What was the context of bringing up 711 workers? Were you trying to imply she work there which would be impossible without a University degree. Best to be extra cautious as this is a very difficult time for Thais and many are at the breaking point. One year ago she may have laughted and kissed you.

Rather than studying and admitting that the sandbox has not worked as planned and learning from their mistakes they would rather move the goalposts and pat themselves on the back in a face saving manner. Thai leadership in action.

Xtrafly I would seriously consider the area called Rawai Beach. Close proximity to Phuket town and great beaches as well as being one of the few areas in Phuket still lively. The infrastructure is good regarding roads, internet, restaurants etc. I have spent a couple months there a short while ago.

Around town anything above 150cc is a waste. Even the highways put limitations on reasonable cc sizes here given the stray dogs, food carts, potholes and a multitude of unpredictable hazards. Unless you are lucky enough to live in a sparsely populated rural area with a good piece of asphalt you will find cruising around 80-90 km per hour for safety reasons. In America or Europe a big bike presents many more opportunities for safe high speed travels.

I'm one of those "poor unfortunates" already in Phuket. Very little that I read on this forum comes anywhere describing my experience, which discussion with others here in my SHA hotel is largely shared. I don't hear too many complaints at all.
Yes, there is the risk of being unfortunate enough to be on a flight with someone who subsequently PCR tests positive. The result of this is identical to what happens in many other countries - I saw it first hand whilst in quarantine in Australia. In that case the hotel etc costs already paid are refunded and yes, you have to pay for ASQ - and this is the only other alternative anyway.
The sandbox in my experience has been remarkably well organised - a VERY pleasant surprise at the airport - where clearly the authorities had pulled out all stops to make arrival etc as good an experience as possible. It took me just 20 minutes to clear the airport and be in my already waiting transport. Even the Imm officers were friendly!!
The daily "checkin" to my (very good and reasonably priced - 650B pn incl, full buffet breakfast) 4 star hotel is no big deal at all. I am free to do what I want beyond that. Many of the restaurants etc that are open have special sandbox deals. (Most businesses, it needs to be said however, are still closed).
It doesn't have to be an expensive exercise at all.
Unlike what is being stated by the ignorant (or those deliberately misleading in this forum) my total package, including THEM doing ALL THE PAPERWORK (CofE etc) hotel, airport transfers, all PCR tests, cost less than 27000B. far less than the cheapest ASQ package. People in this forum seem to be selectively choosing very expensive options - not the more common reasonably priced ones.
So in conclusion, my experience-based response to your question is "GO FOR IT"!
good to hear a first hand report although tat data is questionable someone on the ground has relevance

Thailand’s Department of Rail Transport (DRT) has requested that passengers no longer talk on trains in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
As well as wearing face masks and making sure they socially distance, passengers should not talk to one another or on the telephone, the DRT chief Kittiphan Panchan said

almost beyond comprehension... they used to say in the soviet union that pravda could and would say anything they wanted to regardless of whether the people believed them or not because it was all about humuliating them by their inability to do anything about it. i see the same thing happening in the mainstream media around the world.

It’s obvious who dropped the ball on Covid but the blames keeps getting deflected to the people, for breathing, eating, trying to work, trying to exercise, trying to survive. How about somebody in authority organizing vaccines (that work) for everybody like many other countries are doing! Before you know it all people living in Thailand will be told to stay home, not go out and save the country that the leaders have failed to save????
save it from what once covid finishes more people will die on the roads in one month than all of covid...

Meanwhile countless renters are being illegally charged electricity rates of 12 baht per unit or more and the govt does nothing. I know a gal who pays more for electric in a single than she does for the unit.

The government has started doing Rapid Antigen testing at three locations today with a fourth on Wednesday. Today they expect to process 1,000 tests per location (results in 30 minutes) but this will be increased to 10,000 tests per day for the four locations ( Nation Photo)

test and you will find same thing would have happend a year ago had they bothered to test rather than beating their chests about how they were the best at containing covid.

This govt has the full backing of China it isn't going anywhere soon.

You can expect a store with grumpy frowning cashiers possibly a reflection of the management or ownership.

Additionally, what baffles me is that many of these who do not adequately maintain their vehicles, out of lack of funds or ignorance, have no problem driving like madmen and reducing their fuel consumption by half and pissing away baht.

The govt felt the pressure to help the ailing tourism industry then decided to let a few trickle in on a half baked sandbox scheme. Rather than allowing the tourists to travel normally as they had all been vaccinated they quarantine a bunch fo what could possibly be a false positive. Either you believe these vaccines work or not and if they work then why are these people even being tested?

The Click is just the better bike, comparing just the price tag doesn't make much sense. I think both bikes are priced reasonable for what they offer, you get what you pay for.
I have ridden both and don't necessarilly belive the click is any better.

Why? So people in Phuket won't go to hospital - but people in other provinces will go to the hospital ? I don't think so.
Its all relative.
It's only relative with equal testing. Once again there is little motivation for a thai to voluntarily go to a hospital and tested individuals are the ones most likely going to the hospital. Unless we can see testing data the number of daily cases is not comparable across regions.
can you post the testing data for a reasonable time frame between regions here?
