I am a retired small business owner and don't know how you guys will survive this... my heartfelt sympathies for sure... to lose all of your customers through no fault of your own is just not fair...

So, CM - where? And are you still allowed to be open? I don't go out much but seems all is shuttered. And are those egg rolls for the public too? How can I get some?

PM me if you cannot post here..

Thank you KenK24....& just to dangle the carrot... I just came in for the evening snack and my very special wife had another 4 left over from the earlier batch.  They were every bit as delicious as the earlier snack....maybe even better.  I'll drop you a pm later on or in the morn on how to contact me.   I don't feel right giving my places name or contact details on or in a post, as I used to be a sponsor on this forum. I don't hold it against others doing that, but its not right for me to say it. Hope to see you in for a eggroll/springroll soon.   C U

  2. Just need to get this off my chest and see if any other business owners would care to comment.... or any others who would want to have a say.

I have to say I have never seen or even dreamed of conditions like today,  with this worldwide virus thing.  A number of you know of me and my business in CM.... or I should say lack of business here in CM,  This lockdown along with certain other factors that have been imposed by the powers that be,  have wiped out any and all semblance of a business.  Since the beginning of this month, I have had 2 customers, on two seperate days.  To make that fully correct, the same customer on two different days.  People are out and about, but no one stops in or even calls for a take-a-way order.  Unlike all others, with the exception of Trump who knows everything, we don't have any idea how long this will last.   I have been here at my business for 24 years now and am seriously thinking about just shutting it down.  Have no idea about what I would do other just play with the computer, but can only do so much of that before going nuts, which I must be already pretty well along the way.  Just need to vent a little.   Are there any others , in business or whatever, who would like to vent along with me ???  Pile on and lets vent and comiserate and maybe we all can/will feel not so alone in this boat.  PS I just ate some of Ms Gonzos Egg rolls and they were terrific.  I'll pay and then you can read 3 customers now.

Pile on gang !!!!   Thanks for listening.

  3. Interesting update.. Let this be notice to any of you have one or two of these cats around the house.

I see a report in the USA Today newspaper today that a tiger or two has texted positive for the virus at the Bronx Zoo in New York.  I was told that they wanted to talk to the animals trainer, but he couldn't be found.  The cats only reply was a very long Buuuuurrrrpp.

So I guess that it can and does have a positive effect on the big pussy cats.

  4. Is the government issuing some form of utility rebate due to the virus made conditions?

Two people have mentioned hearing about something like this.  Any cumments?

Perhaps just 15 trucks with sand in it on their way to a construction site? My wife needed 80 truck loads to fix up some land before.
As well Nim transport is not that far located from there, 15 trucks is nothing for them with the lazada goods etc alone.

Why would you be bothered anyway? Not that special at all.

Why would you be bothered if I am bothered or not???   Do not unusual things arouse your curiosity??  ... or are you only curious when you can make an un-needed comment on a forum for a few seconds of self A grand-ize-ment.

  6. Those of you who know me know that I am over on Charoenrat Rd.  So far since early this morning there have been about 15 or more huge trucks each pulling a second identical trailer behind  going from South to North in front of my place.  Each trailer is carrying what seems like a huge shipping container. Like you see at shipping ports. One to each trailer.  They are also almost completely tarp covered. That would total about 30 containers so far this morning.  They appear to be heavily loaded as the ground shakes and vibrates when they go by, and that is rarely felt.

Anybody know what is going on in this neighborhood?  Or what could be inside them?  Maybe some industrious individual is backing up and hoarding toilet paper.  Anybody have any thoughts?

    Thanks

  7. Something I haven't seen and please tell me if you have.

Many folks with pets, dogs, cats etc, are very huggy and loving with them.   The question.... can they be carriers of the Corona Virus?

If they can, maybe they should not go to restaurants either.

  8. In reading this mornings Bkk Post Online there are 2 articles on egg prices.  One talks about possible egg price gouging and the other talks about a big slump in prices.   Very confusing.  Which is the correct story?

