made one bad decision after another time and time again , and not though bad luck either , so under the circumstances I would say , tough .

Im all for ex pats etc being treated better than an illegal , or a supposed asylum seeker . Me for example ! , I waited until I got to 55 before I left for the LOS , and paid my dues for 39 years . Hopefully I dont make any bad decisions, like buying into bars etc , I have a budget and try and stick to it , you can't stop bad luck , I don't wish to return but I'd hope if I had to the state may be able to assist in some way . And it will only be through illness I'd imagine if I did .

Sorry ' Mark ' you made your bed . And you've had plenty of chances .
