Strange that this should pop up just now. I find myself in the same position. Was mentally composing my thoughts for a call to my attorney. I have been wheelchair bound for a number of years, as some of you know. But I recently had the misfortune of having a leg amputated. Each year I usually go to KL to get another Non Imm B Visa. I go by myself and with the assistance of air staff, have no difficulty with the transportation portion and the hotel staff are just great and do help with the KL land portion of the journey. But now the new obstacle. With a missing leg, it is really dicey getting in and out of the wheelchair as well as balance and other difficulties keep popping up. Dr. sez that it will take some months before I would be able to get an artificial leg. All this gives me some pause and a bit of fear in going on a journey like this. I will follow this thread to see if any other program or alternative is reported.

I think I heard her call me this last month คุณผายลมเก่าโง่ which according to Google translate comes out something like you silly old fart.
Good to read the post from so any young whippersnappers. Now heres some advice from a mature senior. My wife is just about 35 years younger than me, and things are just great as they have been now for almost 20 years. Even with the fact of me having some health difficulties of late ( seem to have misplaced one of my legs.... let me know if you see one walking around) Life is just great cepting for one thing seems to worry me a bit...... I think she seems to be slowing down a bit.

But, for those of you who may say this forum is dead, I say, respectfully: excuse us if we necrophiliacs party-on rather than contribute to the obituary.
This entity finds the forum useful, and enjoys it.
cheers, ~o:37;
p.s. could someone PM me and tell me what the disturbing reference to Tywais in this thread is about, thanks !
To me Tywais was one of the originals and on top of that is one of the super nice guys. It greatly saddens me that he is not involved. any longer

I am a long time member on this forum but have been less involved more recently than I had previously been. It is good to see all the new names and members, but I have found a startling fact , at least to me. Where have all the oldies gone; the old long ago members, who like myself, on for years and years? I know some have passed on and some have moved back home or wherever, but so many missing old familiar names leaves me with a little ache inside. So sad.

Sorry to do this, but seems the only way of reaching you as I have misplaced your name and contact details. To the person who was kind enough to stop by last week and asked a serious question. Please stop by or get back to me as I may have an answer for you. I seem to recall your name being Ken or Kenny

Be happy to see you atecom. We are the Pun Pun at 321 Charoenrat Rd. by the Rama IX Bridge ..... the original..... Been Pun Pun for 34 years before the interlopers came along and everyone wanted to be a Pun Pun. No definite close by date has been set so open til further notice. Arrangements have to be made and I must say that being in a wheelchair has been difficult but being in a wheelchair and having lost a leg is close to impossible. As a long ago advertiser on Thai Visa we gave a 10% discount to TV members . Still do so don't forget to mention you are a TV'er. Thank you for your kind thoughts and words

The mind surely is a funny thing. A couple days ago, out of the clear blue, the old song, "The Gambler", by Kenny Rogers popped into my mind. Thats the one where a particular line goes, "you gotta know when to hold em, and know when to fold em" Well now it does hit home for me.
For those of you who know me, will know that I haven't been posting as much as had been normal for me. The reason being some health issues. Not so serious in the past, but seemingly much more serious now. ....and after holding and being a very special home for over 22 years, I have to make the decision to fold-em, and shut down The Pun Pun. Yes, this does sadden me greatly.
The main reason for this post is to inform all of those past and more inportantly, present TV members who grace us with ther patronage, that we will be getting out of The Pun Pun in the not so distant future. Also thank you Thai Visa, of which I was a sponsor for a time, for sending many of its member to our restaurant. Again thank you all. If anyone out there is looking for a very, very special home , think of us.
Thank you one and all.

Having been out of things for the past month, I return to find that they have done something with the free-to-air TV signal. Now you are supposed to buy some kind of box or something. Now not talking about cable but rather the aerial/antenna type of reception. Can't seem to get any answers. Can anyone out there write some information? Thanks Heaps

Is Gonzo's Pun Pun still open? Not vegetarian, but good hearty fare.
Hey UG
You still in SoCal or back here??
You want, I will make you a good deal on buying The Pun Pun. You can open up a E Book Shop with it. My old bones are about ready to call it quits.
Oh and Pun Pun must be successful, as I see them everywhere today, much like 7 Elevens.

Is my A/C working extra hard or did we have [and still having ] a very rapid temperature drop in the past hour or so? Better look by the river to see if an iceberg has floated in.

Well just as a way of update to and for anyone that the shoe may fit. What I really have to rave about here, in Thailand and hopefully convey and impart to others or to anyone who is a health basket case like yours truly, I just got back from a few days in the hospital. As I may have mentioned I am and have been for some years now a diabetic. One of the maladies of this disease is that it can cause ones veins and arteries to contract, not allowing sufficient blood to reach your extremenities. Well thanks to the very special doctors and nurses a balloon was inserted into my leg from my groin to my foot. My foot does hurt a bit from a diabetic ulcer that was the reason for having this done , but not a smidgen of ache or pain from the operation. My fellow TV Members, it is not a guesthouse restaurant I am promoting, its the health care system here. All of the above including meds and all and I did not pay one baht. Thats what I can only urge you to look into. If you have some sickness or other malady, please for the sake of those who love you , look into it for yourself.
Thanks again to all who responded to this thread.

