Well in my view I see it happening a little bit each and everyday, with the household debt climbing out of control, NPL's not being added to bank balance sheets, the government failing to ensure they are on top of the inflation. The billions borrowed and the lower end of society out begging more and more. Tourism will be slowing down around the end of April. Prices are skyrocketing for food and power in the west, and as we found out yesterday many corporate locations are laying off folks, which does have a knock on effect here. I am sure some economic guru will be telling us the past few months are nothing to be concerned about. A few of the families we have been assisting are preparing to move back to the provinces they came from as it is getting harder and harder to live in Bangkok and the jobs are not as available as they were before.

Some people just can't handle anything that's out of their comfort zone. Tattoos are another one folks thing derogatorily of. How does having a tattoo make one not a public figure or a public servant. So many people in positions of power here, even at the top dog spot, and elsewhere have some ink on them. -
Political parties face tough balancing act in labour market

How big is the actual working force now compared to pre- pandemic levels. So many businesses still shuttered and many hotels closed going into the start of a 4th year. Do they obtain there stats from listed businesses only or a survey of all operating fronts. I know that the company my GFs brother and cousin work for are mainly staffed with foreign workers from Myanmar and Cambodia. How do they count this businesses employment now versus prior to covid when over half were Thai workers. -
Yes in addition to the mask and supplies donated, along with ventilators the US donated 2 million USD. Unilever donated 12 million Thb, OISHI donated 24 million Thb, Prudential donated 4.9 million Thb to 4 hospitals and many others donated including a personal donation of 2.8 billion Thb from the countries King....all donated to assist with Covid on top of what the government spent to buy supplies and vaccines from Sinovac, Sinkpharm, Pfizer, Moderna and then the lab making AZ. Many friends and I adopted families, gave them money to assist and then stocked a few if the food boxes set outside in Areas near us. The country did not sell the vaccines from China or others for profit.

We do the same when in Bangkok and using the MRT or BTS as well as when we are inside crowded locations. With school graduation upcoming for the GF's Daughter we will be in attendance with all of the other parents and I guarantee there will be a mixture of masks being worn, but I can also say without being wrong that all will be wearing masks. The Wat school has made it known that masks must be worn for the graduation as it is indoors in the gymnasium. My daughters from the US are arriving at the beginning of April and have asked whether masks will be needed. I advised them both that I will have masks available for wearing when we are on the mass transit when we are in BKK but then when we travel south to the house and to Krabi and Phuket, we will have them if needed but more than likely will go without wearing them unless in crowded locations.

You keep on citing the review but you ignore the Authors bottom section that makes what your saying worthless. Agreements and disagreements with other studies or reviews A recent meta‐analysis included five trials comparing N95/P2 respirators with medical/surgical masks and found no difference between groups for either influenza (RR 1.09, 95% CI 0.92 to 1.28), or respiratory viral infections (RR 0.89, 95% CI 0.70 to 1.11) (Long 2020). By excluding Loeb 2009 (an open, non‐inferiority RCT that compared medical/surgical masks with N95 respirators in protecting HCWs against influenza), the authors reported a significant protective effect against viral infections (RR 0.61, 95% CI 0.39 to 0.98). The authors do not report a rationale for the exclusion in the sensitivity analysis, and do not report on exclusion of the studies with low weighting, which arguably would be more relevant in a sensitivity analysis.

Bank account frozen
ThailandRyan replied to Tayida's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Because she dropped the complaint and to avoid a potential civil issue since the victim was recompensed the complainant has to complete the complaint removal which included the account being unfrozen. I know silly isn't it....but then TIT. Ergo why the letter written by the RTP stating such. -
Bank account frozen
ThailandRyan replied to Tayida's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Not odd at all. It was done because she decided to drop the complaint and had been refunded. The RTP officer working the case determined the seller was committing fraud so they contacted FB and had the account locked as a fraudulent account in an ongoing investigation. The letter was given to my GF after dropping the charges and she was told by the Lumpini officer to take it to the local branch of Bangkok Bank and give it to the Manager. It could not be given to the fraudster per police directives. I still have a copy of the original complaint and the copy of the complaint removal. I also have a copy of the letter she took to the bank to have the account unfrozen. All kept in case a civil suit was brought against my GF. Also advised to do this by the RTP officer investigating the case. Nothing odd about it at all. If there is an active investigation the police will freeze bank accounts as well as social media accounts to stop the fraud and gather more evidence. Again common practice if it is a true and active case. As said the bank could not unlock the account with the letter as the main branch had indicated other RTP offices had also requested the account be frozen for there fraud investigations. Apparently it was widespread. -
So wait, the article is wrong? High debt has nothing to do with harming the economy. Now you have me in stitches. Instead of humouring you any more I will ignore you because you can not seem to see when your wrong. So let's agree to disagree and head off into the sunset. Please don't respond as I wont see it.

Onto ignore you go as you don't see it...TTFN... How does debt affect GDP? In particular, CBO explains that "higher debt crowds out investment in capital goods and thereby reduces output relative to what would otherwise occur." In other words, high debt harms economic growth. https://www.crfb.org › blogs › high... High Debt Drags Down The Economy

Better take a look elsewhere. Household debt has become an alarming issue for the country, and as Thailand heads towards a general election this year, it’s a ticking bomb that needs the urgent attention of political parties making policy pledges to voters. Sharp increase. Thailand’s household debt has seen a sharp increase over the past 10 years from 59.3 percent of GDP in 2010 to 86.9 percent in the third quarter of last year https://aseannow.com/topic/1288318-political-parties-can-no-longer-evade-household-debt-crisis-facing-thailand/?do=findComment&comment=17936597 Household debt had risen to 14.9 trillion baht in the third quarter of last year, equivalent to 87 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). “As an international benchmark, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) warns a household debt-to-GDP ratio at 80 percent is a cause for alarm,” said Suwannee Jatsadasak, assistant governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT).
