Will the Swiss Expat be allowed to stay in Thailand or not?
Let's see who have it right.Difficult to forecast. On balance I think he will probably stay.

An utter farce, based on a vote-buying promise made without any idea as to how it would be financed. Question now is how will the loan be re-paid ?

The article suggests that the park started seven years ago so perhaps seven years of successful operation provides his income? Perhaps the money for the villa and his cars was allocated before his savings were exhausted, perhaps the cars are financed?
Perhaps, but the villa is rented, and the flights could not have been pre-paid. Certainly a rather extravagant life-style based on people bathing with, and taking pictures of, a few elephants.

The American judicial system is very, very broken. Had he not had $5 million dollars to spend on a legal team back then he would have been found guilty. Any American can get away with virtually any crime if they have enough money to throw at a great legal team. It's just the way the system is built.
Understood, however, if I was found not guilty in a criminal court only to be later found guilty in a civil court I may feel somewhat aggrieved, and somewhat reluctant to fork out 30m plus US dollars.

Methinks you are right. No need for a tediously long report.

I well remember, many years ago, during my first experience of Songkran, a lady in traditional dress approaching me in Lumpini and asking if she could pour a small amount of water on my wrists, and having done so wishing me good luck and a happy new year, with a lovely smile. Happy days...

Overworked and underpaid? Too many more important tasks at hand?
Is the scene in England got that bad that this is accepted as normal?
Things in NZ are quite bad too but a response is normally quicker, unless it's something like burglary, theft or damage. Then forget about seeing anyone.
But anything involving domestic violence or weapons brings a rapid response.
Poor lady. Hope the catch the fiend.
The London Met are too busy trying to find hate crimes on the internet than to be concerned about murder.

Mum was right. I was given the same advice. But proof reading on any site is almost unheard of in today's fast moving digital world (BTW, take a look at the spelling of your second word and the failure to capitalize your second "I"). Just sayin'.
Second word looks ok to me.

For many years Thammasat has been the source of radical thinking in Thailand, and many of it's students have paid the ultimate price without ever achieving change, up to now...

LOL, The Teflon Don....Nothing sticks on him!
I sense he is over-estimating the power of his wealth and may well find himself back in exile yet again. The ruling establishment don't take kindly to people like him.

I would add if Dave's wife had kept her mouth shut he would be in better shape. She antagonised Tarndao to the extent that there are now 2 Thai women at each other's throats which, as many of us know, is not a pretty sight. Having said that, Dave's action was that of a thug and he deserves all the trouble he is now in.

I wonder why most people even do this, it is not needed at all, unless you never leave the country at all. Even then: 1400 baht fine.
People need to stop being sheep and just live life. I never been hassled even I don't listen to their rules.
Stop being sheep ? Ridiculous comment. Get to CW earlier. Last 90 day I was no.16 and out by 0915hrs. Equally easy for my annual extension, last time out by 1115hrs. Never ever had any hassle since first arriving in Thailand in 1962.
