Did you consider the shops at Panthip Pz. ???  I was told they were all closed a couple weeks ago.

About 2 years ago there was a big bru-ha-ha about guesthouses in Chiang Mai renting rooms by the night.  Having been a good little boy and law abiding, and having rented rooms in my guesthouse by the night for 20 + years , I couldn't understand this decision to no longer be able to do nightly rentals.  Granted, they said I could do monthly rentals but not nightly.  Knowing that rooms had been rented in CM for what... 50, 75, 100 years or more, I was at a loss to understand.    At the time I could see other guesthouses run by Thais doing nightly rental.  There was some stink about this policy but it died down .

Needless to say this greatly impacted my room and restaurant business .  I hear that this policy did go by the wayside. but does anyone know if guesthouses are able to do nightly rentals today or not?  Todays virus problem has indeed had an impact on the tourism industry,  but are guesthouses today doing nightly rentals in Chiang Mai???  I ask this very seriously and would like sensible replys.  Thanks, Gonzo

For information sake Lomsak, Luc and Ahm sold out a couple years ago now,  the new owner, a falang, & Thai wife were running the place until he passed away a bit ago.  I just found out the other day that the place has shut down and Thai wife has relocated to Bangkok. This is word on the street not gospel.

Hard to believe that a lot more cannot be mentioned.  Come on gang..... put a little effort into helping some who may not be aware of some of the closings and will be wasting a trip.  Thanks TV-ers.

Just to clarify. I don't mean closed due to the virus situation, but rather closed the business down for good....  out of business.

What do you see and hear regarding this question.

Talking now about the greater Chiang Mai area.   Most of us know, especially those of us in business for ourselves, that things have not been as good for the past couple years, and now the added on Covid-19 problem.

What business' in the CM area do you know about that have closed down?  I would like us to list those that we know of , but please if it has been mentioned lets try and not repeat them.  Shocking to me was the old line guest house The Hollanda Montri...closed.

I think it would be interesting to see the list.  Post if you know...... just for the past two years

This will sound crazy I know, but there is no program.  Its just our regular menu , which is quite a few pages, and what started with just one or two individuals who wished to pick certain items off the menu and asked about taking them home.  They knew that we do a frozen back up as we are not a high volume place.  It may show as a full meal on our menu but they did not want the vegetables , say, but rather the main item,  They order them if we do not have them already frozen and pick up a day or two later, take them home frozen and put in their own freezer to get when hungry.  We are not a rip off place and wouldn't be here this long if we were.   If you have a chance, stop by and we can go over the menu together, find out what you like and give you a price.  People seem to like our food and some have been coming back for over the 24 years we have been here.  I don't want to post a phone number cuz I think there are rules against that, but you can Google up that information.  Thank you for your interest and I hope to see you in the near future.

Thanks for the very kind words John.  Must also say that you have been a very kind and loyal guest here for I believe more than 10 years.  Seems to be a good program that we have.... you know your stock reserve, you make your order and thanks for giving us a bit of a notice, that way we can make it fresh for you, and one or two days later you pick up your package.  Some day I will go back and see how many chicken pies you have eaten in the past 10 years. Got to be a record of some sort.

I do want to say thank you for your patronage especially in the rough times currently.  Helps us out immensly and keeps you from too many trips in the cruel outside world.  Thank You. .... and if you know of any others who may be interested in joining the program, please let them know about it.  Thanks and stay healthy

Even folks with less than half a brain know the difference between a hot dog/frankfurter and Sausage.  We have SAUSAGE  both links or patty.

We do get a little from there but there are 3 places other than us , all within a hundred yards.  Hope to see you again and soon.
