You obviously have gasoline. Do you have a spark? Check it with spare spark plugs.

Did the cylinders die exactly at the same time or one after the other? Different symptoms = different problems.

Exact same time, 15sec after start, while it was IDLE, that's why i thought (and really REALLY hope) it's only a small electrical problem.

I'll swap the coils tomorrow and check the sparks, too much rain right now & too dark & too sad :(((

  2. I live in BKK, the bike has about 40K km, i had the carbs cleaned / sync and valve clearance checked about 3-4 months ago, could they have <deleted> something ? (well i already know the answer).

Would it have taken 4 months before smt went bad if they did something wrong !?

Edit : He checked the compression 4 months ago and said it was all good (dont have the numbers, but he was very "happy" about it).

Edit 2 : When you seat on the bike, from left to right, cylinders 1 and 2 are not working, and they're both controlled by a different ignition coil so ????

Edit 3 : Thanks for your messages BTW

  3. Hi there,

Yesterday i started the bike, all fine, then while it was IDLE 2 cylinders went off (15sec after the start), so the bike is shaking like an old tracor, no power, can't run it.

Checked and pipes for cylinder 1 & 2 are dead cold, i checked / replaced the spark plugs, 1 and 2 were soak, i emptyied all the carbs and they all had gazoline....

I first thought that one ignition coil was dead, but after checking the service manual it turns out that tere's 2 ignition coils, 1 for cylinder 1 and 3, the other one for 2 and 4 so it can't be that.

What else could it be ? I'm starting to be really worried now, and i'm not a mechanical expert :(((

    The model is CB400SF vtec 3 (NC39)

    Thanks .....

Exactly why my Thai son and his wife never allow visitors (unless well known long term) to step into the house. If it's for a repair my son will, where possible, take the item to a repair shop or carry the item (e.g. microwave) to a table under a verandah, but never ask the repair men to come into the house.

When my son bought a safe (better than hotel safe) he made a plan to buy it then get it home:

    - Find the safe he wanted, pay cash and give no personal / address information whatever to the sales folks at the shop, also insist that the safe box be wrapped in plain paper and more, insist that he will take the safe to his van.  On arrival at home son waited until very late evening to take the safe from his van into the house and upstairs to his bedroom where it's now bolted to the floor and a wall (son did it himself) and inside of a cupboard.

    Good idea...

BTW now that we know exactly where your safe is, can you drop your address here !?

  5. Last year some <deleted>*** were throwing cold water in a turn (totally blind spot) on the mountain road between Chiang Mai and Doi Suthep.

You'r leaning peacefully in a dangerous road and then SURPRISE mofo, uh-oh what's that, suicide bomber ? crossing kid ? bang, bucket in your face, let's see if you can handle that, stupidity at its finest.

Yah so basically be careful out there ????

    They also have ambulances here.

Not the same standards though, it's a dude on a honda wave but i mean he's still gona bring you to the hospital, dead or alive, he took an oath.

What is wrong with the existing engine.

I got work done on my CB400SF lump in Phitsanulok, they could rebuild the engine if needed so surely in Bkk that's possible.

Yah i want to know too !

How did someone managed to blow a cb400SF engine !?

Is that the "project big one" ? Or the first CB400SF without vtec ? I got the parts manual PDFs i can help you to find your parts references as a start.

  8. What's your budget per night ?

    https://www.agoda.com/malinamphu-hotel/hotel/vientiane-la.html?cid=-218

Is pretty cheap and very quiet, nice area, swimming pool (small), clean, old style building shaped in U with a real nice restaurant area in the middle.

That one is really nice for the price

Sadly, the biker would have been hit regardless.

But from the video, its clear the biker was looking to overtake the white truck in his lane after a planned pass of the black. Very dangerous driving on the biker's part. Biker should have downshifted when the black truck changed lanes AND when he saw the white truck hit the brakes. He didn't, and instead was speeding into congestion with no clear path through.

And biker did not downshift when the black truck jumped. Only a second, but he froze. Busy praying no doubt.

If your plan is to slam on the brakes on the bumper of the cars you can see in front of you, there is no way to avoid the vehicles you don't see coming. Drive defensively or die. That is Thailand.

    Yep agreed,

The biker failed to see that the traffic was slowing down ahead, he also failed to brake in time, he did not even had his right hand on the brake lever.
But all that being said, he would still have hit the car, that's just a shitty day.

In Thailand, we don't say "to be thrown under the bus" but we say "to throw buses under you"

12h in advance. 1500 baht probably negociable. I would not count on this method as "reliable", however I would not count on the consulate to find a way to stop this reliably. I tried to do it the right way but more than 1 week in advance is too late for their new system.

    Interesting !

What ticket number did you have ? Was it like 500+ which would mean that they keep some "last tickets" available for the black market.

Or was it a mid range number ? Which would mean they sell the last minute cancelled appointments.

I watched in numerous times before posting.

Some agree with me - those whose past posts indicate proof that they ride bikes and know how to do it.

The remainder of the posts - from people who A. do not ride bikes B. Can not see the sequence of events unfolding before their eyes.

If that biker had any experience - and I mean a capacity to anticipate events unfolding, or potentially unfolding - in front of him, he would have slowed down. When the black truck was struck and entered his lane he would have been going slow enuf to stop before impact.

It matters nothing who is at fault when you ride a bike. All other vehicles on the road are lethal to you if you do not ride to Live.

Oh - it wasn't his fault - as they carry the coffin to the fire.

Lot of good that does him. Learn to ride, or die in the process.

    Right, many many agreed indeed.

You obviously haven't watched the video.

You just looked at the picture, think first, comment after.

bike was going too fast and was not driving defensively on an access road, where there are busses, pedestrians, and cars stopping and pulling out.  Tow had his flashers on, indicating caution.  Let them fight it out.

The bike was overtaking the white pickup, i don't think he was overspeeding, could he have drove a bit slower ? Maybe
Would it have changed the outcome ? NoooOOot

I won't tell how they get the ticket but it's pretty obvious if you take 2s to think about it. The ticket are legit and you need to provide a picture or copy of your passport.

And how long in advance did you get the ticket ? Same day ?
How much did you pay for it ?

The only thing i can think of, if them reissuing the last minute cancelled appointments.

Which is what they did for me after they realized that my queue number #3 was issued by mistake at 20 different persons that day.

And anyway even if what you say is true, they would have a very limited amount of tickets / day, that wouldn't be a reliable way.
