  1. Only silly childish people automatically believe things told to them that facts don't support .

Polls ...that claim 85% of people love being gagged and bound by military constraints.

Promises , prosecution of opponents, fear and silencing ......

Now they use us to justify their existence.

We are flooding in on approval ?

Perhaps the Chinese whom plan a take over might be swelling some numbers?

Otherwise numbers from western countries are in fact down.

As for safety , I have complained to Police about gangs of thugs bashing people in Chiang Mai to no Avail.

And the brutal murders of Brits and subsequent comments from the Thai Pm do little to create a climate of confidence.

All these articles do is point out the level of honesty you can expect from officials here.

It's really laughable ....reminds me of the monty python routine when a knight has limbs missing but demands the opponent come back as he can ""still bite""

Everyone outside of Thailand knows this is a smelly fish we are dealing with ....and doomed by nature to fail.

It's as TS knows .....a matter of time......

These releases are feeble attempts to disguise the truth.....but similar States to Thailand military rule do likewise.....isolated information of facts are paramount to control of masses .

It will be interesting to see how "" dear leader"" handles media in the US

  2. An official report makes it clear ....

    It was wholesale murder

    http://www.hrw.org/reports/2011/05/03/descent-chaos

Read when you can ...especially the rounds chosen and the particular troops .

It's straight out of darkest Nazi Germany in terms of organised death inflicted on fellow citizens .

Oh come on, pluto. The darkest NAZI Germany in terms of organised death?

Even hardliners don't compare the UDD with it's militant supporters with NAZI Germany.

Lets leave ( if you can ) the fixation of childish deceit .

The article was not addressing nor I the red shirt behaviour .

It's in poor taste to audaciously dismiss the lives of the slain in that way

  3. Do you think the rich hiso's running the country give a damn about you dirty little peasants? The only time they ever think of you is when they need a new toilet licker to clean the marks of the bowl. Thailand stops at Bangkok and everything outside is insignificant and it is going to get a lot worse for you little people.

What if the army turned on the elites?

  4. The military government seems intent on making the deposed PM a martyr.

Dragging out the persecution or prosecution, depending upon's one view, will keep her name in the news and build sympathy for her.

No good will come of this. It is a recipe for civil disorder and will undermine the current military rulers' position. The courts are not seen as impartial, nor free of political interference from the military regime. A conviction, which appears to be preordained, will be treated accordingly. I genuinely fear the consequences of this as I believe that the majority of Thais will not support it. Despite what many foreigners assume about Thai people, they still have a soft spot for her.

He is right I feel ....the most easy to see point is that quote ""No good will come of this"

I share the viewpoint civil disobedience will manifest for sure if she is jailed .

Of which the Military Government will then highlight the need for their retention as being paramount.

Hence most likely more delays in the running of elections and the PM standing down.

Internationally it will look bad for the Government.

Countries like Australia already ban them from visits and don't acknowledge their mandate to rule- let alone go after opponents , after removing her from office via a judicial that's already highly controversial and seen as no more than a tool.( of Army)

America and Europe might well consider tougher positions and show disapproval of the continued stay by this Government in its transitional role when it adds court prosecution of woman no less the democratically elected leader and prior PM .

Meanwhile the Reds up north might decide to mobilise and things could escalate into a far worse situation.

The generals within the Thai higher sphere of power could well perceive an opportunity to split .

This might be the very worst situation leading to a war within the country .

More likely will be large scale social unrest and wide spread arrests and a righting of power and media censorship on a greater level.

The only conclusion I can come to is the Military are very aware of the possible consequences of going after YS and they are either expecting it and have plans in place to use such problems to their advantage .

Or they have under estimated the passive so far Reds and majority of Thais who might not like this action and have started to grow restless.

Then there is a brother who is wealthy enough to arm large groups of men who could head to Bangkok and cause massive upheaval and widespread trouble .

The army might have a big issue on its hands this time , not a novel by George Orwell and uni students on a Sunday afternoon.

  5. A psycho might assassinate him and the State department profusely apologise this occurred while on US soil.

Alternatively , they allow him to shine on condition our ""feel good needy boy"" announce election dates ...while addressing the prestige audience assembled for him.

Either way this story is less complicated since we all discovered this guy wants and needs to be loved .

Japanese get their projects , the Chinese make even larger deals and plan to even swallow up the entire Nation ...and it's all done lovingly , while ""dear leader looks down the camera and announces Thailand might be possibly hosting the Games or going to become world leader in preferred luxury tourism in Pattaya .

And that ""his noble teachings will be taught in schools"" and Thais are blessed and lucky to be worlds greatest Nation according to a poll internationally conducted.

