No, you still need to do two tests. One in home country and another one in Thailand.

Being fully vaccinated doesn't mean you can't be infected  anymore (a common misconception among the uneducated) , it just means that the symptoms won't be as severe as requiring oxygen/ventilator to breathe.

I wonder what will happen if one is tested positive in Thailand? Will he be sent to hospital or send back to home country.

Sorry.  I was confusing it with domestic tourism flights which will no more require tests

I'll just give my idiotic opinion.

As soon as Thailand was affected by the UK strain and Indian strain and then reached 20K cases per day, there was absolutely no need to keep borders partially (almost fully) closed. The virus was going as strong here as in most of the rest of the world.

What's the worst that could have happened? Tourists infecting and already widely infected nation? Or getting infected by them...

What's the best that could have happened? Millions of people being relieved by foreign tourism coming back. Because international tourism has always been an important factor here. It helps hotels, restaurants, tour guides, national excursions, souvenir shops, electronic shops, any kind of shops, families in Issan (...), but even way more companies. Dtac and other phone operators have said their revenues went down because many of their customers were tourists buying sim cards and prepaid memberships. Taxis and overall transportation companies hurt as well, to the point that they are growing veggies on top of their car nowadays. Airlines suffered even more. And seriously, a lot more businesses were affected.

I wouldn't want to be in a government's shoes when it comes to human lives, but they clearly misread the situation here. The country is dying faster here without international tourism, despite Covid-19.

Keep social distancing, keep wearing a mask, keep your guard up against the virus. But also keep a rational mind regarding the welfare of the country as a whole.

Again, I might be completely wrong and my way of seeing things may have lead to an even worse situation. But I wish it was explored.

    …..and get more people vaccinated!

Well I got a response from  HCMC on Hang Dong Rd and I've been there before. They can set an appt. for me and get it done all in a day so I think I'll go that route. Maybe this info will help someone.

    Please elaborate.  What is HCMC?

  4. Wet markets in Chiang Mai and every other location will continue to spread diseases of all kinds until and unless officials require proper sanitation and disinfection of all food contact surfaces.  Maintenance of facilities to prevent infestation of flies, rodents and insects should become a secondary requirement to the proper washing and sanitizing of food containers and food display areas.

OBTW, when was the last time you saw a hand washing sink at a stall at a wet market?

  5. Faced the same situation here in Chiang Mai.   Went to IO to do 90 day report.  No issues.  They did, however, stamp my 90 day report slip with a one line notice that my extension would expire on : ——————— and they filled in the date.  Just a friendly reminder.  The 90 day report is, as we know, a reflection of our whereabouts for the previous 90 days.  Not a notice advising IMM that we’ll be here for the next 90 days!

  6. I’m considering a health policy from Healthcare International Insurance.  I don’t need it for an extended visa.  I just want to have some health coverage.  The rates look good and the coverage provided suits my needs.

Does anyone have experienced with this company?  Have you made claims or been admitting to hospital?  Did you experience any issues?    Would you recommend them?

Im not asking for info on alternative companies.  TIA.

That is a very valid point. When you read praise for Wise, it's often from the UK. There we can transfer funds into Wise in a matter of seconds. I can complete the whole process, on my mobile within 5 minutes and I always receive my funds the same day.

I understand that it isn't that simple from 'across the pond' and we don't have an 11 hour time difference plus 6 times zones to contend with in the UK. It's bound to make a difference.

I xfer from USA and it takes seconds when I use ACH and do NOT select funds for long term visa

  8. My experience with Wise is significantly different from the OP’s.  I transfer USD to BKK bank on a regular basis.  When I choose “funds for long term stay” it usually takes a day and always arriving around 2pm the following banking day.  If I choose funds for monthly expenses, etc., the funds are credited within seconds, provided I’m initiating the transfer on a regular banking day within normal banking hours here in Thailand. I always use ACH transfer to move the USD to Wise.

Perhaps the OP can provide more detail regarding how he chooses to move the money to Wise.
