  1. Has anyone recently applied for an ED visa after several tourists visa ?

I intend to stay (again) permanently here, ED seems a good option, no worries i intend to pick up a real school and really attend the courses.

Got nothing to do here for now anyway.

How is the application process, after some tourists visa in the passport, can they void the visa ? kick you out at the border ? I agree it would look really suspicious for an IO to let go without question someone that has already stayed 6 months in the country and is now crossing the border with an ED visa.

I know that it wasn't an issue before, know some people who did it, but that was 4-5 years ago and things were way more smooth.

What's the worst ? Visa declined ? Deported at the immigration ? I'm not talking about what the laws says, i'm talking about what can actually happens, anyone has some recent valuable feedback about this ?

I don't mind flying out to other countries than Laos or Cambodia if it's getting too hard over there.

PS : That would be my first ED visa ever.
    Tx

  2. WOW TV's members are getting really soft ;

Back in the days, a post like that, with a shi**y and literally unbelievable story the man would have been crucified in public.

I've seen guys being punched in the balls here for far less than that.

Anyway you got the answers you need, don't do more illegal stuff, go legit, accept the 3 years ban, there's no good outcome in your situation.

I said looking for a bike to use to transition to using big bikes. I would rather go 125 200 then onto a big bike, not from 125 to 400 - I think I would do a backflip.

Kawasaki's aren't actually that expensive, the price seems to drop on them, the w175 selling for 80k+new is 60kish 9 months old.

I don't like the phantoms as the seat is too low, but I guess that it can be modified - but the price is ok. Same as the Kawasaki Boss W175 - seems around mid 20k

I've seen a  kawasaki estralla250 in good condition for mid 20k says it is 1998 model, and a honda phantom (2002) modified tracker style for 30k~

For 20K THB, good condition, green book!? How many KM ?

I like the style of the stallion centaurs, gpx legend. A 1-2 year old stallion, gpx or chinese bike is 20k, a 15-20 year old kawasaki, honda with similar looks is the same price. Which would be more reliable?

Looking for a cheap transition to get into big bikes, only ever drove 125cc autos before, so looking for a fully manual 200cc-ish bike.

    would appreciate any advice, thanks

I'm wondering what kind of "big bike" you can find for 20K Honda or Kawa branded ?

    A wave !? a Phantom ?

What do you have in mind ? tell us what models you were thinking about ....

At what point does one start throwing money and paperwork (plane tickets, hotel reservations) at the officer?

I read reports where people get bad stamps, denied, ect and say "they never asked to see..."?

If it were me, long before they stamped my passport with a bad stamp they would be looking at my 20,000 baht and paperworks...

At first sign of delay or trouble it would all be on the table.

I've got a theory too that they might rather see the equivalent of 20,000 baht in my home currency. Proves I'm bringing foreign money to spend.

Very sorry to hear about your troubles!

Oh i'm good i mean they let me through, it's the OP who didn't make it ???? but thanks

I would not talk about bitcoin but my apps show the balance in USD if they would have asked if I had more money.

By the way I do groceries shopping at PaleoRobbie, eat me restaurant and a couple other place.  I can send money to my girlfriend Thai bank in less than 1h or get cash pick-up no bank account required at 2 Thai bank... Not darkweb related at all. I'm a proud Bitcoin user since 2013 and I always try to spend at shop that do accept them. There is plenty of options in Bangkok.

I'm not saying you're doing illegal stuff with the bitcoin.

I'm saying in most people's mind bitcoin = underground darknet stuff, so avoid saying or showing anything about it at the IO ????

OK - so your history would have shown something more  6 months here before your trip to Laos.  That would be why they singled you out for initial scrutiny. The annual 6 months out of the country may be why they eventually let your through.

They are clearly looking for people who are de facto living her on tourist visas/visa exemptions.

If you are aged 50 or over, when next back in France consider getting an O-A visa to prevent future problems, Will also save you all the visa runs.

    Yah i know.

Do you know if the 6months kind of rule is per calendar year or what ?

Not over 50, gotta have to get married at some point.

Something does seem to be going on at Don Muang but to get a handle on it, can you tell us:

    - where you entering visa exempt, on a SETV. METV, O visa or what?

-how long had you been in Thailand before this and how long were you out of the country?

I had SETV from the Thai consulate in Vientiane.

I do kind of 6x6 months Thailand / France (for the last 3 years) i think i went back to Thailand in August or September i cant remember.

So that time it's gona be a bit more than

It was just weird, no question, not asking about money proof or plane ticket, no nothing at all.

I don't know if they only check the visas on their computer or if they check for wanted persons or whathever but it took a while

  9. On a 4x4 road always stays on the 2x middle lanes :

You don't know what's coming from the left, and you don't know who's gona make a savage u-turn on the right lane(s).

+ the left lane is always fuc***up because that's where all the trucks / bus stops, they damage the road and you got all the sand and dirt there.

on 2x2 road stays kind of in the middle, on the right end of the left lane (not sure if that's proper english).

Basically always leave some room on your left and right sides to have some time to react to all the craziness going on.

When you say 'check', is this against a list of names, or do they just look at your email printout?

If they don't check, nothing stops you altering the email before printing it...

Not advising anyone to do so, just pointing out a potential flaw in their carefully thought out process...

Security guard only check your printed appointment / smartphone BUT the first counter lady has the list on her computer (including queues numbers, names and passport numbers), then the 2nd counter lady has a printed list (crossing names) and the counter boys also have a list.

So there's no way around this, sorry !

3 hours really doesn't seem that painful? I certainly wouldn't describe it as "hell". I queue for longer for my 1 year visa extension in Chiang Mai...

    Ahaha,

All right all right you got me, can't a man slightly overreact without being spotted !?

BTW i used to do it in 5 minutes, late arriving at 11h30+ and the embassy was always empty.

Just a lot of confusion and people are still showing up probably 2 hours before according to the 100m queue which was already there when i arrived at 8h30.

Now these guys probably spent like 5 hours for their visa, including 3-4hours of waiting outside.

Vientiane used to be too good to be true for visa applications.

Seems everything is changing, for the worse.

People now getting the blue stamp at their first setv there...

There's a clear pattern going on with visa's, only the blind would fail to see it.

I'm sh**** my pants right now, it's gona be my first visa in vientiane in 2019 but i had 2 done in 2018 ....

Was supposed to go back to Europe in 2 month i might have to get there earlier and eat my passport, yummy.

A friend of mine had the warning stamp (is that what you called blue stamp?) like 2 weeks ago, saying something like that person traveled to many time on tourist visa and might be denied in future.

Great report, but what a total joke this new system is!

Thanks, yah it's pretty horrible for the people standing out OUTSIDE the embassy with the numbers 200+, they don't even let you go inside the embassy anymore, you just have to stand and dry out in front of the gate ...

Really really not cool, hope my feedback will help some guys not to burn under the sun for 2 hours outside.