  6. Prime Minister was not elected therefore internationally , and domestically , should not in the eyes of both be conducting polls to suggest he deserves to be or popular enough to continue to play statesman .

He promised to establish elections .

Preferably ones that reflect the desires of the majority.

This does not seem to be his agenda now.

And this year will see the international players remind him that he is not a recognised or just representative of Thailand .

  7. More pretense and rubbish from the General. The US has no reason to invite him to visit. He is attempting, once again, to use a red herring to deflect attention from his failed policies and lack of credible mandate to lead. This is a deeply superstitious man who has no grasp of history or statesmanship. He would be better off not addressing the public, than to put his foot in his mouth so frequently. His equating of distrust in his junta with distrust in Thai people in general is disingenuous at best. Thailand deserves better than what this man has to offer. He's not a patriot, he's a zealot.

I agree - he is simply an army representative that seized power and now likes to play Statesman .

  8. The man tries to garnish more xenophobic ill feelings .

He looks hopelessly doomed in the field of being a statesman .

Whilst Australia does in deed Ban him America does not just is embarrassed to have to associate with him so no invite.

After all he represents the Thai army not the Thai people.

Even by his own admission he rigs the polls to suit and fears real elections .

  9. To get extradiction fom the US, the lese majeste and failing to report to the junta would have to be dropped as they do not violate American laws. The US has a right to request that condition and the Junta has a right to forget extradiction.

With regard to the conspiracy to engage in terrorism, the Junta will have to show that that charge is not simply a poltically motivated excuse to reign in political opposition. Given all the rhetoric and actions of the Junta showing little tolerance to ANY political opposition and repeated production of ill-prepared evidence (having already shown its manipulation of confessions) to prove a fair and reasonable prima facie case against the accussed, the US may just respond with "we'll get back to you maybe after the next elections."

Basically it's true every Government in the West would object to any request that involves a military Government accusing someone they dislike .

The lesse majesty law has no currency in those countries ( Either US or Australia ) so it's really unlikely the man requested would be required to even explain himself and could in theory yell it out down the local pub without so much as complaint .

    Thailand is not the world

And your laws don't Carry in modern day countries.

Terrorism needs some more proof than a military word that tends to make its our polls too

  10. Australia would disbelieve a military junta in most cases.

It would further reject any application on law of which it deems draconian such as being critical of royalty .

The other charge more serious would be closely considered only when proof is very obvious, otherwise rejected.

It's more likely the person in this climate would get refugee status from Military Government that Australia considers unlawful and dishonest and bans from their soil.

  11. The Australian Government forbid this Thai military Government from setting foot in Australia for good reason.

The same reason the Americans have issues .

It doesn't represent the Thai people and is not elected or allows freedoms.

Countries where choice is given people naturally want the freedom to decide for themselves . Removing that freedom is perceived a universal wrong doing.

To go further, and forbid protest and free speech indeed places the western world on a collision course with you.

Ironically , these same people demanded the Police not interfere with the occupation of Government buildings by protesters back in the Mass demonstrations by the Bangkok people . ( prior to Coup)

They also made sure elections could be disrupted and laws broken to do so.

They now hold people with no trial who don't approve of them .

Have polls that say they are supreme in the preferred Stakes .

And speak in double speak to create a very intense fearful climate for any opposition to work under.

Couple that with insults to long time friends and business confidence plummeting and no real move to free and fair elections ....you have a recipe fora country to become unstable.

I recently sold my Condo in Chiang Mai and have my investments in Thailand all but gone as I fear this climate and speeches that don't make for a reassuring future.

I know many westerners who are selling up major assets and renting what they need instead.

This is because of business advice stemming from overseas predicting this Government are not going to leave or relinquish power soon.

And the xenophobic tone is slowly strengthening along with their position.

If anything they are stronger and on course to maintain and keep power in Thailand without much threat.

Key players in their market ensure they will manage to maintain economic balance but perhaps at the expense of ""other factors""

Meaning rules may change overnight ...taxes implemented etc.

    It's just uncertain times.

But back to the central theme of democracy ....

Without elections there is none .

    And this is the case.

And worse when people can not complain it is not a Type of good will government , but rather a control by authority which is not by the people or for them.

    That is the key point.

When you tell hostages "it's for their own good and be patient .."

It's simply not creditable or just or even most importantly ""legal"

    At least not internationally .......

And if they can live with that , justify that , what else can they do in future?

I am not brave enough to bank on it so cashed in.

My advice is for others to ponder hard their positions .

    ( While you can ) .

    Just an opinion of one

  12. Another case closed ....

I recently heard of a guy who accidentally belted his head through a TV set and stumbled off the verandah and died after the fall.

Then the food poisoning case in Chiang Rai resulting in death.....but belongings missing.

