I doubt migrant workers from Myanmar have spare money to pay bribes.
The bribes are organized by the agents getting them work, and the money is taken from their wages.

If a lockdown is inevitable, then the way to go should be a tier system like in the UK.
Usually when someone virtue signals all this concern for all the people who can't work, etc. , what they really mean is that they are upset because they're local bar will be shut down.

Apparently 485000 people die each year from drinking contaminated water something which could be solved with concerted effort at least that's what we are being told.I can rely on that.In ten years 4.85 million dead.Imagine the lives that could be saved if we put as much effort to save the vulnerable, the elderly, the young and the healthy as we have been for this virus.

Yes, but this is a topic on covid.
Your argument is called the logical fallacy of false equivalence.
False equivalence is a logical fallacy that occurs when someone incorrectly asserts that two or more things are equivalent, simply because they share some characteristics, despite the fact that there are also notable differences between them.

I'll take my chances. At age 63 and in good shape (a tiny bit obese, but round is a shape, haha) and more importantly living a healthy life and without a challenged immune system, there is little to fear.
Also living in South Isaan with no social distancing nor face masks anywhere, helps to keep the Covid-madness out.
A Merry social XMas and a Happy unmasked NewYear for everybody!
Obesity increases risks of complications and death from covid, and by definition means that you are not in good health.

Unless you have conducted your own vaccine field trials involving thousands of people and millions of dollars in cost, I think you will have to rely on what you are told...

Most people that come on holliday do not have the privelage to stay more then 30 days so don't realy need those extra 15 days . These kind of idea's can go straight in the garbage . If they want people that can stay longer periods of time to cime back again they have to come up with other ideas , maybe not those stupid 800k or 400k packages or people jumping threu hoopes to get a some kind of legal ED or voulanteer . And making the elite visas more expensive also doesn't realy work because the people that can realy afford those will just buy one so they can get in and out whenever they want during that period , most of them getting the elite aren't staying here that whole stretch just buy it because of the convenience not having to go thru whatever hassle they have to go thru with other solutions .
I know a lot of people who come on extended holiday and 45 days will definitely be a big help. You need to look beyond the people on the left and right of the Nana Plaza barstool you're sitting on, and maybe see there are many people with the means for extended holidays.

They still haven't worked out that the vast majority of potential tourists will not come if there is any sort of quarantine, though I will admit that it is, for once, a logical suggestion.
Of course, anyone who can see more than 1 cm past their nose can figure out that the quarantine won't last forever, and that this is a measure to kickstart tourism once the quarantine is lifted.

No, when thailand has vaccinated enough people and achieved herd immunity, it will be safe to allow other vaccinated people to enter without quarantine. For better or for worse, thialand has adopted a virus eradication strategy as opposed to a containment strategy, and domestic vaccinations are required for this strategy to continue to be successful.

Nobody is "stuck" outside. There is a clear path for anyone who wants to work through the process and the quarantine and associated costs. I know of many who have done it. It's a choice to stay outside.

Yes, I'm sure a good portion of those avoiding the vaccine will be persuaded over time assuming that there are no indications of serious safety issues with the many millions getting it during the earlier phases. Of course if there are serious safety issues that are revealed, then that will be a big problem. On the other hand, there are already multiple vaccines that are going forward, so there could be a safety issue with one and that could be dropped without too much damage.
I disagree. All of the vaccines that anti-vaxxers currently won't take have been around for many, many years and have been fully vetted for safety. All that will happen is that anti-vaxxers will troll the conspiracy websites, as they do now, and will find enough nonsense there to suit their confirmation bias.

Hey Keyboard warrior,
I was referring to the ridiculous prices they are charging for one way flights and ASQ rooms. I said nothing regards the quarantine, except from my point of view having to do it in both countries, for business that would take two days, now made it price prohibitive.
Read first and don't put your own ' spin ' on it nor jump on your keyboard to try and unleash your brand of righteousness.
Also, if you aren't testing the public, you aren't going to get an accurate result on infections, whichever country it is. It has already been made known that some of these soldiers and diplomats who tested positive picked up the virus within Thailand's borders.
Your business can't be that important if you can't afford 3k a night for quarantine hotels.

