The OP now has plenty of time to research various window films. I recommend 3M films. Concentrate on UV protection...helps with your eyes.... and lowers deterioration of fabrics and leather, and infrared heat transmission blocking. Consider 30% light transmission block for side windows and 20% for windshield and rear window. UV and Infrared blocking should be very significantly higher. We used the privacy 3M film and it is excellent.

Why would they do that? Old coffin dodgers living on the cheap should have insurance. Or go home.
Many of those "coffin dodgers" are self insured well beyond the limits required.

“They have also requested more details of the plan to use fees collected for attraction renovation and insurance benefits.“
So they’ll drop the requirement for Non-IMM OA insurance?

....and how are they checking the Chinese driving in over the northern border? Chiang Mai is filled with cars that have Chinese plates.

Hi Tracy, thanks much for your post. The deal here is that the new health insurance requirement didn't take effect till Oct. 31 2019.
I understand. I was trying to be responsive to your question about the banking requirements which I believe to have remained unchanged.
-
I extended my OA retirement in October. The bank letter was a day old and was accepted. I updated the bank book immediately before I went to CM IMM. Hope this helps the OP with the banking aspect of his post.

Yes, I agree. But this IO insisted that I get an additional document from my US bank stating that funds were transferred into my Thai bank account???
Try getting a copy of the Wire Transfer from the sending bank? Whoever made the transfer for you should have the advice from the bank. Just a thought!

Hmmmm, I thought “91” fuel was actually the same as E10 and that 95 had no alcohol. What say you all?

"Aircon units do not bring air into the rooms from outside. They circulate interior air."
Really? Do you know how a standard air-conditioning system works? Have you seen the outdoor unit on every balcony in Thailand? Where do you think the air comes from? There are filters in the wall mounted unit in the room which filters the cold air.
maybe you should do some research. Google is your friend!

Placing 3M Filtrete sheets on top of the internal air filter screens of the aircon helps to reduce the “dust” in your rooms. The sheets DO filter PM 2.5 particles. Replace the sheets biweekly. Cover only 80-90% of the filter to assist in increased airflow through them as the Filtrete sheets gather dust. Check them regularly and watch them turn grey....

Can the OP advise us if he has an O or an O-A visa as the basis I for his retirement extension, please? If O-A, was insurance required?

I understand that many folks have their reasons for criticizing the efficiency of various Immigration officers. However, I just have to say that during my recent trips to CM immigration I have seen more than a few “customers” act out in ways that seemed imperious, confrontational, unreasonable, and just plain ugly, not to mention their mode of dress. No wonder the officers who have to put up with this type of behavior on a daily basis strike back from time to time. Just sayin’.

They may want a one year statement to prove the 800k baht and 400k baht remained in the bank for required amount of time for a extension that was applied for after March 1st of last year.
Some offices are wanting a 3 month bank statement along with the updated bank book.
Thanks for that info! Appreciate it!

I haven't heard anything about a new queuing system.
The last time I did my 90 day report all that was required was my passport and the single 90 day report application form. No more photocopies of passport pages.
The whole process seems much easier now than it was at Promenada.
Thanks for letting me know!

Here’s a thought! Using rice straw to grow mushrooms. That might solve many problems at once! https://www.downtoearth.org.in/coverage/agriculture/straw-for-income-48452
-
Is there NO market for the “straw” and other remnants and byproducts of the harvest?
-
Does the IO require a 12 month statement if one uses the 800k deposit method or is the bank letter sufficient along with copies of the passbook?
-
1). Has anyone heard of....or experienced.... what some have reported as a new queuing system at CM immigration? Please provide first hand experiences.
2). Has anyone gone in person to do their 90 day report? What copies do they now require?
Thanks.

The answer to your question lies in the fact that Thailand is only interested in doing things if there is a "Public Relations" angle behind it. ........
I guess there is no Public Relations angle behind people dying of lung cancer and others choking and gagging in the streets, gasping for air.
I guess I'm just wasting my breath here..... and God knows I need to save it for "burning season"

No, we were legally married in Bangkok in '97.
Does the SSA consider that she is your spouse if you don't have a marriage certificate from the USA? Just curious if she will qualify for "Spousal" benefits after you passed on.

Should we presume that you are legally married in the USA?