Sheets that kill with spray that are so toxic you die overnight.

This has been going on for years in various manifestations.

The suicides that involve guns meters from the body .

Rope around neck that was half hitched after the strain was taken from behind.

    Plastic bags on head .

    And everyone's favourite the jumper.....

Sometimes dispite a prior unbeat night laughs and friends insisting he was happy.

Of course ATM sometimes are looted.

And case closed without real investigation.

This guy most likely did trip in the shower ....but in this country you should never believe what you read to be gospel ...more so Politically these days .

I see gangs are a problem in Chiang Mai at present ....seems the police are simply just not that interested in arresting them ..meanwhile westerners are again going down without due processes being followed ...and a by line suffices.

Dying by sheet is a form of being murdered ....call it man slaughter if you wish ....often the dual safe key is used to pillage belongings ...families of deceased file reports ..( like the woman in Chiang a few years ago) claiming expensive gold and diamond ring was missing necklace etc....

I just feel there is often more than meets the eye in many not so innocent cases.

  13. The military rule in Thailand ,has since announcing measures like unelected PM continuation - and polls that ""only "" reflect pro Government position 's in popularity cemented its credentials internationally .

Ironically , not as being creditable where judicial freedoms are concerned or free speech in critical thinking.

YS seems to understand the greatest harm she can inflict on what is a doomed situation for all sides is fighting the case .

Sanctions are certain to manifest this year in light of the Governments statements of recent.

And this case if prosecuted will ensure only harsher measures .

Currency falls in the baht ( long over due ) will happen by years end and be far worse than ever dreamt of.

The realities will hit very hard for this Government - and Thai people .

YS and her case won't help.

She is perceived as a political victim here by international observers and her prosecution will just leave little doubt this military Government is not Just in its intensions ...least of which to hold free and fair elections where the people decide on democratic law.

Sanctions are now being viewed as the only path left to the west.

This is the beginning of a very dark period in Thai history

  14. I don't know. Let me check. Perhaps to counter the anti-Israel propaganda here. Could be.

Sent from my Lenovo S820_ROW using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Playing the victim as usual I see JT,

I don't think anyone is spouting anti-israel propaganda in the least, people are just pointing a few inconvenient truths and facts that's all, which quite frankly anyone who is not blinded Israeli apologist can see clear as day.

Supporting the right of the state of Israel to exist and defend herself is the OPPOSITE of playing the victim, mate. That is not the same thing as suggesting Israel is perfect now or has been in the past.

Exist on stolen land and defend by murdering Arab children - how good you must feel.

Yes they had co ordinate s of a hospital but hit it anyway ....they lie about reasons....

    Kill kiddies playing on beaches

Wipe out whole blocks of innocents ...they are shocking.

The latest lie they got caught out with today is their own intelligence agency said Iran was not near nuclear bomb ( or even refining enough in stage two) back in October 2012 ..while their leader tried to say otherwise.

They are morally indefensible when it comes to their actions of war crimes against the Gaza people.

  15. Aside from the audacity of a non elected government using that word, it's disturbing the references to Polls to justify curbing of free speech being necessary.

Firstly, it obvious that such polls do little to appease the international community or human rights groups that they refer to, nor even the broader community within Thailand .

Recent media articles both within and outside of Thailand reflect a growing dis-quiet about censorship and the freedoms being taken.

It's not for me to personally comment on what long term consequences will occur as a result of those curbs.

But please don't insult the intelligence of western media or the roughly 33.3% of readers here that are not mindless pensioners with Stockholm Syndrome cowering to their masters in some backwater upcountry or seedy residence in Pattaya.

The reality is North Korea uses these same polls to claim election results ....

Unless we start questioning such polls vigorously where possible and who is asked ?and who is asking ,? the sample of people and what demographic that come from?....

It's just plain silly to say such freedoms taken away by the ruling military are in deed favourable restrictions and approved by the so called people.

Try telling the US and UN this next they grill you over such things as detaining students or silencing critics.

Eventually , you just going to attract much further measures to plainly make you see internationally this stunt doesn't work .

It won't cut with the international community, or eventually your own outside of Bangkok.

Time is ticking ...and this is going to need addressing in the near future.

And when there are polls ( for real) observers may just want to see that they are free and fair and the elites haven't rigged them.

  16. economists gave the test, but the gov. composed the questions .

Something like that ...it's at best fiction.

They are so hopelessly out of their depth it's no wonder TS said just let them ruin things themselves.

    And ruin they will.

Every reputable international agency outside of the propaganda controlled country expects Thailand to struggle .

Their military rule alone is killing off growth.

No elections and time along with mismanagement will give them the same fate as the economy.

One opinion piece in a major unmentioned Thai English newspaper yesterday called it coward ness to prevent critical speech.