I gained retirement extensions years ago via Non-O method and I have multi entry permit through to July 2021.
Now, I have to do a Covid19 test within 72 hours of flight from Bangkok to Phnom Penn.
Whether I go via Seoul or Singapore it is a 23-24 layover for next flight. Cambodia is no longer allowing a solo businessperson to self isolate after the first day if all on the plane are clear which means 14 day isolation in a Phnom Penn hotel at your own expense. Also, there is the further Covid19 checks at the airport and the $3000 deposit.
Then a taxi from Phnom Penn to Siem Reap and then after completing my business, we start all over again coming back to Thailand with Covid tests, fit to fly docs, COE, ASQ hotels, 14 day quarantine, I would not stay anywhere but a good class hotel if I am to be locked for 14 days in either country, so you are at 60,000 baht x2 at least for hotels.
A one way flight via Seoul is 22,000 baht, and about 14,000 via Singapore.
I estimated this trip would cost around at least 7,000 GBP and more, taking all things into account such as tests, flights, good hotels, taxis.
I think my business will have to wait.
It is just ridiculous. It normally would be around 400 GBP all in.
What is ridiculous? Its the reality of the world we live in right now. Europe decided to throw open its borders to save the summer holiday period and now is in almost complete lockdown. Should Thailand go into another lockdown in order to facilitate your business trip?

Your odds of dying every time you get in your car is 0.0000366%. You are 11,000 times more likely to die from corona than getting into you car today. Would you get into your car if you were told that today you are 11,000 times more likely to die?
Also, cost of opening the borders is much higher than keeping them closed. Just look at the almost complete lockdown in Europe now because they wanted to save their summer tourist season.

Same old BS who do these people think they are fooling the Thai economy is on a cliff edge all we have heard for the last 4/6 months is the Chinese are on there way and what did we get 36 Chinese so called tourists that wouldn’t have even covered the flight crews salaries ,these people need to get real there are millions of Thais without work the islands are decimated all you see is signs for rent and the shutters down ☹️☹️☹️☹️
Thailand's economy is not on a cliff edge. Of course, the tourism industry has been decimated, but the rest of the economy is fairing ok compared to the rest of the world.
"On a seasonally-adjusted quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP declined 9.7% in Q2 from the previous period's 2.5% fall."
This puts Thailand in about the top third of the world in terms of least economic impact - in the same ranking as the Netherlands and the US. Once travel resumes at a somewhat normal level, the tourism industry will recover, and hopefully at a more sustainable level.
As being seen in Europe now, which is almost fully under some type of lockdown, the cost of opening up for tourism is far outweighed by the cost of partial or full lockdowns.

So many hate filled posts. Nigel Farage has his finger truly on the pulse of the British people. He was bang on the money about the eu and has and still is fighting hard for it, he highlighted the lies being told about illegal immigration, coast guards picking them up and then the taking of them to 4* hotels that the government were quietly booking for 6 month to a year in advance and now the farce of Covid. He is a voice that will hold the governments feet to the fire with their lies and smudged figures their twisting all. Thank god we have Nigel and others speaking up.
British sarcasm is always the best.

Because it is a sign that you're willing to blindly obey and submit to all government edicts.
Just like here on TV. It's easy to sort the blindly obedience lap dogs from the independent wolves. And we do scare the stuffings out of the lap dogs who all but piddle when they see those of us who see though this economy destroying, society killing, cultural destruction in the name of what will now be a seasonal flu. You people really, truly want to live under a totalitarian rule because you believe that your leaders will keep you safe - you people are ill but it has nothing to do with a pathogen.
The classic Milgram study and the Zimbardo Prison experiment are examples of where unquestioning conformity leads you people. You're treading down the path to Hell with pitchfork in hand while attempting to herd all others down the path with you.
And no. I'm not wearing a d**n mask to make you feel safe.Just relax. Wearing a mask doesn't mean they are coming into your bunker to take your AR15s away from you. Not wearing a mask doesn't make you a wolf, just an a**hole.

Sweden solved the problem by ignoring it.

People don't yet see the issues that the lockdown will cause. Countries which have been stupid will suffer for generations.
Generations? A little over the top, dont you think? Economic recovery will be in a 2 to 5 year time frame, as we've seen with other economic shocks.
Sweden is currently imposing restrictions because herd immunity has not really worked, and they have not really escaped the economic impact of the virus, despite not initially imposing lockdowns.

You should try to understand cause and effect. Death rates are down BECAUSE of lockdowns. People who get their information from memes and dodgy alt-right websites don't seem to ever be able to make that huge leap of understanding.
