  1. At least 37 provinces have implemented entry restrictions yet the Nat’l govt has not banned travel.  Here’s part of a notice posted today by the US Embassy:

Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Bangkok, Thailand (April 12, 2021)

    Location: Thailand

Event: Inter-provincial Travel Restrictions Imposed in Various Provinces

Although the government of the Kingdom of Thailand has not officially banned inter-provincial travel, 37 provinces have announced entry restrictions and will require those seeking entry to either monitor their health or self-quarantine for 14 days.  The Ministry of Interior has published a Thai-language summary of provincial entry restrictions at http://www.moicovid.com.  This information will be updated in real-time.

Restrictions may be implemented with little or no advance notice and can include a thorough inspection of travelers, mandatory quarantines, or the outright prohibition on entry for non-residents.  These restrictions will make domestic travel between provinces increasingly difficult.

U.S. citizens are advised to consult relevant Thai government resources and media outlets to understand fully the requirements for entering the province(s) on a travel itinerary.   Local restrictions related to COVID-19 are changing quickly, so proactive planning is imperative.

  2. Your 90 day reporting period “calendar” resets on the day you obtain a new 90 day report.  You could, for example, report in for your 90 day report up to 14 days prior to the due date.  On the day you report for90 day report, your calendar resets and you become due again in 90 days.  In this case, if you do report 14 days ahead of schedule, your original report date expires and your new report date is 90 days hence.

Confused yet?  Just follow the due date on all 90 day report slips.  The 90 day report is not connected to extensions of stay.

Turbo Tax, TaxAct, free Fed tax file all sounds good. Looking for tax software that does all the forms including FATCA, etc. I'm not qualified for free versions and have to pay.  Moved out of high tax state to no income tax state. My taxes are straight forward with pension, 1099, INT.

TurboTax will accommodate your FACTA needs.  However, assuming you have more than $10k total in total on deposit at any number of bank or stock accounts you’ll need to file FBAR reports.  You can file FBAR reports yourself, online.  It’s easy.  I do mine every year.  Feel free to pm me if you want to discuss.

  4. Great idea!  Now vehicles will be able to scream into the cities so much faster that they’ll be able to sit in traffic for longer periods when they arrive!  Brilliant!!

Bonus for the police, too! Now they won’t have to make excuses for not stopping vehicles for speeding over 90 mph and handing out a ticket!  Sounds like a win-win!!

  5. Suggest you research various brands of film used for autos which may also be used for domicile windows. Various UV and Infrared light (heat) blocking specifications are available.  I would recommend installing on the interior facing side of the exterior balcony glass.  I used a very popular brand film on my west facing windows in a Bangkok condo with excellent results in heat blocking.