A lot of people showing respect and appreciation here. Too bad the waters have been muddied by those who know nothing about the first post and others lacking civil communications skills.
All the best and many thanks Gonzo.
Sent from my iPod touch using Thaivisa ConnectThanks for the kind words and thoughts Bill. Yes I too have noticed that while vast majority of posters are fine, good, and well intended , there are always a few with a no matter what you say , will have some smart *** comment. To the poster that did inquire , I did respond and did not intend for the message to have a "bogus" tel number. Even though I reread the message I did not catch the fact that I had transposed two of the numbers . While I do not stay on this forum constantly as do some, I did get your message and did return PM and correct the error. Sorry for all your health problems, but as I surely know its part of life.
Again I do feel a large amount of warmth in my heart for all the kindness put forth by the vast majority. Sincerely thank you one and all

More details on this "health card goldmine" would be interesting
To answer those asking this or similar questions....if you're sincerely interested stop by The Pun Pun and we can chat back and forth. By its nature its not something one cane readily do by typing back and forth.

To try and clear up the last couple posts. To the facts as I have been told by the land owner, The Pun Pun has been here approx 34 years now. The first 12 years had 8 different owners. I did buy the business from John and Dang Moore [ and baby Demi ] just about 22 years ago now. I have been at this time at The Pun Pun location longer than at any other location I have lived in all my life. It has become a part of my soul and my heart is breaking knowing it is time to move on. With my own health difficulties I do sincerely hope that I can find someone with health problems of their own, to take over and receive the health card goldmine , as I have been able too.

For some reason I seem to not be as active with this forum as I once was. In checking in I was somewhat amazed to see the number and nature of the replies. To all of you who took the time and effort to make comment and express your kind thoughts and opinions,,,,, a great big THANK YOU. To answer some of the questions and maybe perceived implications, no I have not been given any date of expected departure, from this life, other than from my own bones telling me that it is closer now than ever before. Its just that now getting older and feeling it, I think that it is time for me to get my better half back over the border to the north so she will at least have the comfort of being able to have her family close by, which is highly restricted here. Good lord willing I will have enough time to get something set up for her that will greatly help sustain her and her family for their future years. She is a very special person to me and one of the most naturally gifted people I have ever met in my life. She has some very desirable innate abilities to learn and absorb, and she has done just that. Now to get her to a place where she is able to put that into practice.
Our hopes would be to move north to the border where we can still maintain our much valued Thai Social Medical Health programs and still be somewhat freed up of the current governmental restrictions. Thats another story, but I felt I owed it to somewhat explain to all of you who have been so kind to us over the years. Again just let me say to all of you, if you know of anyone out there, even if they have preexisting health conditions, and particularly if they are American with their back home health care costs, please contact me or have them do so. If they can get into the Thai Health care system, it can literally be a gold mine for them. I would love to impart that information. Enough of that . Once more to all of you....... you are and always will be my friends and the biggest most heartfelt thank you for your support over the years. THANK YOU- 13

Much as I never thought the day would come..... It Done Come .After 22 great years, the time has come to leave The Pun Pun. The feeling I have inside could not be any more hurtful if one had lost one of their children. But father time and he who assigns all health conditions, has knocked on my door, and made me see the ways of time.
If you know of anyone who may be interested in a home/job situation like no other, please have them get in touch with me.But the reason I put this here is for all the friends and acquaintances I have and have met thru Thai Visa after all these long years, THANK YOU. To those who have come by as guests and become friends ....THANK YOU. ...... and THANK YOU Thai Visa for the hours and hours of back and forth, and banter, and , yes argumentative times as well. Wishing you all well and all the best.

With regards to the Thailand :Lottery, does anyone know if they have a website where you are able to put in the lottery date and your ticket number and it would tell if that ticket number has any winnings. I have a situation where I am not able to check all the numbers at the time of each drawing and would prefer not having to go through all the hundreds on numbers in different categories. Some time ago there was some site like 6 in a row or something like that.
In other words just plug in your number and the drawing date and get your answer , yes or no
Thanks

Well the lazy mans question just came up again. Does anyone know of a Lottery website showing the winning numbers for a given date, NOT just all the winning numbers, but also has a little block that you type in your ticket number and it comes right back with yes or no from all the categories. Saves a lot of time and is not subject to ones propensity to make a reading error as much. There used to be such a site, I just can't find it or remember it.

This is something that may give a person pause for thought.
I can make a telephone call to the US, halfway round the world, and it costs me 4 baht per minute.
I make a call to Myanmar, country right next door maybe 300 Kl's and it costs me 32 baht per minute.
Now I am not interested in international agreements and the such, what I would like to know is how the phone companies justify this?