Certainly strong language .....the cracks in this dam are thick and now watery.

    Stay tuned.

As for the fools here that praise the economic management of Thailand under them it's pointless even replying to silly audacious ignorance.

Under TS Thailand enjoyed great growth that's plain a simple fact.

And sections of the Bangkok community that ironically protested to rid the political system of his sister now deeply long for those profitable days.

And now the economy might even face sanctions by years end given YS facing possible Jail and no elections on horizon.

Thailand is facing a perfect storm of economic mismanagement ...Ronald McDonald could do better.

The Happy meal routine in both organisations are wearing thin

  17. Every article I have read on Thai economy says its Tanking

Try reading about Australia or in particular Western Australia and find out what a tanking economy is.

    eg

currency down by around 25% against US$ , Thai baht steady against US$

mass retrenchments, Not in Thailand other than PTP

unemployment increasing Thailand is facing a labour shortage

That's a funny observation above , perhaps a bit gloomy?

But back to the Thai report ...of course some people simply don't get economics - anyone who does knows the Thai economy is in trouble.

As for Australia ....well lets compare

Whilst the Mining Boom over in Australia and the correction of the dollar has seen its value drop by 25% its hardly bleak news - Stocks are doing well.

Australia again enjoys highest median wealth out of all G20 countries (average $ worth)

    Hasn't had a recession in 23 years !

And still has growth forecasts .

Australia has a floating dollar so currency is expected to drift by 15% over two years .

But the boom ending and American recovery saw its worth long over due corrected.

To compare it to Thailand is at best vague on economics.

    Here's a reputable quote

On average the panel expects the slide in Australia's terms of trade to slow, losing only a further 3.6 per cent in 2015, but the average conceals a wide range from a further slide of 15 per cent to a lift of 7 per cent. None of the panel expects a dramatic recovery in the iron ore price. The forecasts range from a low of $US55 a tonne to a high of $US86.

The panel expects the Australian dollar to slide lower throughout the year, ending at US77 cents, which is about where the Reserve Bank is said to have long believed it should be. But again the range of forecasts is wide, from a slide to US69 cents (Steven Anthony) to a rebound to US86 cents (JP Morgan's Stephen Walters).

The panel expects the 2014-15 budget deficit to come in slightly worse than forecast at $43.8 billion. All expect it to fall the following year, to an average of $34.2 billion.

Much will depend on the strength of what the panel believes will be a tepid economy, on the Australian dollar, and on nominal gross domestic product, which drives government income. The panel expects nominal GDP growth of 3.7 per cent in 2015, an improvement on the 2.7 per cent recorded in the year to September, but still well down on the 9 per cent a year recorded in the mining boom.

  18. Thaksin has outsmarted these weekend warriors yet again. By keeping the Red Shirts off the radar and letting the Junta have complete and absolute control of the country without any organised opposition means that they will have no one but themselves to blame for their failures. The Thai ship of state is not to far away from resembling the Cost Concordia. The Junta are doing all they can to provoke a response from the Reds so they can pin the results of their own ineptitude on political interference from the Reds. This is going to end badly for those behind the coup, it will probably fast track the end of the elite control of the permanent institutions of state once and for all, until then, suffer in your jocks General.

It seems very much the case.

The current Government have been very much out flanked in all departments by chiefly their own doing .

It was always a case of just time.

And that time is approaching faster than expected with no road back for the elites .

The cracks are appearing to deepen .

Even mouth pieces of far right wing propaganda sources are moving further to the centre ( Nation )

    Division looms.

    International comments surfacing .

    Questions by UN

Demands by friends to hurry up processes .

And displeasure at military courts chasing up opponents .

The over all consensus is the beginning of the end is starting and the Thaksin family and majority of Thai people who support them seem well placed in the long run.

The deluded Government might think otherwise but Time will tell.

  19. It is good to see passion by students. It reminds me off the passion they felt when they were protesting arm in arm with the PDRC last year.

I am sure they do understand that early elections could well lead to bloodshed again by the fanatical 7%. What would be worse is when they do have the election and the PTP do not win due to their proven waning popularity the majorities vote won't be accepted and bloodshed will occur by the same 7% minority.

This is why reform is needed.

What planet are you on? It is clear to every man and his dog that the voting majority of Thais would elect a Thaksinite government if a free and fair election were held today, tomorrow or anytime after that. What logic do you base your astoundingly clueless assumptions on? Every single major international publication is in complete disagreement with your bizarre understanding of events taking place in Thailand, what possesses you so forthrightly expound such inanities, my guess - ignorance

The site here looses dozens of people a week while the propaganda fools pump out pro junta stuff.

Why bother even responding to them .?

    Better things to do
