Pacific Cross accepted my medical checkup info that was compiled at a private clinic in Chiang Mai. They told me as long as a doctor completed the form it was ok. The doc signed the form and provided certification (doctor's) number.

For those who recently secured their oa extensions in chiang mai using the 800k deposit method , can you please share if the io required you to return in 3 months to show your 800 k deposit ? After reading this chiang mai immigration forum,I recall no requirement to return to immigration in 3 months to show 800k, appreciate a confirmation for chiang mai immigration , thanks
I got my extension in CM in October using 800k and was not asked to return in three months.

Maybe we could get an app to monitor and report people burning their fields, crop byproducts, trash and plastic up here in Chiang Mai.

Woke up an hour late at 7:00AM to renew retirement extension expiring 17th. Fried and gobbled five jumbo Thai eggs, s___, s___, s___ in a flash leaving a few cuts, grabbed the TM 7, two bank statements and copy of passport, hopped on my Filano at 7:20 for the 24 km trip. Stopped at a local branch to update the fixed 800k bank book. Should have gone back home to make a copy. Arrived 8:00AM, queue R9 as R1 was in progress. Not so personal or friendly, unfamiliar faces, new rules making it tougher on us poor farangs, so anxiety level was high. Concentration also still impaired from brain damage suffered age 7-8 after my second Montana K12 principal decreed that I must die. At least he's dead by now and I'm outa Montana, thank God.
A couple of numbers had bailed, so mine came up early at 9:30. The IO berated me for not having a copy of the bank book and I thought I'd have to leave and come back, but he finally relented and made the copy himself. They do not like it when you don't have a copy of the bank book. I also had forgotten to copy the TM30. Have mercy on the walking wounded. Received my passport at 9:48. Blazed back home in time to meet TOT technicians who thankfully enabled my router for DDNS. Nothing can stop me now, hahahaha.
On the side, got the cataract in my right eye removed at Suandok a few weeks ago. Payment required up front, but was now able to catch a glimpse of Nancy's world. An American lady was giving the IO's a really rough time, complaining that the border officials had stolen her cell phone, etc., etc., then she targeted me until I managed to slip away. Major schizophrenia. Just how did she get there and how would she ever get back? I would have taken her under my wing but way too much on my plate these days. Better call Nancy?
Happy New Year All!
So was your renewal based on a non-o with no insurance reqd or......

I think the reasoning behind this is something to do with no money being required in the bank when you have the 'O-A' visa.
When using the 'O' visa based on retirement you need to deposit 800k in the bank then maintain a 400k Baht minimum balance all year around which is the exact same amount as the insurance coverage requirement.
The O-A visa extension, based on retirement, also requires 800,000/400,000 the same as the O extension based on retirement.

To which specific Pacific Cross plan are you referring, please? I am interested in going down the same route as you.
I purchased the Premier Plus with a 40K Baht deductible. PM me if you want more detail. ????

Are you a member of the State Department or did you join the organization they the say to use?
Except for waiting 14 days, and a minor issue with my Thai address, I had no issues with the online application.
I applied with the qualification of a sibling being employed by the state department. It should have been a slam dunk on the qualifying issue. In the meantime I've also read some reviews of SDFCU complaining about poor service. So, as I said.... I found other ways to meet my needs and ..... no grudges!

Surely you must have a clue about what the problem might have been?
They provided no reason. I met all of the qualifications they listed. Others have since told me they were unable to join using the on-line method, too. Oh well, it was no big deal for me as I found other means to take care of business without using SDFCU. Not holding any grudges. C'est la vie!

I have had an online SDFCU membership application in the works for 13 days now and it is still pending. I have submitted all required documents. Even phoning them does not help.
Good luck with that. I applied online too and after 30 days they told me my application was denied and gave no reason.

I want to confirm whether nor not CM IMM is requiring health insurance for ALL extensions of stay based on non IMM O-A visas, including those for marriage. Is that the case?
-
I was under the impression that ALL extensions of stay that are based on a Non IMM O-A visa, whether for marriage or retirement, required insurance. Is the “marriage” extension on an O-A exempt from that requirement?
-
When I read that comment on the FACEBOOK post I thought the poster was saying that IMM needed the letter that we get showing that we are the owner of the account, and the balance on the day, NOW needed a some words written in it that called out the balance for each of the last six months. I now understand that what the FACEBOOK poster was talking about is actually the 6 month bank statement that IMM now requires in addition to the letter.
I got my O-A extension of stay for retirement at the end of September this year and... IMM at that time required the six month statement of my (regular passbook savings) account. So apparently this is not a "NEW" new thing that popped up in the last few days but something that has been in place for several months now.
-
There was a report yesterday on a "Chiang Mai Expats" FACEBOOK posting about Imm now requesting a bank certification letter noting bank balance for the prior 6 months when using the 800,000 in the bank method for extensions.
Has anyone else heard of this change in requirements?
Here's a copy the posting...
Update as of today for those extending retirement visa for another year. New boss at immigration requires your thai bank letter (normally confirming the balance as of the issuance date of the letter ..example 17th dec 2019) to now be dated for a period of 6 months up to date of letter issue..example 17th july - 17th dec 2019. This is what we have just had to do today. Created some frustration as you can imagine! Check with immigration on your specific requirements before turning up. Saves a lot of bother. Just FYI, our visa lady nor the banks were aware of this change. We happily do whatever is required of us but there was a lot of confused people today. Hopefully it will be common knowledge at some point.

I obtained a TR visa abroad first. CW converted that to Non-B class. I have remained in the country on extensions ever since. I do have a visa... and many extensions.
You DID have a visa and now you have an extension....or as you say "many extensions!" (Just to be my pedantic self on this lazy Sunday afternoon ????)

My personal experience with Pacific Cross was excellent. I communicated directly with a company salesman in Bangkok via email and phone. I submitted all forms and reports by scanning completed forms and sending their PDF files via email. They required a physical and seven days after I submitted the results they offered me the plan I requested at the quoted premium without additional "mark-up." I was, as I expected, handed exclusions for items that I revealed on the application which I filled out honestly and completely. Nothing in the physical exam results affected the policy in terms of exclusions or increased premiums. I'm 68 years old.

Pattaya tries again to make drivers stop for pedestrians
in Pattaya News
Posted · Edited by Tracyb
In California not yielding to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.....or otherwise on the road, results in a US$400 fine and three points on your license. Those points result in major increases in insurance premiums...the gift that keeps on giving. Not surprisingly, pedestrians rule the crosswalks in California. Now, imagine Thais having to pay a 12,000 baht fine for failing to yield to a pedestrian. As for insurance and points, well it just doesn’t matter much in Thailand as most drivers have no insurance beyond the compulsory.