  9. Well let me give you some first hand input cuz I went down to Prom with a friend at 7:30 this A.M.  A REAL FUN DAY  ! !  Got down there at approx 7:45.  There were maybe 50-75 people already on post.  About half hour later nsomeone announced that they wee4 closed and all should ngo to the Immigatioin by the airport.  This annoyed me as I had earlier if the Prom was the one to go to.  Being assured it was we got there reasonably early.  Well we then proceeded to Airport Immigration.  Upon arrival there we found somewhere like 300 or so people in line and under some tents out by the front.  Struggling for a parking spot we eventually got inside the door and asked as assistant volunteer where to do what we wanted which was the 90 day report.  He did go to the counter which I now saw had a clear plastic sheet hung from the ceiling to maybe 2 feet below the front of the service counter all the way from the left wall to the right wall...maybe 100 feet in distance.

He returned to tell us that this was no longer ddone at this office and we had to go to  Prom....  Of course we said we just came from there, but only tell us that if we wanted to file th4e3 90 Day report .... then  go back.....  We did only to find the4 mall now open and at the Immig office upstairs along long line of several hunded happy happy folks....

At this point I had serious thoughts of moving out of Thailand.   Needless to say we were not happy campers at this point.

    More to c

  10. Need a quick but also correct answer from those that are sure..   I know its been stated before but I don't know in which thread it was.   I have now been given 3 different answers and would like to know which one is correct , if anyone knows.  With regards to the Immigration 90 day filing and doing it in person.... which location is this report being currently done.  I havea been told , 1) still at the Immigration by the airport, 2) now done at Meechok/Ruamchok Plaza, 3) out at Promenada.  Which one is correct.  Thank you for a speedy answer as I have a guest waiting for the answer.

  11. W O W   ! ! !   I have never seen it so bad.  Looking out my window and down the street maybe 100 mtrs its just obvious the smoke and haze like never before and I've been here almost 30 yrs.  Gonna be big problems soon if something is not done about it.   World's worst ???  Be another new record breaking our old one soon.  Government better start thinking about the  good of the people first.  Doing something not just saying something that makes it look like you are doing something !

  12. ?   Given the fact that supposedly all officials work for the citizenry.  Traffic on and around the city is just too much, horrible congestion.  The citizenry and guests, foreign and/or local have to put up with this problem if and when they use road transportation.  It is the duty and responsibility of officialdom to try and fix this congestion problem. Those using road transportation have to face the slow down.  Then why should the folks whose responsibility is to fix the problem and don't seem able to do so ... get to have a flashing red light escort thru the traffic problem.  Its the little people (those paying the bill and are supposedly the boss') who get the brunt of the problem, while the workers ( the govt officials who should fix the problem) get the benefit escort.  Why !!!

    Ans.  This is Thailand.

Agreed. That did get my attention, but also shows forward thinking in their part.   They will have my greater attention when all their hair falls out.

I think they are copying well known fashion influencer Marge Simpson, also noticed plenty of ex pats who seemed to have modelled themselves on Homer Simpson wandering around CM.

    Thought that name sounded familiar.

  16. The craze has expanded..... just this morn, down at Lanna Hosp., in the waiting area, a mature and a bit heavy woman about 45 - 50 years old, with black roots a couple inches long, then topped of with PINK hair.   Yahoo ! ! !

  17. I know that I don't get out and about as much as I used to, but is there a new craze happening???

About two weeks ago I saw a guy who visits the condo complex next to me and he had blue hair!!   ...and I mean bright blue!  I thought it weird, but its his hair.  About 4 - 5 days later I then saw a  another guy and his hair was blue. One was Thai the other Falang, with no apparent connection.  The next week another, a girl this time,  rode by on a bicycle and she had blue hair.  I thought that was very weird.  Then yesterday the ultimate.  I saw an older woman, she must have been in her 60's at least .... and blue hair!  Strange, not all blue but about a hands width from the scalp blue starts and goes to the end.  All of them this way...  Is there some kind of cult around or is the circus in town?

  18. Heres hoping that Punxsutawney Phil has a great day.

I wish that he was in Chiang Mai right now.  Clear with bright sunshine.

    Who knows.???... Da Shadow Doo.

Confused???   ... remember Google is your friend.

    Carry on Phil

  19. For those of you who remember Spike Lee ande company being in CM last year to shoot a movie about Vietnam veterans, Well I have it that the movie should be coming out in about 6 weeks.  I am eager to see it as 2 weeks of the shoot was here at my place, & I was even included in a small bit.  The 2 weeks that I was closed and that they were here was truly a once in a lifetime experience.  I've lived for quite a while and have seen many things, but this period was just something else.  I know some of my friends have an interest in seeing the movie and are eagerly awaiting the release.  They were shooting here in CM last March.
